half an hour? i think

So, I started a while ago...and my game is still going, just going to let it run until the end of the jam and see if I end up on top of the leaderboard, lol.

I like the idea, and it's very chaotic and fun at the start. It doesn't really have much to offer after a little while, though. However, that's okay for a jam game. My one major complaint is the fact that the camera is too tight and doesn't expand reasonably as you build onto the ship. I feel like that's easily fixed, It was a great game and a solid submission for the jam!

Developer(+1)

We are aware that the game doesn’t get harder over time, rather as you build your ship. This was an oversight that we will correct soon. As for the camera, we didn’t have much time to ensure it worked correctly, so we just figured it was good enough. We also have a fix for that coming. Thank you for playing!

Submitted

Here we go; as promised, I effectively broke and could have left it going forever, lol.

The idea and art are really great and well-executed, enjoyed it! It would be good if the camera was more zoomed out a bit more or there was more garbage. Also for future some kind of military mode (how to say that lol) with enemies would be fun. I really like the games where you start with some small fort/spaceship/car/machine and you upgrade it until it's massive, but haven't seen many of them. This one was really cool! Thanks for creating this!

Developer

The camera zooming works on hopes and dreams right now. We will post a patch after the voting period. Also this military mode seems like a great idea with enemy spaceships and lasers. Thank you

Thanks for submitting this to the stream! The art is fantastic great and the concept is neat. I just wish I had more time to play it or could've progressed a bit faster to build a really big ship.

But overall, good job!

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing it live!

Damn, a lot of people like to make shipbuilding block games. I like your art style. Got totally destroyed first run 😭

Developer

Thanks!

Submitted

Love the artstyle and the game feels very complete! I would love a zoom out function, to dodge but also find scrap.

Developer

It's coming after the voting period, we didn't have time. Thanks for playing!

really cool and polished game!

Developer

Thanks! And... wow. That is like at least 45 minutes of playing there. Good job!

Submitted

Amazing!

Developer

Thanks!

Sweet game bro ! I thought it had a fun gameplay loop. Reminded me of the game "Out There" (which everyone should play !)

I'd say that it never felt that useful to make some of the units (eg thrusters) espeically the big version. I was quite scared of going fast in this game anyways so I never thought it useful for them to be big

Developer

Thank you! We intended there to be multiple play-styles in this game. One of them was this! Go slow, play safe and build up. But of course it is not balanced and we intend to push a new build after jam with proper balancing...

Submitted

I had a lot of fun playing your game. My only real complain is I wish I could see just a little bit more of the screen. My grabbers near the top were basically hanging off the edge, but I could see a lot to the sides.

Developer

We are planning to fix this after the jam. Thank you for playing!

Submitted

Yay! Another building game in space, I can't get enough of these bad piggies type games and this jam as given me hours of these to enjoy. This is easily the most polished example I've played, superb job!

Developer

Thanks!

It’s a fun spaceship builder, and the scrap collection mechanic definitely distinguishes it from the similar ship builders I’ve seen this jam.

I was quite lost for most of my time. It felt that once I can regain fuel faster than I consume it, there is nothing more to do. Progression should be communicated more clearer to the player, because for example me not being able to pick up hotdog stand felt like a bug.

Another side of this is that progression just suddenly switched to more expensive items and I didn’t see a way to get back. At that point I was messing around and list half of my ship, so I was basically softlocked from buying anything.

I also wish camera was more zoomed out, sometimes stuff flies at you too suddenly.

Overall, it is a pretty interesting game, good job!

Developer

First off, if you got to the point where you could create fuel faster than you were using it, but still didn’t have a tier two grabber, it means you kind of missed the main mechanic. This is partially because the game isn’t fully balanced.

As for progression being in massive jumps, our mistake was squaring the prices as if you were building 9 tiles when you build a 3x3.

Thank you for playing and leaving feedback! We will push an update after the voting period.

This is an awesome idea. I also love how when a piece of your ship detaches, you can collect it at scrap. The biggest item I bought was the x2 grabber but I had trouble expanding cause I couldn't find enough junk. Idk if it exists, but having larger junk which requires larger grabbers would be a great edition. It also allows for exponential growth since getting huge ship parts doesn't seem that practical currently. Awesome job!

Developer

It does exist, but large junk will only spawn once your ship is large enough. There is a good chance you saw a hotdog stand during your playthrough, which cannot be picked up by smaller grabbers. Thank you for playing!

Very cool idea! Music and art are on point and the gameplay is fun! I'm not sure about the highscores being about time survived, because I think I could have survived for weeks by not moving at all ^^'
Overall I really like it!

Developer(+1)

You are right. We didn’t have the time to play through the game over and over and see if it actually got really hard like we had coded it to, so for now it’s more a game of who has more time on their hands :) Thanks for playing!

Submitted

I feel like the grabbers could have a bit more range and the camera should be zoomed out a tiny bit more, but the style is pretty nice, and the idea is charming! Suprisingly little games with this general idea that I have seen, great work!

Developer(+1)

Thanks for the feedback! Right now the camera zooming runs on hopes and dreams and we decided it worked enough-ish. We will address these issues after the voting period. Don’t forget that you can move towards space junk if it’s out of your reach though!

Submitted

I'm a simple man I see a high score and I need to get it.

This game was fun - I didn't realise the scaling mechanic till about 20 mins in......

Feedback:

  • The no fuel sound clips and pops
  • The camera zoom was annoying at times
  • Would be cool to have a speed and movement direction indicator

I would play more of this game - just need more depth and challenge

Really fantastic job!

Developer

This is some really valuable feedback. We will continue to work on the game and reflect on the feedback recieved after the jam ended. We will also add a tutorial for making it easier for the player to understand the game mechanics.

Thank you so much

Submitted

Good atmosphere and beautifully implemented gameplay, but it should have started easier and had a training mode. Good job.

Developer

We ran out of time to balance it better and make a tutorial, but we might update it later. Thanks for playing!

Fantastic work, quite challenging and very fun! Managed to stay alive for quite a while, and it was fun experimenting with building the ship!

I did find that removing tiles had unintended consequences, such as removing several connected pieces, and the zoom seemed a bit restrictive at times, but on the whole it was really enjoyable!

Not to mention, the music really fit the feel of the game!

Developer(+1)

We discovered that breaking tiles not on the edge of your ship did this like 5 minutes after the submission period ended. The zoom code can be a little buggy about how much it will zoom out too. You can sometimes fix this by trying to build your ship in a shape as far from a square as possible. Thanks for playing!

Submitted

Ah, it's the nature of game jams with bugs like these - no need to worry about it, especially since it didn't prevent experiencing the game to its fullest and, if anything, it made it more challenging!

Submitted

I really enjoyed this! Great job on making this in 96 hours!

Developer

We lost a lot of sleep in the process, but worth it I hope!

Submitted

Really fun concept! At first I zoomed through the space and died instantly, but on the second run everything made sense and the concept was quite fun. Good stuff :)

Developer

We expected everyone to do that :) I’m glad you figured out that’s a death sentence faster than most. Thanks for playing!
