Realy cool idea! I love the artstyle and the mechanic allows for pretty creative platforming. Great work!
Thanks! And nice to hear that my pixel art isn't all that bad ^^
Really good platfromer. I like the idea and the levels are challenging but not frustrating. The controls might be a bit better and my biggest struggle was to get used to the wall jump (press right arrow key to jump left). Anyway it's really good game, I enjoyed it
I agree I should have spent more time improving the movement and controls. I'm happy you still liked it :)
Great game ! I enjoyed this one :)
I liked being able to burst through boxes Mario-style! Nice take on the theme and decent submission.
Interesting way to do the player character changes size mechanic and lots of room for mind bending puzzles. My favorite part was breaking blocks when I got big.
Small visual nitpick was I wish the player color matched the color of the size changing beams at the associated size.
Thanks for playing :)
Good point on the color. I originally wanted to add some more player-related stuff so I gave it a separate color, but I didn't quite get to implement it.
Fun platformer with interesting mechanics! I liked the added challenge of trying to get the stars. Level 2 was a little too unforgiving for me and I gave up after accidentally jumping on enemies and flying into spikes too many times lol
Very fun game! I liked the different mechanics of the two sizes. I also liked the level design a lot. In most cases I knew pretty quickly what I needed to do. Well except in a wall jumping section in level 1, I struggled a lot to understand what I needed to do, only to realise that it was a skill issue on my part lol. Maybe that kind of section should be easier, or it should be later in another level. I did get to beat it after a while.
In the second level I enjoyed the realization that size changer lasers/gun work on the enemies too. I didn't get to finish level two, there was another section that was really hard. Still had a lot of fun tho, its a very nice game with a cool concept.
In a game jam balancing is hard to get right, so my feedback would be that if you are making a jam game, you should try to balance it on the easier side of things so that most people can get to the end of the game and see all the cool stuff you make.
Nice work!
Thanks for giving it a try and being patient enough to make it this far! I feel pretty stupid for not splitting the game into like five smaller levels, and unlocking them all from the start so you can at least try them out. And yeah I totally agree on the difficulty. Thanks for the feedback :)
Cool game! Really simple concept but its pretty well fleshed out with some decent puzzles and challenges. My only complaint is that the movement is a little slippery and chaotic, I feel as if in a difficult platformer you want the character to be very controlled and precise. Still, fantastic effort for a first gamejam!
Thanks! Sorry about the movement, I know it's far from perfect. I wanted the small character to be really fast, but I failed to still give you precise control. Definitely should have put more time into that.
Fun game and I enjoyed the challenge :)
Happy to hear that, thanks for checking it out :)
super cute small game. I really like how you always have to think about what size you need next to progress in the level. Sometimes the platforming is quite hard, which for me personally is something positive since I like difficult platformers.
A few more sound effects would have been nice, but the ones that are there are really good.
Overall, I think this is a really nice entry and spin on the theme. Good job!
Thanks for the feedback, it means a lot! And good to see someone's enjoying the challenge.
Agreed on the sounds. I added them pretty late, I underestimated how much they would add and then didn't have the time to do more.
I really wanted to get that star in the second part of the first level. I got quite fast at getting the star but the next part was too difficult so I eventually gave up… Good job! I enjoyed it, the music is nice too!
Thanks for giving it a try!
I'm sorry I didn't just split the game into more levels and unlock everything, kind of sad you don't get to see the later content. Thanks for the feedback, it's my first jam, and this is definitely a lesson learned for next time.
Sorry, didn't make it to the end^^
The difficulty ramped up pretty quickly and it felt a little punishing to reset collected stars after dying.
Other than that I thought the movement was pretty decent and enjoyed what i've seen of the level :)
Hey good job getting a star ^^
You are right about them not getting saved of course, I just didn't have the time to implement that, as the level is just reset when you die. I still added them because it still gives you a nice challenge, even though it doesn't show in the end. I'll add a note to the game's description about that :)
Very nice stylized game :) I did not make it to the end! The wall jumping was a bit funky, or it could just be a skill issue on my behalf, I loved the music and animations they both felt fitting and fluid, especially the size changing lasers. I wanted to collect that first star but I couldn't figure out how, I'm sure it made a pretty sound :)
Very well thought out, great job :)
I'm so glad you liked it, thanks for playing :)
When you become small while sliding on a wall you briefly lose contact due to the smaller hit box, so you cannot wall jump immediately. Couldn't fix that in time unfortunately.
I'm not gonna spoil the stars, sorry ;)
Movement kinda weird, but good take on the theme!
Thanks! I'm not completely happy with the movement either. I wanted it to change a lot based on your size, and while that works, it made it a bit weird for both.
