Was really excited to see another space game haha. I love the presentation, I can't really pinpoint what vibe it gives me, but it's really cool. I do think that the navigation was a little frustrating. I don't think it gives the feeling of "super out of control", but it would've been nice to see either something rolling, or even sfx since the story includes the dice anyway. Other than that, amazing level of detail for the time given for the jam^^

Developer

Haha that was exactly the reason why I ended up clicking on your game!  The random navigation wasn't a great choice in hindsight, thanks for your feedback!

Nice idea, but the randomness takes aways a lot of agency and makes it feel like i cannot control anything. Maybe put it at a 'lower' level than the all-important navigation?

Cool space game

The space exploration idea is nice, the atmosphere is on point but the too random mechanism of navigation is a bit forced and you get annoyed by it sadly.

I think one good twist could have been to actually have a dice showing the chance of bad navigation and repairing each part of the dice? So you basically have the same concept, but you feel a bit more controlling it? Just an idea tho, though it may be bad in the end/not what you wanted for the game haha.

I really liked that you give hints about what will happen if you click on one of the solutions. Even if you don't always know, you can have a better feeling of how the game works.

Great job

Great concept and story! Just incredible work!

Neat little Space Game. Enjoyed it quite a bit, but the randomness with the movement was a bit to much. Sound and Graphics where nice though. Good job!

I like the concept for this game! In practice though I felt like my movement and what happened to me was pretty random, which made it hard to feel like my choices mattered or informed the direction of the game. It looks and sounds great, very immersive, but I didn't like how the randomness took away from the role-playing. Nice start overall, a lot to like here.

wow, this game is soo fun, the concept is also amazing !!

Wow, love the design! This gave me Battlestar Galactica vibes, if you've ever played the boardgame. My navigator failed about 50% of the time, not sure if that was intended or bad luck!

Wow, the actual RPG space game! This is really impressive! I played it for few mins, but it feels so big already. Seems that you put a lot of effort into mission variability, great! I feel like it would be nice if navigation wouldn't fail so often, but maybe there is something I can achieve in game that will help me fix the navigation failure?

Developer

Yes there is actually an event on some of the yellow points of interest that allows you to purchase a navigation upgrade. I think I should've done something else with the navigation though, perhaps make it automatically repair over time. Regardless, thanks for the feedback!

This is a really fun game, espically with the navigation and story aspect. The game looks good and the mechanics play really well.

Awesome Job!

Really exciting stuff! Love the storytelling, love that soundtrack, and building on some of the other comments, I'd say the random movement is currently a bit frustrating but such an interesting concept to explore. I think there's definitely ways of iterating on it to give the player just a little bit more control, whether letting them influence that probability distribution more easily or shifting from post-luck to pre-luck altogether - but hey, where's the fun in a jam if not trying out something completely wild? Keep it up!

Developer(+1)

Thanks for the feedback! There actually is an event that allows you to purchase a navigation upgrade, but perhaps I should've consider making it automatically slowly repair itsself. Regardless, I appreciate the kind words.

The design and the sounds are good, but this random movement isn't the best choice

Fun game, but the random movement can get a bit annoying, but overall cool concept!

while i think that the random movement aspect feels a bit hit-or-miss for me and that the text is a bit too small, i do think that this could make for a cool reigns-type game!

I'm not sure the dice toss mechanic really adds that much to the game, but regardless I really enjoyed this one a lot! All the encounters are so creative and unexpected that I just had to keep playing all the way through, and at the same time they make sense (i.e. you can usually figure out which stats will be affected by the outcome before you make a decision), which gave the game a good amount of strategy that mixes well with the aimless traveling through space.

Edit: the music fits really well too, and the UI feels polished. Both those aspects really add to the immersion.

Interesting concept! It reminds me of a tabletop game of some kind, and I think that may have been an inspiration judging from the hexagonal tiles. The random events do pose a certain intrigue as to how they will affect the overall outcome, but a lot of the time it's hard to guess what the various stat changes affect and there doesn't seem to be too much of an overall effect on the outcomes of the more random encounters.

I'm not sure if the main mission is also randomized because I had the same one each time I played, but if it is then that's a very good idea! It would certainly help the replayability by having new concepts and stories be presented.

I also like how the game looks, with all of the images looking great. It really feels like a space adventure with all the little pointers and designs and things.

The only issue I really have with the game is the seemingly high chance to have some kind of encounter happen, although that does balance out the fact that each individual encounter doesn't have that much weight to it.

Overall, I would say it's a very good concept that looks great, and plays quite well with only a few minor issues that would only really be a problem with a longer playtime.

Developer(+1)

Thanks for extensive feedback! I appreciate it a lot.

Just quickly about the random encounters: they are parsed from a large list of 60 or encounters and were really meant to get that idea of a space adventure. I would've loved to have made the more impactful and less frequent but time happened.

Submitted

Is there a bias as to which events happen most frequently? I found stranded people something like 4 times in a row at one point. That or i just got unlucky.

Developer

The events are specific per type of tile. There's 11 events for the empty tile I believe, so that was just a bad stroke of luck.

The art can be a bit hit-or-miss (but I see you used pre-existing art). The gameplay is top notch, though. It’s a good game, even not considering that it was made in just 2 days!

(the text scaling is a little broken, but it’s no big deal, unity UI is weird)

Developer(+1)

Haha yeah, I couldn't quite get the UI to look right, both in terms of art and scaling. Really appreciate the kind words!
