Fantastic game! although I wish I knew what the stuff did at the begining

Developer(+1)

Thank you!

Ya, I agree.  We originally had an idea where when you got a new unit you could place it to see what it did to start the stage... then we ran out of time.

I would have also liked to add in little tips

Developer

Thanks! A tutorial was definitely something we talked about but didn't have enough time for

Great work and clean execution! I was frustrated at myself for dying and then.. the end scene is gold. Really amazing touch. May I ask what's the consideration behind the rotated perspective?

Developer(+1)

Thanks!

We started with a straight isometric perspective.  I think those are generally easier to see what's on top but at an angle. those tend to look pretty rigid though so we made used a perspective view with a low FOV.   I think the angled view of the board just makes the game look a little more dynamic than if we were to do it from top-down or something like that.

Developer

Thank you! AIA hit all the points on the thinking behind the isometric perspective

Very fun and polished game with a very cool aesthetic (both visually and audibly). A few tiny changes I would make:

- make spacebar input act as a roll button for convenience, or have the game auto-roll at the soonest possible time so that you only have to focus on one thing

- make dice "roll" text only be displayed (or flash)  when the bar is actually full (so that it alerts you when you can actually roll)

- having a cool moving background or something that matches the aesthetic might elevate the experience quite a bit

Overall, a great game.

Thanks for playing our game!

Wow! I haven't played Plants vs. Zombies in a long time. This game gave me emotions similar to those from the good old PvZ. The graphics are simple and elegant. But one thing is not convenient, the dice roll is on top, and the button itself is very small. Often you just don't have time to roll the dice

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing it!

PvZ definitely crossed our minds when we were coming up with the idea.

You're right about the dice.  Some have mentioned adding a spacebar as a way to roll the dice.  I think that'd be a relatively easy way to improve the game without doing a ton of balancing.

Ultimately I think I would have liked to make the game more strategic and have rolls be less frequent.

Developer

Loll definitely common feedback. That's great you recognized we took inspiration from PvZ because that was a big highlight of our planning process. Thanks for playing!
