Well made game, but personally I find the unintuitive control schemes just frustrating to use.
Hey.
Other people seem to be enjoying getting the controls changed but to be honest I really don't think that idea works. On my first GMTK jam two years ago I made a platformer game where at every level your controls are different and in all honesty, getting your controls rerolled just isn't fun. It's really just frustrating.
I also wish the game would not start immediately after I lose as I was often not ready to play again.
Really cool art and gameplay. loved the aesthetic and concept. great work!!
UGH the control swapping thing is so frustrating! lol
I really liked the game. The background music was moody like a high-end casino.
I was also impressed by the details like the dots decreases when the die shoots them out and the card number changes when hit. Very clever!
nice game, unfortunately after a while it runs horribly slow.
Loved it! The art is great and the game mechanics are creative. Good Job :)
Cute idea!
I was getting a bit of slowdown as more cards spawned and I found the reload time a little long (not helped by slowdown, obviously). Maybe you could make the each dot after the first recharge fast to incentivise a more dodge then shoot rhythm, rather than tapping the button whenever?
Thanks! i'll probably update the game to be less jank after the voting period.
already considering adding a new enemy, different attacks, fixing music issues, and now probably decreasing cooldown time, so thanks for your input!
The controls switching randomly is a really interesting concept. Also, love the die. It's just the cutest.
thanks! i thought control switching was something unique, and it kinda worked out in the end.
Nice visuals !! I play with an azerty layout keybord so it was a bit tricky haha but the concept is cool, well done !
as if my game couldn't be hard enough!
Very nice visuals! I tried pixel art myself for the first time with this jam, but you clearly have some experience! The game works well, but I feel it would have benefitted from having some task you need to perform in order to win, like collecting all the cards in the room. Or making some dice that are spread out over the room match in number by walking over them.
i agree. dang pre-planned trips always messing up my game jams
especially GMTK. :/
I loved the look of the dice! it was cleaver to have your ammo displayed on the dice.
thanks! the dice sprite was a real struggle so i'm glad you liked it!
I don't get it, but every time you die, the song plays again.
I like the idea of the ennemies you have to deal with it are cards. I just wished that each of them had an unique attack pattern, like in Deltarune's Jevil fight.
i considered having a poker chips enemy, real bummer i wasn't able to add it
also the music looping is such a pain in the butt that i haven't figured out that comes with exporting gms2 games to html
thanks for the feedback!
In case you don't know, there is a Jevil attack that lauches squares with a different symbol.
The ♣ shoots 3 bullets at a time at you in a spreading manner.
The ♠ shoots 8 or 12 bullets in 8 or 12 directions, I forgot how many.
The ♥ shoots 4 bullets in 4 directions, then shortly after, they spin around an invisible point clockwise that moves towards you, so those bullets moves a bit towards you too.
The ♦ shoots multiple bullets directly at you, but the thing is that the first shot is the fastest, and the last is the slowest.
I think you can make something similar in a post-jam update.
i might just try that, thanks!
Lovely looking game, but the music player was stacking.
yeah, wish that didnt happen
