That was fun, though I'll admit I ignored some of the mechanic and just tried to cut off the path of the opponent as quickly as possible so the actual values of the dice didn't really come into play (almost turned into that one fall guys level where there are several platforms that disappear after you jump on them). I think making it feel a bit more turn based would restrict the strategy to be more purposeful and make for a pretty solid game. Great job!
Cool game idea ! I like that you have to think of ways to limit the enemy's movement, both by cutting it off from the rest of the board as well as by landing on low value tiles.
Once I understood what was being asked of me the game got really interesting (I admit I did skip the tutorial on the first go around). As others have said a counter would be nice, or if there was some indicator it was the opponents turn beside them just moving.
Nice idea! Could be a really fun two-player game. Adding a bit of juice when the dice disappear would made it feel a lot more satisfying I think.
Really cool idea for the theme! Thinking about the next best place to go and the path for it is really fun! Trying to find the best time to trap the bot and get a high score is a challenging and fun! The camera wasn't the best to move, but it's really nice that there is a camera to see where you are! The game doesn't have a lot of things currently, but I think it work very well multiplayer if you wanna expand the idea!
Thank you man, really appreciate the feedback. I'm happy to hear that you enjoyed!
I'm planning on releasing a post-jam update with a few (a lot) of quality of life improvements, multiplayer and maybe even different levels/new dice! Hope you'll be looking forward to it
I liked it, as others have pointed out, an indicator on how many moves you have would be nice. I liked how it looked and the die rolled pretty smooth!
This is actually fun to play, reminds me of Blokus. Could be fun two (or four!) player game too.
My only grief is camera. Not controls itself even though it feels bit slippery, but how there is no feedback which way controls are pointing. Maybe if movement would be relative to camera, that could feel much better I think. I hope there is post jam update that refines bit that and maybe adds pointer of how many moves left. All UX things, base is solid
Hi, happy that you liked it!
A post jam update is coming for sure seen the amount of feedback and great ideas I've been getting.
Four players is actually a great idea! I had only though of two for now but I can see that working very nicely. Thanks a lot for your feedback
I really do like the idea, i could def see it being interesting vs a player tho. Maybe it's cause i'm reviewing this while sleep deprived but i really think there should be a way to keep track of the faces in this kinda game
this is a very cool idea! it would be nice to see how many movements do i have left. i like it a lot! nice work!!
Very, very unique game!! Its like nothing ive seen before in this jam :D The gameplay is very easy to learn. But maybe a little too easy. it seems like I never lost a single round :l
Happy to hear that you liked it!
You are actually the first one to understand the game right off the bat, so that's a win for me. It isn't really meant to be difficult, it's about figuring out the optimal moves to get the highest possible score. But I'll keep that point in mind for the post-jam update
Alright!!! Amazing Game honestly!! Really unique concept. It takes some time to understand but is a very good game, which, if released as multiplayer, would be a blast to play.
A few things:
Thanks for your feedback! Multiplayer functionality is on my list, Just like better UI and a guided tutorial.
Regarding the movement, I was thinking of making either arrows on each side of the cube or even to let the player "draw" a path with the mouse. I would love any other ideas though, It's pretty difficult to figure out the best movement option.
Really love the concept for the game and I think it has a lot of potential to be fleshed out! Possibly you could have multiple levels that you could drop down to, or different tiles that have various effects. I think it could be improved by having the controls change to your current viewing angle because that got me a few times. Great job though!
Happy to hear that you liked it!
Most of the things you mentioned were already suggested, but I still appreciate your feedback. The "dropping down" to other levels is a wonderful idea, I'll keep that on my list!
I LOVE the concept. I like how you can trap the enemy dice so they won't have any more moves to do. great potential
Great idea, nice execution, kinda reminds me of minecraft tnt run lol
Now that was an idea I've not seen yet, and one that proved to be really fun. Really ran with the theme! And as a proof of concept, as you put it, I'm sold. I would love to see this more fleshed out, some AI changes as you know, different levels. Hell, even online multiplayer and leagues! Though perhaps I'm getting ahead of myself there.
Only part which I never quite felt comfortable with (and this may just be me) were the controls - somehow WASD felt confusing with the isometric perspective.
Hi! I'm happy to hear that you enjoyed it. I really appreciate the constructive feedback.
I got used to the WASD while testing so it wasn't really a problem, but I considered making the player move with mouse clicks. Either some arrows on each side of the die you can click on or straight up just dragging the mouse along the path you want to take. I also though of highlighting tiles within reach each turn. You think a similar solution would work or do you have other ideas?
Across the board, this is a fun little game, ive replayed it a few times, the first two times the AI actually beat me, but i got it in the next two rounds.
Really cool game idea. Only things are the AI kept killing it self and that the question mark was a little hard to see, but amazing job. The music choice was a vibe too. Congrats :)
Happy that you enjoyed it!
I sadly ended up wasting too much time on the UI and the (not very helpful) tutorial, so the AI is just random inputs. That's why I gave bonus points for winning. Hope that didn't ruin your experience too much
Didn't ruin it at all. On the games where it played well it was really fun.
Great job, the AI could use some work though.
Thanks!
Yeah, the AI could use some work indeed. It's pure random inputs for now.
Fun game!! But I did get softlocked though.
Thank you! I'm happy that you enjoyed. I'm aware of the softlocks, somehow didn't ever happen during testing. There is sadly not much I can do about it now T-T.
Fun puzzle concept!
