This was fun!  I liked the visuals of the game, and how you used chess movements for all the enemies.  It really felt like I should plan my movements a few steps ahead, especially on the higher levels.

There were a few moments where I didn't really have a good choice for a next move, but such is the nature of RNG.  I'm impressed you were able to put in so many levels in just the jam time.  Nice work!

Everything about this is great! It looks great, sounds great, and plays great! The concept of combining chess enemies with dice-based movement and actions for the player was really novel and engaging, and it was really satisfying to finally clear some enemies out and pass a level I had been stuck on. I do feel like it would be super helpful to be able to pan the camera around to see where the enemies are, and to rotate it to see around trees and stuff. Alternatively, it could show you the possible moves of each enemy piece, but that might feel too easy, idk. I wasn't able to get past the first interior level after the outside part, after trying for quite a while.

Very creative way to combine chess pieces with a die. When there were more than 3 enemies on the field it felt a little long before i could take my turn, since i can only move 1 space most of the time. The Bishop was hard to kill for sure, but i managed to trap his line of movement which made me victorious. Ambience and art style mix very well with the music and SFX.

This is a really cool idea. I especially like how all the enemies are chess pieces, so you instantly know how they move. What I don't like is the fact that you have very little control over what happens. You can't really know what options you'll have available to yourself on the next turn by doing a given thing this turn. I really think this game should have focused on its puzzle aspect more. Otherwise, this game really sets a standard for the other jam games

Wow! I actually really enjoyed this game! The AI did seem all over the place at times, but beyond that, great work!

Had a lot of fun playing this, it's relaxing yet requires you to think quite a bit! I really liked setting up traps and leading the different pieces into them. Music was great and overall the sound effects were well made. I appreciate the fast movement speed for the dice but speeding up the time to watch the enemies would be great too.

Cool strategy-game with element of random! I liked it, morehover here's amazing art design and relax music, thanks for this game experience!

Thanks! <3

Ok, this is my most favorite so far. Great job. So polished and satisfying to play :)

Big up for fmod as well 🙌 (even though I was hoping for some more dynamic music per level) 😏

Developer(+1)

Glad you enjoyed! We would have loved to add more music but we were really tired and didn't have a whole lot of time ):

I enjoyed it and can see this expanded on!
I would love a fast forward button, when more enemies appear everything just drags on for a bit too long.

Developer(+1)

Thanks for the feedback! We were actually thinking the same thing after we got a few people to play test lol

The Idea is absolutely unique, the art and music are amazing and overall it's a great game. I'm still not accepting the fact that this is a jam game, because it certainly has the quality and design of a full release game

Developer

Glad you enjoyed the game! We worked really hard on it and sacrificed our sleep to the game dev gods lol

Very creative and unique take on the theme.
Very enjoyable and highly polished, great art.

Thanks :D

Great game! There is a bug, after I killed the king I wasn't able to move and just kind of sat there. I think it would be more interesting if the pawns promoted when they reached the end, because right now they're just kind of a non-factor.

Developer(+1)

Yeah there is an ending scene but the final build we submitted is bugged  😭, As for the pawns that was an original feature but we kinda forgot to add it/ran out of time.

One of my favorites so far,  really polished and fun to play. Great job bro!

This game is so well put together! Such a great concept and very well executed.

This might be the best one I've played so far! Great gameplay and great art. My only complaint is that it takes a really long time to watch all the enemies move (especially once there start to be a lot of them), and it can get a bit annoying.

Please consider doing a post-jam version of this, especially for mobile. I can see this being a really fun game to play on the go!

Great work :)

This game would be so fun on mobile! The execution is really good., but could have used more time with polish. But the content I got definitely exceeds any 48 hour expectations.

Amazing concept which I enjoyed. There were only a few minor things that were a bit annoing but honestly its fine for a game jam.

A little tricky to get to grips with, but I think theres a lot of potential. Really great stuff for just 48 hours.

Also, I was half expecting the pawn at the start to get promoted to a queen if you let it get all the way to the other side of the room. Maybe you could add that if you continue with this.

Developer (1 edit) (+1)

We had actually planned doing that, but unfortunately we missed our opportunity to include it. Thank you for the suggestion!

Amazing game. I hope y'all work on it some more after the game jam because this concept has a lot more to offer. Great work

Developer(+1)

Thanks! As the main artist for the game I really wanted to develop some more levels and improve the throne room levels, but was so exhausted that I never got around to it with all the other things we needed to finish. Maybe in the future we will release more content and polish!

Bro its so gud. I could see this being an actual game outside of the jam

Developer(+2)

Thanks! We worked really hard on this game, glad you enjoyed :D

Dude, incredible!
Really creative and well made. Had a lot of fun roaming the map and the theme fits well into the gameplay.

cheers on the 3d! How did you have time to make this in 50 hours???

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much!

We're a team of two; this was only possible with little sleep and a lot of caffeine. :)
