I love the idea of the random weapons, really changes how you approach certain situations. Wish either the player speed was a little higher, or the enemy bullets a little slower. As of now, if your dash is recharging and an enemy takes a shot, you're basically screwed. Either way, fun game!
i like how the gun you roll instantly changes how you play the game. i wish there were more guns though. the player feels a little slow without dash but maybe that's by design. also clicking rapidly with pistol makes the gun fire more rapidly than the assault rifle lol so maybe add a cooldown to the pistol shots. good job!
p.s. the 1-bit asset from kenney takes me back to the miz jam
edit: i got farther this time and there were actually more guns. i would add that maybe there should be a visual indicator for cooldowns (especially with the rocket launcher)
Liked the feel and visuals. had fun killing them all haha .. good job ( ꈍᴗꈍ)
well executed mechanichs and a creative ide
Very fun little game- I enjoyed the variety of weapons and the enemy bullets being friendly-fire enabled. The base movement speed felt a bit slow though, along with what previous people have mentioned about weapon balance. I'm also a big fan of how easy it is to tell that a weapon swap will be occurring, since that allows one to back up and plan for the change.
This was ambitious for a weekend jam, great job. Best twin stick shooter I've seen so far. I love the enter the gungeon style level generation. I think the cooldown on the dodge roll mightve been unnecessary. The player moves so much slower than the bullets that its hard to stay out of the way. I think with a bit more mobility in conjunction with more bullets on the screen to dodge, I'd have had a better time with this, but nonetheless I think this was an excellent entry. Great job!
This is an excellent entry! It's nice to see games that use input randomness in a way that allows players to plan around it, and the weapon variety and level design are fantastic to boot! If you were to expand this into a full release, it would be great to see enemies that have more varied behavior patterns and not just different weapons. I see a lot of potential for growth here. Keep it up! ^_^
Pretty good game! The art and music both work well together and the mechanics are pretty fun. The assault rifle is a bit too weak compared to the other guns though. Its essentially a worse smg due to having a much lower firerate with similar damage per bullet. Shotgun was also almost impossible to kill enemies without taking damage just due to how their AI worked, their bullet speed and the shotgun range.
This game was very well polished and I enjoyed it!
The gameplay was fairly good. Graphics and audio worked quite well and I liked the take on the theme.
This was really fun! I think the pistol was a little overpowered because it shot much faster than the assault rifle and more accurately than the SMG, but that's not a deal-breaker. Additionally, it would be great if weapons you pick up are immediately rolled, since I picked up a rocket launcher and never even got to try it. Overall though the presentation here was super cool and the gameplay was entertaining. Great work!
It's a fun game, I think the movement is a bit too slow and could be made a bit faster to just make the gameplay pace a bit better. Having different weapons is cool but I think the SMG and Pistol are just way better compared to others. The art is nice and the game has some good juice.
The music and audio was amazing the art and polish was also great it was satisfying to dash and shoot enemies. Great Job. :D
A "no gun" face on the dice would have been really cool. Like "Survive for a few seconds !"
with a couple tweaks, this would be an amazing game to play. i had a very good time playing, though the character felt a little slow and some weapons didn't feel too effective. i'd love too see where this goes in the future.
Nice work. This was an enjoyable game with with a nice variety of weapons. Movement did feel a bit slow making it difficult to avoid being shot but I still had fun with it.
Thanks for playing, I'm glad you enjoyed! Looking back on it, i kind of agree with you, the movement can be a bit slow. I try to compensate for it with the dash, but I think an increase in speed would be good.
Interesting mechanic, reminds me of things like the mystery box from COD Zombies. Found the movement a bit sluggish however. Overall, good work!
Great game and great gameplay! The pistol is op, and it should have a tiny cooldown so you don't spam click. You can also theoretically skip weapons, so pistol it is. A good addition would be melee enemies so that shotgun use is incentivized. The shotgun is very risky, but try getting close to multiple dudes with guns. Rocket launcher is great and I like that it adds a moment of weakness after firing the shot.
Thanks for playing! I've already made a new version where the weapons are a lot more balanced since I didn't have time to balance them properly during the jam time (I'll upload that version when the jam is done). I think melee combat would be great to implement for the player and the enemies, but I think it would be difficult to balance it for the player
Anyway, I'm glad you enjoyed!
Good game. Easy to play and enjoyable! Maybe balance a little bit the shotgun that feel like a debuff.
Are your dungeons autogenerated?
Will you add a boss monster?
Thanks for playing! I agree that some of the weapon balance is off, I've fixed that in a version that I'll release after the jam is done. The dungeons aren't currently auto generated, but I've been thinking of implementing that for a while, probably using the same system spelunky does to generate them. I think bosses would be really fun, but I need to do a major update to the enemy system to implement them!
Either way, I'm glad you enjoyed, be sure to leave a rating!
Enjoyed the game a lot! You HP pickup placement is pretty forgiving for casual players in general. The mechanic is well implemented, with good visual and audio cue to help players noticing the change in weapon. The art and audio is also very good!
I'm glad you enjoyed! I always try and make sure that my jam games aren't too difficult since most people want to play more than one game, which is why I used so many health packs. Maybe I'll make it more challenging in an update after the jam, but I'm glad you enjoyed anyway!
