Can't rate this, but I'd give it a 5/5. This is a smart game. I like what you're doing here.

Thank you team for a wonderful entry into the jam! Really thoughtful and polished - lots of content, a good amount of mechanical mastery & loved the aesthetic. Really enjoyed playing, thanks again!

Love this game!! Great art and music  :D

Great game especially for the short time! What really suprised me was the funny ending cutscene :D

Great game. Awesome audio and artstyle. 1,2,3 to use abilities was inconvenient but TRex with all passive abilities just dominates the primal world!  Boss had no chance. Also liked that damaged dinos flee from the battle.

haha I wanted to sneak behind a giant dino to eat him piece by piece. Then he turned around and ate me in a few seconds :D

It was fun, congrats :)

This is awesome, super well done especially for a jam game!

Controls are good overall except for the issue of having to reach up to the 1-2-3 keys can be awkward while frantically running around with wasd. Activated abilities maybe could be better somewhere else.

Gameplay was really fun, combat was interesting and strategic and tactical with the different abilities and types of dinos. I enjoyed that the different kinds of dinos would attack or run away from each other. The choices of different upgrades and paths made for cool combos, and feels like a variety of builds are viable, whether you go with a small or big dinosaur. I got a kick out of the endings, of which I managed to get two.

Artwork is really lovely and super nicely polished including all the creatures, animations, ending illustrations, and even UI. Music and sounds are perfect.

I think this is my favourite of the games I played so far.

This game is right up my alley! It brings me back to the good old days of playing agar.io or creatur.io, running around and eating others to grow stronger yourself. I loved the high level gameplay of the 3 different areas and choices of abilities along the way. It really made me want to play through the game 3 times to try out all the builds and get all the endings, and I had a fun time each go round!

My main criticism is that while the meta level gameplay is awesome, the second to second gameplay can feel unsatisfying. I never really understood how and when I'd get hit by enemies. The red ring is a good indicator, but I think every enemy has a different amount of time that you can spend in their ring before you get hit, which made it feel inconsistent. Additionally, when you bump into enemies you get slowed down a lot by the friction, which feels really bad when it causes you to get stuck and get hit.

Also, the controls pattern of using wasd to move and 123 to use abilities felt like it hampered the activated ability focused play styles, because I would often get hit when I have to stop moving to activate and ability with that finger. Moving 123 to mouse buttons would totally fix this I think.

Overall I loved the game though! The music is amazing and really fits the dino vibe, and the end cutscenes are super beautiful and made me laugh! I had a blast playing and I think you've made something quite special!

Thank you so much Medow!
I'm glad you enjoyed our game :)

Thank you for your critiques, they are on point. I think in retrospect I would have personally allocated more time to play-testing and feedback to iron out these pain points. Game jams are quite funny and unlike real development as you can't do any maintenance or updates after release. These changes would take us less than a day to implement but I think they would amp up the experience by huge margins. Thanks again for your comment, your thoughtful response makes me love game jam communities even more :)

Totally! A couple more hours and a few bits of polish would elevate this game to another level. The classic story of game jams XD. You did great work in the time you did have even still!

Developer(+1)

Thank you for the thoughtful feedback! I appreciate you taking your time to get to the 3 different endings. My favorite comments are people saying they laughed with the endings, I was afraid my sense of humor wasn’t going to land.

Great game, lovely art and music. I didn’t expect the ending screens, is it unique per dinosaur?

Developer(+1)

I`m glad you liked it. Yes it is! It is even possible to survive the asteroid - if that wasn`t the case for you.

Dang, I really loved the art and music! Amazing work for a weeklong jam!

Developer

Thanks! I really love your game :)

Amazing work! Controls are easy to grasp, and mechanics are fun to combine. Can’t believe you managed to make this in just a week. I wanna see more games from this team!

i really liked the art music and mechanics but for some reason some dinosaurs kept running to the border of the map and sometimes when u attack them from behind or to their side they dont even bother fighting back and keep running to the border making it nearly impossible to die but overall the game was very fun to play and i had a good laugh at the end cutscene

The art and music work well together, creating a cosy atmosphere.  The choice of abilities makes for great verity in gameplay.  Progression feels slow. Overall, a fantastic game given the time limit.

How did you manage to make all this in just a week?? Good game!

Developer

Thank you! In my case (artist) 10h a day + a lot of soda lol

Thanks!
... Teamwork? Teamwork!

The concept is really fun! I also liked the evolutionary stages. The progression does feel a little slow though.

Thank you for the feedback! I’m happy that I got to use my trivial dinosaur knowledge to draw these.

Your art was really great too !

Developer

I appreciate the comment, thanks :) Going from illustration to art from an actual game was quite the experience 😂

I’ll check out your game as well, I’m away from my computer at the moment.
