Excellent game and very polished! Good integration of all three wildcards as well! The lateral movement is restrictive but increased the challenge of the game instead of being annoying and having to pick up stuff from the enemies meant staying around longer in “dead zones” instead of destroying other enemies which will increase the risk of dying for the player. Very good integration of risk vs reward into the game there! Lots of different enemy types and the scene transitions were very well done.

Aww, thanks so much! I had a lot of fun putting it together, and it was probably my lowest-stress jam game yet, maybe with the exception of the last half hour before deadline, lol (I accidentally exported and uploaded a version set to start you on the boss fight with like seven minutes until the deadline and only caught it because I tested the game in the browser before submitting).
Love it! The changeup of the gameplay at the end was really cool.
The default controls seem a bit awkward to me. Definitely needs an option to remap them, as well as volume options.
Thanks! I was a little worried what you were supposed to do at the end wouldn't be clear, so I'm glad to hear it seems like it came across for people. And yeah, remapping controls and sound options were still on the to-do list at deadline, unfortunately. Even I didn't like where the bomb ended up, but it was one of the last things I did and somehow I hadn't really thought about needing a button for it.
This is cool, all around very clean and polished. I like how crunchy all the sound effects are, it makes things feel really retro. There's a surprising amount of music in here which is impressive too. The last part where you have to destroy your own ship is a really clever and fun idea too.
I wish there was more to the temperature mechanic though. If there was some reason to keep your temperature high (Maybe you move faster or do more damage or something like that) without overheating I think that would take this to the next level. Because right now the temp mechanic effectively just makes your gun burst-fire.
Great job overall though! I enjoyed this one.
Ooh, that's a really great idea about the temperature thing, I'll have to give it some thought! I have to admit I basically just swiped the gun heat system from the first Mass Effect (you know, the system that nobody but me liked and they immediately changed in 2 and never went back). Aww, thanks, and thanks for playing! I knew I wanted to do some sort of space shooter and when the theme was announced I felt like it was perfect. It ended up becoming sort of a love letter to an old DOS game called Overkill I played a lot when I was a kid, because I am old.
DOS games were great even better once Shell was introduced to make it easier to navigate, The shareware era of having a boot drive full of iD software games ( I think at the time called Apogee? its been a long while ) like Commander keen was golden!
Apogee! Yes! Commander Keen, oh that takes me back. Now I just want to make a game consisting entirely of ascii characters like Kingdom of Kroz...

Thank you so much! I was going for small but polished, and that makes me feel really good about what I managed. Also glad to hear you liked the music. I had wanted to get the gameplay done early and spend like two days on really rad music, but lost too much time to other things and had to write and implement all the music in two hours right before the end of the jam, so I had no sense of if it was any good, lol.

Thanks for playing! And yes, one of the bugs I didn't catch was if you restart after reaching the end I forgot to set your scrap back to 200 so you can build a ship at the start, so if you do you end up with negative 200. I guess that makes for a more challenging replay, lol?

What an awesome game! I felt so rewarded every time I finished a level. Great audio design on this one! It was cool having so many different enemies with their various attack patterns to watch out for. Great job!
Yesss, thank you so much! I really wanted that feeling of accomplishment at the end of each level. And I actually only planned two or three enemies, but it was so fun making them I just kept adding more. I think it's the first time I ever exceeded the planned scope of a jam game!

Really enjoyed this game, and the twist halfway or near the end. The little additions like scrap and ship upgrades made this so much more playable. The dialog also had me laughing. Great job!

I love this Gradius like game style! I love that you were able to put a story into such a short game and have multiple endings. The art is great and the gameplay is awesome. It could be more difficult, but it wasn't too easy either. Still love the game though!

Fantastic! Great use of the theme and wild cards. I am typically terrible at these types of games but enjoyed it and found myself playing through to the end.
