Fun game :) I had a hard time distinguishing what would hurt me and what were pickups. But I loved the music!

Submitted

really nice visual identity and easy to pick up fun gameplay!

Submitted

That was a solid side scrolling shooter.

The visuals look great and the game's pretty fun as well, good job!

The blackhole effect is nice. It plays nicely, some warning that you're about to overheat would have been great. It's cool that you can see your stats after a run... though my accuracy is not so cool to see!

Love the 3D looking sprites and the blackhole in the Centre!

Difficulty of this game is pretty high! The enemy projectiles come fast and furious. I was not sure if the orbs flying towards me were friendly as they were purple too, so I just avoided them! The explosions on enemies' death might be more readable with some contrast from the background!

Took me 3 tries to beat it, the first I thought the enrgy was an enemy attack as both are colored the same, I also fought the boss only once, maybe someone could have missed it. Overall quite fun and with the correct game duration.

Yea this is definitely the biggest feedback we are getting. I think the enemy lasers should be red and the pickups should move a bit slower. Thanks!

Thank you for playing! The boss is a random spawn based on some criteria, however, its pretty unlikely not to see it if you play long enough. I think in all of my test plays I didn't see the boss once. You must have gotten some serious RNG to not have seen it twice in 3 plays!

Excellent! Amazing fun, a classic shmup with a nice 3D art style.

Amazing how much you got done in a week! The rotation around the void is very cool and you have a great selection of enemies and even a boss.

I did occasionally have the void bleeding over the front layer of ships which I'm not sure was intentional but never hindered too much.

The perfect amount of game for a jam. Thanks!

I really liked it, the music and visuals were awesome. I thought the void energy was projectiles my first time through, but after I figured it out I loved the gameplay. Really good job!

Really nice arcade-style game. The rotation around the black hole over time in the background was a really good addition. At first I thought the pickups were projectiles which ended up messing me up a bit in how many I collected (there was also some enemies very close to the left which made it hard to react in time to pick up their pickups). (The bombs that were dropped are extremely similar in nature to the pickups so I also ended up trying to pick one of those up once lol). Music complimented the gameplay nicely and the mechanics with the essence filling back up your shields added some nice risk if you got hurt

this feels like a game that id play at an arcade, it was really fun. i really liked seeing things warp around the black hole, that was a cool effect. the only problem i had was that the ring around the black hole would sometimes get real close to the camera and block the ships on the screen

Developer

Thanks for playing. I debating remove this but felt that it was only a few seconds of hindrance. On one hand you would have more visibility, but on the other hand I think it would have taken a bit away from the excitement of the black hole and the 3Dness of the game. Not sure what was the best call but thanks for the feedback!

This is just awesome! It was hard for me to pick out my ship at first, so a bit more contrast might be good. Overall, super good job!

Developer

Thanks! I wonder if a thin white outline would have been appropriate?

Submitted

I feel like decreasing the saturation of the purple background  / adding some blur could also do the trick!

Nice solid game! Cool ship models.

Well done, the game is smooth and enjoyable to play and the music conveys a sense of tranquility. Great job brother :)

I really enjoyed the gameplay, story, and how the 3D graphics were implemented. Great work!

Good Gameplay. Nice Graphics.

Hey thanks for the detailed feedback! Intersting, it did not occur to me that people would dodge the pickups. Good to get that perspective.

We could definitely make the controls for keyboard stand out more. Maybe even switching them to the right.

Definitely agree on weapon cooldown could be more noticeable. Maybe the tip of the ship could get hotter.

The accretion disk was a side affect of the way we made the game but we decided to leave it in as it only blocked vision for a few seconds and we felt it would be a little exciting.

Wow the visual effects are amazing! How did you do the black hole and the purple background? So cool. I also like how the destroyed ships were pulled into the black hole.

Developer(+1)

Hi, I followed a tutorial on medium.com about black holes effects in Godot. The purple background was generated with noise textures through a space skybox tool. Thanks for playing :)

I agree with the other comment so far. That black hole effect is amazing. i didn't realize that the stuff coming out of the ships was void energy so i did not collect enough. Other than that, i had a great time. Thanks for making it!

Developer

That's two people that didn't know the stuff was void energy! Good to know! Thanks for the comment and play :)
