I liked this a lot, the newspapers added tons of flavor, the missiles were interesting and fun to use. Love the references to pigeon guided missiles and the aurora borealis. Great game!
I was going quite well until I forgot to buy rockets :) Feedback would be to make the buttons cover the complete texture. Great little game for a first entry! Well done!
Pretty cool missile game! A bit difficult and it was a bit confusing about what every item did (maybe because of the small text but idk). Great work on the jam!
a lot of complex missile systems you got implemented! I especially liked the radar. This was a lot of fun, and cool take on missile command with a more modern spin on it. Glad you kept it retro feeling with the art and music though:) Some of the text was really small and hard to read, but I'm playing on a smaller laptop screen. good work!
Very well done game.
Really like the graphical approach and the sound/music.
The game did have a big ramp up in difficulty - seemed like I was doing well and suddenly I could not keep up
Great submision
This is a very satisfying reread of Missile Command.
This game took me back to a distant time when I played clones of this game on MS-DOS! (I'm from another millenium!)
My old reflexes were still sharp, but they betrayed me too, as I often forgot to restock on missiles and other weapons.
I loved the news flashes which set a story in this way.
Thank you for this good time!
Really enjoyed the idea of Missile Command + roguelike! It's been a few years since I've played the cabinet, but that feeling of being out of ammo and watching all the missiles slowly rain down on you is something I remember from my childhood! I thought the incorporation of the theme was really well done– having to deal with facing a version of whatever you've upgraded to.
Graphics and music were excellent and really fit the theme. Newspaper upgrade dialog was very clever.
Great work!
Pretty cool game! Short but fun! I really appreciated the roguelike elements of random weapons to be bought in shop and-.... why is a german guy counting on the radio xD
Anyways, I wished the commands were made a bit more clear, I often found myself trying to click to skip the journal dialogues or the title screen, and I only figured out how to pick weapons with the mouse scrollwheel on wave 3 ^^"
Also I was not ready for the last level, the warheads just really spike up in difficulty!!
Fun experience overall, with a well polished aesthetic both in visuals and sound!
Cool concept to cross Missile Defence with roguelike! Really surprised to see narrative in a game like this! And putting the countermeasures obtained in a news format really fits the Cold War era theme! Nice touch!
Not sure if its just me, but the itch.io "Follow" interface blocks out the missile inventory in the top right, and I was unable to clearly see my missiles quantity; a bit of "unintended consequnce" i must say! Enabling FullScreen button on your itch page should be a quick fix for this.
The missiles flew a tad fast, perhaps smoothing out the difficulty curve by gradually speeding them up would help. A tad more color or visual cues would also help with telling the types of missiles apart (I couldn't, and ended up shooting whatever I had at random).
Overall, I had fun with this entry!
Thanks so much for the review! We went ahead and enabled full screen, so hopefully that issue is resolved for everyone.
