absolutely loved this submission, lots of fun and love to see a unique concept well executed. the characters were charming and funny, the art direction and music were amazing and felt cohesive for this game. only critique is that i wish the frogs had bigger hitboxes so they were easier to grab, and maybe some minor ux tweaks. overall well done, thank you for this fun entry!

This was a very charming game. I like frogs and wizards, so it's right up my street. Generally I think rat wizards align more with my political views than cat wizards, but these seem like a couple of cool cats.
Very cute! Nice art and music, and I found the writing light-hearted. This was an interesting combination of mechanics, too. I appreciated you guys trying something different, with a nod to Towers of Hanoi.
As others have mentioned, additional visual feedback on the wand control would help; I also had towers collapse on me unintentionally. I would like larger colliders on the frogs to grab. Also, the gameplay was getting redundant for me before I got to orders requiring the large frog. I noped-out at the request from the Eye, as that just felt like grinding. That said, I did enjoy most of the time I spent in-game.
Congrats to the team for your first GWJ submission. Really neat concept and I look forward to seeing more!
Hey Maaack, thanks for the comment! Glad you enjoyed the experience and found the mechanics interesting, we were really hoping to contribute something unique for this theme that captured the construction/destruction dynamic of towerbuilding and I think were mostly successful! I really appreciate your detailed feedback, it's reinforcing my own thoughts about where to polish this game to make it a more fun experience in its post-jam life. Keep making cool games and thank you for your contributions to the jam community :)
PS: Had never heard of Towers of Hanoi, but recognized it immediately upon googling as a subconscious influence, so thanks for giving that a name for me haha
FROGGGZ!
The characters are super cool. The art is charming.
The process keeps you engaged, but I spent a few minutes figuring out what to do. It would be better to have a summary of the order in a separate form or table. In case you want to double-check it without reading through the story again.
I loved the artwork and character designs! The Potion Seller as a cat was hilarious, and it was fun to see who would appear on each level.
Initially, I was confused how to play. One of my starting frogs swam off the screen while I was checking the menus, and I didn't realize how to use the wand at first (or that I had activated it). But once I understood the mechanics, it was a lot of fun and a nice challenge to wrangle frogs and create the right combination each stage.
Hi there Rien!
We are working on the soft lock issue - at first we thought it would be fun to have some difficulty with letting them wander off
BUT!
Its no fun having artificial difficulty like that so we are working on it asap! The wand is a major thing we wanna work on to make it more noticeable that its being used - might make it so that your cursor becomes the wand for example!
Such a nice game! I loved the graphics and soundtrack. Nice process of trying to figure out which frogs to combine to reach the desired goal:) When building the tower and trying to turn it into a different frog I would sometimes not be aware that wand wasn't selected which resulted in the tower to collapse. I think maybe adding a little wand cursor would solve this issue? Also because of this the frogs jumped out of the screen and I wasn't able to fulfill Chuddly's frogmaxxing request;(
Overall very good game, I really enjoyed!!
I Hey there Surykatka!
We are aware of the soft lock mechanic so far with the frogs unfortunately leaving the screen and if all of them take off then you get soft locked.
We are working on a fix for it at the moment - we are pretty sure we got it fixed but unable to update it until after the competition grading is over.
I agree with you on the wand mechanic wholeheartedly - something to show the player that they are now in *Wand* Mode would definitely be useful.
Hey! I included your game in my recent livestream! (apologies though, i just realized that i got the audio levels wrong for your game, so my review is hard to hear!)
This was super fun! I wanted to play more but I couldn't figure out how to make small frogs.
