The animation at the start was a nice touch and the concept was interesting. The controls icons were switched, and I had to look at the itch page and mess around to figure out. The art style wasn't too cohesive, and the player character not being animated was a huge immersion break. The use of lighting was pretty cool.

I liked the gameplay loop. I agree with others that the icon for the mouse cursor was confusing. In general the art didn't feel cohesive, lots of styles going on, but I had fun.

Developer

Thanks! Really difficult to find one specific art style wirh eveything you need, when you are yourself not an artist xd try to do my own art next time 👍🏼

Maybe try find a single asset pack that has what you need? Or partner with an artist :)

Developer (1 edit)

Thanks. Yeah, the idea preceeded the art, and neither of us really had the skills to pump out each of the assets we needed in time. Unfortunately, no one asset pack had the mix of characters, environment, and interactible objects we wanted. It would have helped if we had found an artist to work with, but you work with what you’ve got, I guess.

The Godot splash screen at the beginning was super cool! I think you did a great job incorporating the theme. Good work!

Developer

Thank you very much! Appreciated

I really liked the Godot logo animation at the beginning. Is that available to use?

Developer(+1)

Yeah of course! It’s from StayAtHomeDev and free to use https://stayathomedev.itch.io/free-godot-logo-redesigns

You know, funnily enough, when I saw your animation, I remembered this post by him but then couldn't find it. Thanks again!

I like you have to control two character. The sounds effects are really scary, nice done.

Developer

Thank you!

HELLO WHAT was that godot splash screen animation that looks great!!! I like the little tutorial area and the control scheme it is clear and well executed. I accidentally clicked return to main menu when spam clicking lol. I think there could be a bit more warning and delay instead of having the dog immediately die. Interesting use of lighting and the sound effects are suitable for the spooky ambience. Overall good job!

Developer

Thanks! Yeah the time ran out at the end, so no time to adjust that. I don’t like that either, planned was an animation but didn’t find any good dog sprite to animate. Thanks!

Good game, had fun. I think that the borders of the map should have sprites and the left and right mouse button indicators should be swapped. Overall good.

Developer

Yep, seems confusing, somehow the art of that cursor was intended by the asset producer. Next time I’ll find a better, not confusing one. Thanks!

I enjoyed this and was frustrated by it at the same time, but not in a bad way. At first, I just kept the dog by my side constantly, but I'm just not fast enough to protect her/him, so I was trying to always place them tactically away from danger only to right-click on the monster anyway from reflex.

The visuals are consistent and clear, the periodic, deep monster growl was positively terrifying. The only thing that was a bit confusing me is the mouse icons, maybe it's just my brain, but at first I spend several seconds trying to command the dog with the left button.

Developer(+1)

Yeah, I didn’t like that too with the mouse button, but that’s kinda how the art was of that asset. Next time I’ll find a better one, not with confusing visuals. Thanks!
