Game Description
A Sad Goblin Wizard Boi enters a magical dungeon of literal and metaphorical reflection, fighting glooby baddies along the way.

How does your game tie into the theme?
Mechanically, the gobbo reflects across the map horizontally and vertically. He also reflects on his self-worth between levels and learns that he is an awesome, cool goblin!

Really creative take on the theme! Took me a while to figure out what reflect was supposed to be doing but it all made sense in the end.

Impressive enemy AI, I noticed you could run away from them and they stop tracking you, which is great!

A bit more visual variety in the backgrounds might have been good (rich coming from me when I made a monochrome game, I know!) but it's a small thing, the enemy variety made up for it.

A really impressive effort!

I got 20 in each attribute and then decide to quit, after talk very weel with miself in the mirror :D

Sometimes the mob appears very close to the player, the rest is great. Congrats!

I wound up playing this for like 30 minutes, feels really good! It scales very well difficulty-wise, and is a solid survivors-esque bullet hell. I only wish there was a proper ending where Sad Goblin Wizard Boi can leave the dungeon, but still very solid. The music was pretty good as well, was enjoying hearing more and more of the track as the rounds got longer.

Yeah, the proper ending got cut unfortunately. I'm glad you liked the difficulty curve. I wanted a few more enemies and a slightly longer curve, but so it goes! Thank you for playing.

I liked the game's story and sense of humor, and the stats definitely made a noticeable difference early which is appreciated.  I probably wouldn't have caught on to the "reflection" stat being related to the story rather than a buff to your teleport abilities if I didn't read the game's store page to be honest, but I'm glad I could help cheer up the sad goblin boi.  Now if only the mirror would elaborate on the creepy way Mr. Tusk uses his Magic Mouth spell...

Developer

Haha, I'm glad someone found that line. It was an old D&D bit my old group had about using Magic Mouth in all the wrong possible ways. I'll leave it up to your imagination, there are many right answers :)

Thanks for playing.

Nice game! I can see the potential in it. I like the wide range of settings in the options menu, makes the game quite accessible. Some explanations on what each of the skills do would be nice. I know some are obvious, but others like talent and reflection aren't so much. Also, I didn't get the shader bug that was mentioned, but I do feel like the background is a bit distracting. Overall, had fun with the game though!

Developer

Thank you for playing. The shader has been removed in a patch (someone screen-recorded the flashing and it was not good, so I wanted it out in case of seizures.). On desktop the background was more pleasant imo, but in the browser it got weird. The shader was also the source of the loading speeds being dismal? Go figure!

The tooltips on the skills took way too long to pop up. They should have been instantaneous, so mistake on my part for sure.

I just specced into Reflection the whole time, and didnt know what that did, maybe put it in description or the game? Thanks for submitting.

Developer

It was meant to feel like a dump stat, but it unlocks dialog options at the mirror. Technically, it is what really wins the game.

The game seems fine, although lacking in objectives. There isn't much of an incentive to traverse the dungeon, so a lot of time can just be spent in the same corner picking off enemy spawns. The lack of audio feedback on many actions and no proper indicator for gaining experience makes leveling up jarring and feels pace breaking, the same can be said for the dialogue segments between rounds. There are some nice ideas within, but I feel like the game in its current state just doesn't seem as engaging or rewarding as it could.

Developer

Sorry you didn’t like it much, but thank you for playing all the same.

Really cool game! I had a lot of fun magicking away all the dungeon baddies. I liked how the stats had noticeable effects on gameplay, though I felt like the level up screen popped up too often in the early levels. It kinda messed with the game flow a bit. I got to where it seemed like the level was repeating over and over, at which point I stopped. It felt nice to help Mr. Boi gain confidence in his wizardry.

Thank you for playing.

I probably wasted too much time debating what rate of leveling was acceptable, so it was hard to balance.

Long story short on the final level repeating has to do with why there is a bug fix. Turns out a shader issue was messing up load times and performance, so i ended up having to do a last minute refactor of how the level progression worked. Kinda sucks, but that’s how it goes.
