This is probably the highest rating I've given in this jam. This is far and away my favorite game and I would not be surprised if this won. Not only is it unique, but the humor and charm comes across so well and doesn't overstay its welcome. The mechanics are a little clunky but I think it works given this type of game - I had a smile on my face the whole time I was playing. I especially really liked the overbearing boss somehow putting the entire company on the line from this one meeting you are "required" to attend and the grandma accidentally adding insult to injury by asking if things are going okay on the job right after getting fired LOL. Great submission!
this game is amazing but also hurt me.
very gud
I enjoyed the game well done
Short, sweet, and fun! I really enjoyed the concept and it was very satisfying to scale the speed and quantity of clickers over time.
That was actually quite fun! Especially after I realized that you can buy clickers :) Clicker games are my guilty pleasure, and this one definitely hits the spot :) The premise is not quite persuasive, though - why would a hacker give me money :D it didn't stop me from playing and enjoying the game though :)
And quite creative take on the theme!
Ha well I didn't put too much thought into the premise other than just to progress the game. In my head it was really your friend who found some "hack" for free money with the downside of causing popups. The first draft of the game had a lot more clicking even allowing you to click your money indicator as a way to generate more money. That was the original "hack" in the story. I was trying to go for balancing clicking for money vs clicking to close the popups. Though through my initial testing it was a bit annoying so I made it simpler and just focused on the popups.
Glad you had a bit of fun though.
Gamer this was so FUN! My hand hurts omg hahaha
Great interpretation of the theme, love the username entry / login to sell the PC feel. Those popups that scaled annoyed me so much but it was very satisfying when I got them closed.
Indication of how many clicks at the top of each tab is simple and easy to understand and I enjoyed getting fired and the other emails that would come through as I battled to keep my CPU load down.
I didn't use the shop till the end and then my CPU got to 101% and I crashed :')
Great entry, very well done :)
Who would have thought that closing popups could be fun? Very interesting take on the "freeze"-theme. Also has a roguelike-feel to it when buying upgrades. Was able to catch a bit of story, but I suspect there's even more to discover.
Thanks glad you enjoyed it! I was hoping to get more buyable upgrades but ran out of ideas that seemed interesting. If you have any ideas let me know!
I had fun while playing the game! Once I accidentally dragged a UI window half out of screen so I couldnt close it. I never really got far in the game, my PC always froze, just like in real life xD
Overall it was a fun, unique kind of clicker game.
Thank you for making it :D
Are you saying you get hitting the lose state where you get the fake blue screen of death or your computer was actually freezing? Just want to make sure I don't have a bug in here I missed. I did my best to test a lot of open popups to see how it performed but I might have missed something.
Glad you had fun playing it though!
I was just referring to my bad PC xD the game had no noticeable bugs, at least for me xD
I chuckled playing this. It was hilarious yet triggering... As a 90s kid, I actually had a home PC with these awful viruses that would show weird windows like this.... Also the work emails are HILARIOUS. Thanks for that little bit of distraction from my real job, sigh
Good work! Had Fun!
Yeah this was a game of nostalgia in a way for me. Funny enough I had to go back and do research to see examples of what the popups used to look like back in the day for inspiration. How quickly my memory has forgotten.
This was such a great game, really fun experience!
This game was so Fun. I'll come back tomorrow to see what is different :D
Glad you enjoyed it. The daily sales in the shop change every day. Nothing too exciting. Now I wish I spiced it up a bit more.
This was pretty fun! I'd say there could have ben more audio, especially background music, but I think I'm probably actually glad the popups didn't come with more sound or they'd have made me absolutely crazy.
You truly captured the popup virus experience and all the frustration that comes with it. I really enjoyed story beats popping up as emails in the background, I'd have loved if there were even more of them!
Yeah I really did want to add background music but I have no skills in audio. I know I could find some free assets online which I have done in past game jams but couldn't find something. This game I made everything myself, well aside from the font I guess. The little bit of sound effects I made myself and it was difficult enough. I even spent a while trying to make my own "You got mail" soundbite but was never happy with it so settle with the sound.
I did consider the idea of pop ups making sounds. I thought it could fit into the last wild card of "silence" where you want to silence the popups. And I would have added an app that could silence everything. I think it might have been too annoying to players but also just kind of ran out of time with burnout near the end of the jam.
This is super cool. We had a similar idea with the computer screen concept. The chaos was amazing!
Had fun playing this one :)
That was fun. Apart from some strange issues with overlapping windows blocking the x underneath it was pretty solid and did what it said on the tin. I struggled to read my email while playing but I managed it and I thought the stories there played out well. I enjoyed that you added an endless mode I was shooting for 1000 pop up closed and got close-ish. Loved the BSOD
Thanks for playing. As per the emails. Yeah I was hoping they would be a little bit of a distraction to help the game feel a bit more hectic and difficult. I was struggling with the balance as I found it too easy during my testing. Glad you had a little bit of fun though!
