What a cool idea! I loved discovering how it affected the player's different senses. You did a great job with the dialogue too, conveying alot with just a line each time. I feel like I got to a point where I couldn't do math anymore or just didn't have enough neurons, and the lack of balance was making me a bit dizzy after a while but in a way that's very fitting haha. Really nice job!!

Very interesting game about the brain! I got a bit confused tho, is it possible to remove connections or does one have to continously make new ones?

Developer(+1)

Thank you for playing!  The connection visuals are persistent, so new ones are always made.  I found that the connections were somewhat of a red herring, as what's important for the game  is just the signal count inside each neuron.  However we decided to keep the connections in to express the complexity of mapping brain patterns.

Alright, fair enough! That makes a lot of sense actually!

Very good job. Was bit confused in the beginning about what I was doing but as I kept going I started to enjoy it and was very nice when I realized the impact it had on the UI and audio. The balance thing was the best! xD would have been nice with an indication that you complete a "level" (sound/visual effect) but otherwise I really enjoyed it.

Developer

Thank you for playing! you're absolutely right, it needs more player feedback.  Im glad you appreciated the brain effects!

This was a really cool game.  I love how changing the number of neurons in each sub-section has a noticeable impact on the UI, such as turning off the music or rotating the camera.  Really nice game-juice there.  :U

One thing that confuses me, am I the only one who got stuck on the level called 24?  I feel like I had all the right requirements and certainly not 24 neurons available, but it wasn't letting me continue despite trying every combination.  Not sure if this is a bug or just unfinished and the end of the demo.

Indeed you are right, that was the end of the game, and I couldn't implement what I wanted in time.  Apologies for the abrupt stop.  Thank you for playing though!

its a weird game haha

Cool different concept found it interesting

Great concept & really like how the challenges come from characters asking you to do different activities. The different effects when you didn't have a very high value in a certain section was a nice touch. Awesome work!

Very cool game! I love the idea. The balance and camera tilt was a nice touch but also makes me a little dizzy too.

Developer

Thank you for playing! I hope you didn't get too dizzy, but let's just call it immersion ;)

The idea is fantastic and I really enjoyed the part where connections influence my UI. Great entry!

I love the idea of the game, very unique. The dialog leading you through the levels is a nice touch, and the fact that the different parts of the brain affects the gameplay was really cool (music cutting out if there's not enough hearing, not being able to see the points needed if the memory was too low, screen going dark is not enough vision etc).

Definitely matches the theme of the jam well!

Anytime I get to play as a unicorn, I am a happy camper. This was a fun little infinite runner. Nice work on the animations, I know they aren't easy to knock out in a week. I give your game 10 rainbows out of 10!

Developer

Glad you found the easter eggs!

Interesting and I would love to explore it more with a fleshed out tutorial or some more language on objective / gameplay! Fun idea with the dialogue leading the player through the "levels".

Developer

Thank you for playing!  I agree a tutorial and a little more guidance would have benefitted the game.

Amazing concept! I couldn't exactly work out what to do but I love the idea and implementation - I feel a little disappointed in myself not working out how to play

Developer

Thats okay, I wanted to include a proper tutorial if I had more time.  But the basic idea is to move signals to the part of the brain which would facilitate a particular response to the dialogue.  The signal requirements would change after each dialogue entry, and can be seen on the right side of the screen.  Thank you for playing!

Good concept! But it think the gameplay might be a bit simple as it 's just juggling the values around. Maybe you can try to avoid the links from crossing each other, that could make it a bit more challenging and interesting. Also the music is not looping I believe, it stopped after a while.

Anyway, still a good concept, and I like the storyline too!

Submitted

The music cut out for me just as I changed some "hearing" neurons so I thought I cut off the hearing and therefore the music stopped. I thought that was a neat feature but maybe it was the music not looping? :D Regardless it's such a good game idea

Developer

Thank you very much!  Yup it sounds like you severed the temporal lobe!

Thank you for the insight!  Agreed, I had some trouble figuring out how to make the mechanic more fun, but your idea is a good one.

I think the idea of the game is just awesome. All in all it was really nice!
