Did you work in a team?
Nope, I worked alone. It was a fun experience though!

Was the resolution a challenge?
Making a 64x64 visual novel is a challenge in itself because fitting so much text in such a tiny resolution is not an easy task. I drew my own font and wrote short sentences and everything worked out in the end, though! I'm also not a very good artist, but in 64x64 that doesn't stand out much.

What did you learn?
I finished something, so that makes me very happy in the first place. But I also learned that technology advancements and better graphical capabilities do not necessarily mean we have to make more graphically complicated games. An Atari 2600 game is as good as it was in the past as it is today. If anything, more powerful technology allows us to choose how we want our game to look.

Amazing! When I saw the thumbnail I was like "a visual novel in 64x64, no way" but it looks absolutely lovely. And the small size emphasizes how much of a difference all the wobbling and moving makes with pictures and texts in these games, that are admittedly very static. Professional level polish right here.

Hahahahaha! Thank you very much, I'm super glad you like what I've done here!

I really liked all the visual flair! The animations really help bring the game to life.

Developer

Thank you very much!

Really excellent game here! I especially like the choices you made for the colors, between the backgrounds and the characters in front of them. Also the text is really well done. I also did my own text for my game (also had a lot of dialogue) but I think yours is nice and stylish.

Thank you very much, I'm glad you like it! I've almost had no free time to check as many of the other submissions as I would've liked this last week, but once I get a free moment I'll make sure to check your game!

Well thank you, I hope you get the chance. After reviewing almost all the games, yours is definitely in my top 20.

Developer

Thank you! I'm glad you liked it so much!

Lovely game, I like it a lot! The story is nice and sweet and depicts friendship nicely! The graphics are amazing, it almost feels like it isn't low rez! The music and sound effects are also nice and the music cutoffs are well timed! Loved it, nice work!

Thank you very, very much! I'm super happy you liked it!

Very cute, it's impressive how expressive the characters are given the low resolution :) nice work!

Developer

Haha, thank you very much!

I loved pixelart and music! It's hard to convey facial expressions on such a low resolutions. Good job!

Yes, a backlog would be a nice feature :)

Developer

Yes, the backlog has been required multiple times. I plan to add it in the future (maybe), but I just didn't have enough time to implement it before the deadline :( I'm happy you liked the game, thank you very much for playing it!

I can relate to Fuyunko as my PC is super slow too and in need of an upgrade!

I really enjoyed this.  A nice little story with fun characters.   You did a great job on keeping the text readable at such a low resolution and the little text animations added a lot too.  Really cool music and even cooler that you composed it all yourself.

Developer

Buy some red RAM it's faster. Also get an aerodynamic computer case, that also makes it faster.

Thank you very much! I'm so happy you enjoyed it! Thanks a lot!

Really enjoyed the story, plus the text was really easy to read which is a challenge to do well in the limited pixels with so much reading. I wish the text sounds were a bit mellower, but that is my only complaint.

Developer

I will remember to make the text sounds mellower if I ever work on a remake or on another visual novel! Thank you very much and I'm happy you liked it!

Great job making emotive faces at such a low resolution. I was also impressed by how you managed to inject personality and flow into the dialogue despite having such a limited number of characters to work with.

Thank you very much!

this was cute and super chill! Plus it was actually a bit longer than I expected so kudos!

This was SO CUTE. I loved the limited palette on the characters and the text animations. Turns out I DO want to play a 64px visual novel!

Developer(+1)

Who makes those things anyway?

Haha, I'm so glad you liked it!

Like the character artwork a lot. Nice job.

Thank you!

I forgot to comment on this yesterday;

Absolutely loved the writing. I actually died when there was a reference to the how having red on a PC made it faster joke. Portraits are super cute too, and sounds and music was amazing.

Hahaha, thank you very much! I'm glad you like my potato sense of humor hahaha. Thank you for your review, I'm really glad you liked it!

Super cute! Loved the story and great use of facial expressions and text dialog system. Minor comment - while i really enjoyed the acoustic background music, I felt like the text "blips" were a little harsh on the ears and didn't quite match the music. Again, great job!

Developer(+1)

Thank you! I'm happy you enjoyed it! Yes, the sound part was a little rushed, there are some details I would've liked to revise a little more but time was not on my side! Haha, thanks!

DAMN. I love this! Definitely a standout game! Great story, art, everything! I hope you get one of the top tiers!
Only thing, I know it's a stupid complaint, but its a just a bit long. Felt that it could've ended after the "plot twist" just fine. I know, I know, character development and whatnot...

Developer(+1)

Haha, thanks a lot! While at some point I also considered ending it at that point, I always felt that had I done that, not only characters would've not had enough development, but also the ending would've been kinda sad and I don't like sad endings 😅

Loved it. Super expressive in such a small space.

WOW! the game seemed incredible to me, I did not expect such a successful visual novel at this resolution and I was very surprised, the sound of the letters when they appear is super comfortable, and above all the music is very well chosen.

Thank you very, very much!
