Did you work in a team?
3. Programmer, pixel artist, musician. It was fun.

Was the resolution a challenge?
We used Unity's Pixel Perfect Camera system to give a genuine 64x64 effect. I was experienced with these kinds of low-rez games.

What did you learn?
It was our pixel artist's first project where she used Aseprite.

Small simple game, reaction time is a bit tight so I ended up mostly as a green lion to minimize distance to any color I needed to switch. Music is a bit simple, but fits the circus-like style of the game. Nicely done!

Developer

Thanks!

You can actually get to the rightest color from the leftest color by moving to the left. And vice versa.

Didn’t try that :P good to know

Good idea for the game mechanic. it would be nicer if you could access the color selection directly rather than scroll through them. i found that frustrating.

Thanks. Hmm, do you mean by number keys or something? That sounds like a good idea.

170 ! Nice nostalgia feelings , reminds me Circus Charlie for NES.

Found interesting bug. If you mash jump button from the start  - lion can fly ))

Developer

Thank you!

I'll look into that bug, thank you letting me know.

Such a well-scoped classic touch!

I have always loved changing certain states in the games to overcome obstacles, and I have created a few games in the past with that idea in mind. This has reminded me of those, and I certainly enjoyed it for a couple of minutes.

Good job!

Nice! It was quite challenging for me to coordinate the colour change and the jump to begin with, having only a short time to act but I settled into it quickly. This would make a very good game for younger children with the playful concept and the quick colour identification. Good work, team!

I LOVE Color Lion. Its very polished. Doesn't try to do 5 million things. It just keeps it simple and i respect it for that. The sillyness and childishness of it all has me smiling so much you have no idea.

It really feels like a "kids learn color" type game for the NES.

Thanks!

I like the idea. I think gameplay perfectly fits to the low-rez game. Simple and really enjoyable!

The jumping feels good, enough hang time to get through the hoops comfortably without being super timing specific while also focusing on the colours, and it was intuitive to use the L/R arrows to chose the colours, that's good design and didn't need an explicit tutorial.

It can be tough with these low rez constraints to make good looking animations, but I thought the run loop for the lion was pretty good. Well done, nice entry!

Thank you very much!
