Did you work in a team?
Just me.
Was the resolution a challenge?
Trying to cram enough detail in the limited screen space so you could tell what was going on was a bit tricky. Had to really lean into less is more in this jam.
What did you learn?
While I've tinkered with game development off and on since the mid-90's, nothing really stuck and this is actually the FIRST thing I've released publicly, so I've learned quite a bit. It's also been quite useful in me learning how to use the Godot engine.

Really fun game loop there with a nice even difficulty progression. The music was on point and the game sounded great.
Great use of the tiny available res to still give the player enough room to react to the debris and each different debris having different mechanics and speeds is really the key thing I think that makes this game fun to play.
A fun game, and a great entry!
thank you.
Simple mechanics and a good challenge. You did put a fun little game there!
Thank you.
Pretty fun game! My high score was 1080 points.
Out of curiosity, is there any reason to not spam the 4 directions other than making your hands hurt? Seemed like that was my go-to strategy for this game.
Other than that point, pretty good work!
Heh, if your reflexes are fast enough(mine aren't) you could probably get a better score by not spamming random directions(especially as the speed increases) but I'll have to look into some ways to discourage direction spamming, I'll have to think a bit on that one. Thanks for the feedback, BTW.
Good simple mechanics, perfect for a jam game! Wait, this is your first ever released game? Incredible! We should celebrate. Allow me to hand out the chocolate cigars.
my best score \o/
Its so hard to tell which direction they'll hit from! and spamming every direction doesn't seem to work consistently so theres no cheese ^^ great game!
The mechanics are really simple, but it's very entertaining with how much garbage is flying at you (and how much garbage ISNT flying at you). Graphics and sounds fit in very well, its nice how many variants there are on the basic space rock.
I think this game is really innovative! It's basically a rhythm game where the player can't just memorize the song. I think if you changed the sound effects a little (like a different pitch for each shield direction) one might actually be able to get some good music out of it! The organ in the background also fit the game really well.
The only minor nitpick for me is that the title screen is a bit blurry, but that's understandable given the jam constraint.
Thanks. I might do another pass on some of the graphics once the voting process is over. Simplifying the title screen graphics should eliminate a lot of the blurriness for instance.
Great game!
But sometimes you want to press the two arrows to "shields up" diagonally
8 directional shields are planned for the next release. Thank you for the feedback.
This game hits home for a reindhart main got to 1080 after a few trys.
This is a fun little game! Simple to play but fair to the player when you get blasted. Nicely done!
Thank you.
A simple, clear and enjoyable game, this is what many games lack here. Wish you to master Godot and make a lot of releases on it!
Thank you for the encouragement.
Fun little game! As you said, less is more with this jam, and as simple as the sprites were I had no trouble being able to tell what was happening.
I love the cover of The Planets, Mars in the background, a fun little touch that fit the feel and context of the game very well.
Good job!
Thanks. I don't realize how close Mars Bringer of War was to the Super Mario bros 3 airship theme until I rendered it using an NES themed soundfont
Congrats on finishing your game! I wonder if you could try a version where you can activate the shields in the diagonals as well as current directions, giving you 8 angles to block projectiles. This would give you a little bit more control. Nice work
Thank you and thanks for the suggestion. I'l test that out in a post jam update.
Pretty fun! Good job. High Score: 911
Thank you! I'll check out your entry tonight.
