Did you work in a team?
There was 2 of us working on this game. I (rsvpasap) handled the code and some art and Omar handled art and music. This was our 5th LOWREZJAM and it's always a blast!

Was the resolution a challenge?
Both members of our team are pixel artists so the artwork wasn't an issue. Creating gameplay that also felt fun at this size was a little more of a challenge.

What did you learn?
I've always been keen to make a missile command-ish game so this felt like a good opportunity! I thought it was going to be a lot easier than it ended up being, but we got through it!

Simple and fun, and I loved the colour palette.

Honestly can’t think of anything to complain about.

This gives me nostalgia for that one minigame on the nintendo DS port of mario 64 where you protect the flowers with a slingshot. Interesting resource management that I didn't notice until I started running out of ammo, seems like a good way to balance out the ability to take out enemies. I wasn't expecting the boss. All the spritework was faithful to the 64x constraints, although several elements left the 64x64 grid while moving, resulting in some minor subpixel movement.

Cute take on an old classic! I like the graphical style! Kudos for even making a boss! If I were to critique something, I think the HUD at the top of the screen is a bit redundant – the hives and flowers are already shown at the bottom of the screen. Great entry!

Interesting gameplay and idea!
But in some reason i miss a spider-boss form gif, idk (i gon 176 points)

Hard, but good! You should add a bar of honey ammo left. I like the gameplay, well done!

Thanks for playing and for the feedback!

good palette choice. I don’t know u can run out of ammo. Hope there is some visual clue about it.

Developer

Thanks for checking it out! Each hive tracks its own honey levels and will "surrender" when out of shots!

Art looks great! I appreciate the easy controls and on-screen prompts of which buttons to click. Boss was a bit easy but overall fun game!

Nice little reinterpretation of missile command. Very well done with the right level of dificulty for some fun shooting and needing to keep an eye on your honey levels! Good entry guys!

thanks so much! <3

I didn't know that ammo was limited until I meet the boss hahaha

Awesome game, the art and the music really takes me back to the Gameboy era

Developer

haha thanks for checking it out! <3

Very nice game. It really teaches you to be efficient with your ammo! Also I like the fact that it gives the player some room to breathe, in that if some of your hives/flowers get destroyed you no longer have to protect them! So you can save some ammo.

thanks so much for checking it out! <3

It feels like a Gameboy port of a classic arcade game - and I love it! Graphics are beautiful by the way!

I enjoyed this game a lot! The combat is so simple but feels so satisfying, and the art style is super cute

Great art, I love the palette. The game itself is also pretty fun to play, I was positively surprised when I saw the boss, super cool! Good job!

Developer

glad we could surprise you! :D

Beautiful lowrez graphics with really nice palette choices. I always found Missile Command to be a fairly dull game  but this is definitely an improvement over the original. The gameplay was engaging and enjoyable. Great job team!

Thanks so much! Missile Command was one of the first games I owned so it's always had a soft spot in my heart but I'm glad you enjoyed ours! <3

Great work with this! I loved the sound, and the graphics did well at communicating what was going on. Nicely done getting accuracy issues sorted too, as a player I didn't notice too much weird behavior due to limited tiles, which must have been hard to get right 👍

Developer

Thanks so much!

Nice game, I like the art style. Unfortunately I ran out of honey during the boss battle so I had to wait for the spiders to finish me off. Also, they did, but the game didn't end, even though all hives and plants were destroyed. Perhaps there is something wrong with the game over condition.

Developer

oh noo! you're *supposed* to get a game over when that happens! Thanks so much for checking it out though! :D

Maybe it was RNG on my side, but it feels like the right-most hive is much less likely to be destroyed than the other ones. Very rarely it had a spider flying towards it.

Developer

Great notes! It is (as far as I know) true random so it really might be some bad RNG!

Art and sound are great. I think it was a really smart design choice to make the shooting AOE based, I think the obvious choice would have been to just shoot bullets but placing the bombs led to much more interesting interaction with predicting the movement of the spiders. Great stuff, good work!

Developer

Thank you!! <3
