I think the robots in this game have a really stylish and well-designed appearance! However, I found the double jump mechanic to be a bit off and the motion blur effect may not have been working correctly. The game's art style reminded me of Hyper Light Drifter, which was really nice. Overall, great job on the jam!

Since art is one of the things that people notice first. Bravo on that. Short intro to story. Well done on that. Juicy attacks. Superb Job on that.

BUT the motion blur takes away from all of these. I understand that your intention was maybe to simulate a 'toxic environment' / 'dizzy' feeling perhaps? But that is not interfering a lot with the gameplay so do rethink on that.

Apart from that, everything is extremely well polished & thought of for a jam game. 😄

So there are a few things:

Well done:

  • Amazing visuals, the effects very well acomplished
  • An intro telling a story, Bravo
  • The controls are responsive and it feels natural to move arround and atack.
  • When being atacked it is great to have a a knockback

To improve:

  • The motion blur its a bit excessive i had to disable it in order to move arround.
  • The enemies provide no feedback when getting hit and they just simply disapear when dead.
  • Instead of adding force for the double jump just change the up speed so it has a consistent height (right now if i press jump twice very fast i go way up because the force is being added twice).

The Overall feeling is nice

PD: for some reason it is not loading on firefox. At least for me.

Thank you very much for your feedback. I will try to improve on the next game jam

Super pretty pixel art. Nice juice in both the jumping and especially attacking! The blur effect was also far too pronounced for me - you almost had to stop moving to see what was going on.

Binding attack to mouse is also not a good idea, as some keyboard (mine included) will not allow for a mouse input while the keyboard is in use.

Other than that very well made!

Developer

Thank you for the good feedback, will try to make my next game better

The blur effect in the first area kind of gives me motion sickness, there are a few points where the camera has trouble tracking the player if they go too fast (usually by stacking diagonal jumps, which seems unintentional)

I managed to sneak past the boss and hit it until it has one health before triggering the battle start where I beat it

It's difficult to tell how much damage I take or deal since the only entity with a health bar is the boss, and the regular enemies don't seem responsive to attacks

The art and sound is nice

Can't leave first screen.

The visual and mood look really well made for a jam and I also loved the character and world design! I made it until the part that you have to kill all robots to progress but wasn't sure if my attack was working or not towards them; I'd suggest to add some feedback that you are damaging them.

Developer

Yeah i forgot to add some feedback.  You don,t really see the knockback on the robot
