The atmosphere and the music is top. Jumping around felt really good. My only real complaint is the normal walk speed that feel a bit slow(dash solve that greatly but I don't know would have liked a faster walk speed).
I liked the puzzles that brought to explore other areas. Platforming was great all the deaths were my fault.
I have to report a bug happening when you hit an up and down platform on the side. Caused me to clip through walls. Though I find plenty of treasure this way ahah
Enjoyment 4/5: Enjoyed my time with this one. One puzzle might have been more frustrating than fun had I not had someone there to point out the (in retrospect obvious) solution to me.
Execution 4/5: Not necessarily absolutely stellar on level design but mostly solid all around, if a bit 'tight' as far as requirements for making jumps. i only seemed to have one walljump and it was unclear if this was intentional.
Sensory 4/5: Music and graphics get the job done here pretty pleasantly.
Metroidvania 5/5: Checking all the boxes or was set up to so far. Nothing super-clever but it's getting the job done genre-wise.
In between all the little demos, this one really felt like playing a game. It feels well-rounded. The visuals are nice, lights and colors adding good atmosphere, and the music and sounds are good too. I really liked that the focus lied on exploration and puzzles. The section with the arrows that led to a chest with blue gems was tough as shit, but doably tough, and it felt great when I got gud and managed to do it. The controls are solid enough that a section like that feels fun (rather than just fighting against the controls). Difficulty was well-balanced. All in all, a really fun entry, and lots of potential for more. All 5s from me.
Also, nice unintentional trolling when I kept missing this jump up to a signpost and then finally getting there just to see "No entry yet" lmao.
Great entry, Took me a while to figure out the puzzle and getting over the spikes but plays well and the art, ambience & sfx are great, good job.
Thank you very much, we are very pleased to hear that you liked it.
Hey, this game really gave off those metroidvania vibes! The mechanics were smooth, and the animations and vfx were on point. Great job with this one!
Awesome entry.
First one I gave all 5s.
The writing, look and sound are all very atmospheric and charming, the puzzles are fun and the character feels great to control.
The margin of error on some of the dashes are a bit tight. Maybe when you hit a ceiling, have a few frames where you stay at max height just so there's a slightly wider reaction time. That section with the spikes and dashing gave me the most trouble, especially with the respawn point being quite aways back.
It also might help if the dash can be performed without having to hold a direction. Again, the area with spikes and dashing. and all those cubes; very tricky to navigate when I couldn't initiate a dash from a stand-still, as I'd move into spikes. Maybe that's by design, in which case, as you were.
(Also, this seems like it's extremely specific to me, but the first time I saw one of those dash refreshers, I thought it was a sign telling me it was a one way. Like, I could only use that route to enter the room. I got it eventually when I compared it to the rune, but yeah. Probably just me. XD)
The way you had to order your wall jump and double jump for certain places was an interesting wrinkle I don't think I've seen elsewhere.
I think the funnest part was weaving through the arrows, even if I died quite a bit.
Again, great entry.
I'll post my records when I get them up.
Thanks for so detailed reply!
Yeah the whole system of multiple dash charges with that rune is a bit messed up. We draw this "double dash" rune in the last day of submission and forgot to sign it somehow so players cant understand what it is. Other problem that we dont have required quantity of peeople who tested our game in early stage so some parts of the game feels unintuitive or strange on first glance. Your suggestion about staying at max height after taking it is actually simple and smart but sadly we could figure out it beforehand. All your notes have fair point so in future we should ask you to test our future games :)
Very happy that u enjoy playing our game and thanks for putting me on joy with your reply!
Here's the record: Timeless Realm 1/3
Great game!
very interesting game mechanics, and I really enjoyed that this was a purely platforming game.
Wow, such a nice game. Beautiful graphics and artstyle. Well done^^
Wonderful entry, wow! I am amazed how you put it all together.
Starting from visuals: great pixel art, and well chosen color palette. I love what you did with lighting and dash/double jump trail, beautiful.
Game is quite hard at the basement level but revarding and beatable after few tries, level design is very good. Game is planned and executed perfectly, one of the best so far, congratz my friend!
Yeah basement is quite hard i agree:) Glad that you like it and thank you for detailed responce!
This is so fun! I love the progression! It is a good difficulty as well. I would love a full version!
Appreciate your review thank you for playing :)
This is a really nice game, i loved the pixel art and especially the cool clock effect and runes!
Glad that you enjoy it :)
Pretty casual, the music is ambient and lets you focus on platforming haha. Loved the no-combat approach you took (also went with that for this jam), the platforming's tight and the runes and puzzles do make it feel like a metroidvania. Loved it!
We will keep move forward in our skills. Glad that you like it and thanks for playing!
Hey nice game, I like how you went with more a platformer than a combat focused game. Looks and sounds great! I got lost after finding the Corridors portal/clock. I couldn't figure out the colour puzzle up above and I have to go now but I will try again when I get back!
We dont have any sign or hint what kind of rune it is but it allows you to make addiotional dash, so if you can stack here u can pass it and see the color puzzle hint. Thank you for feedback.
Fantastic pixel art! Really enjoyed the vibe of this game overall, although I couldn't figure out how to proceed after collecting the 11 green coins!
Thank you for your feedback, can you describe please where did you stuck with? Did you pass the first location “Hall”? Have you talked to NPC? Have you tried all movement combinations trying to pass all visible ways? We trying to make our game intuitively playable so would be great if you can fully enjoy game process.
Aha, I've just tried playing again - it turns out that the arrow pointing to the exit is actually a rune that I can pick up! Doing this has allowed me to progress further - I'll let you know how I get on!
