I had a blast with this one! I even made it to two rounds left without having to restart, but it took a lot of strategy. And the difficulty still carried through during the restart where I only had one ally by the end.
Suggestions:
When updating the abilities, it can be difficult to know what previous abilities I had with that player so that I make the most optimal decision. I noticed I can still hover my mouse over some players to see their abilities, but the ability options menu covers most of the screen. Maybe moving the ability options menu to one corner when it pops up could solve that issue. It can also be frustrating when I'm not sure which of my allies has the 'long range attack ability because they're all cornered by opponents so it doesn't show the ability when you hover over them. Unless I'm missing it, maybe some side menu for the player to click on to state all the allies' abilities could help. I still had a great time, but it would help to add something like that.
I finally made it to the end without having to restart. I loved the challenge!
Really interesting and challenging game !
Intresting) i like it
Thank you ❤️
Proc: good art | good concept | nice narrative
Cons: no audio
Note: the game seems pretty easy, but I am not sure about the because it gives me error after some minutes playing it and so I can't play it more time. I would like to be able to download the game
oh no that's a shame, I'll add downloadable version, I'll mention you when I do that... On what navigator?
I use Yandex Browser, but it as far as I know it uses Chromium, so it should be similar to Chrome
Very cool concept! First turn based game in a pile of platformers(including mine lol)
I'd love to hear some simple audio, but it's still very clear without audios, tho I didn't notice when my soldier took hit, maybe you could add a little animation to show that.
Unique concept, perfect execution, simple and lovely visual, would be a full 5 star for me if there was audio. Cheers to my fellow Godot dev!
Thank you very much ! Yeah I'm aware of the lack of feedback on the player damage, but I was struggling with how can I show that without making a cheap animation... For the music yeah I know, but I run out of time and I wanted to concentrate on my gameplay loop, testing my bugs and difficulty... I hope I will be more organized the next jams
I really enjoyed this one! It had me strategizing at every step. I'm also glad you keep your perks after each retry, it makes each new run a different experience and I survive longer.
Thank you very much ! Yeah I was willing to do a sort of rogue like game when there are upgrades between runs, and I also had to fit the limitation, so yeah you cannot win in the first run. (I'm still attached to have an end screen in my game that put a goal in player's mind so this is not exactly a rogue like.
This is so cool, there is a lot of strategy involved and it keeps you hooked. The art is really good and the game is so much fun.
If I may give just a bit of feedback, I wasn't 100% aware of enemy attacks (what kinds of attacks they could do, their range, etc). Gameplay-wise this is the only issue I had. But wow, this is one of my favorite entries so far, I didn't stop playing until I beat the game.
Based Danny Farley with a huge attack range and 5 HP after the upgrades haha:
Oh, I recognize you ! You made uncadaveric the last game jam, I'll go check your new entry right away ! I'm so glad you have fun with it ! And beat it is not that easy, it demands a lot of perseverance... Fun fact about the development : at the first time, I was willing to add a pilot generation that differentiate from the mech, and I gave up that idea, but you can see that if you reload the game, the name and the profile picture of the pilot is all generated, in fact there is 3 unique profile picture with 20 variation of colors, and a huge amount of possible generated name.
For me this was the best game of this Jam! Really well done!
Wow thank you ❤️ I think you haven't played enough submission then 😋
Well Ive played and rated 50 games so I think I played enough to decide that this game was the one I liked most
Ok ok I admit, I have no choice but accept the compliment then 🤣
This is an amazing game for a 3-day work, very enjoyable in terms of gameplay, like I was seriously hooked and could not stop playing till I won, very good job and my only recommendation is to put music/sfx in it and it would be a blast.
Best of luck.
Thanks, it is very rewarding to hear that type of reviews, I'm happy to see you got a lot of fun ! But yeah music and sound effects are the first thing that I give up when I'm missing time, I'll work on it if I have time
This is an impressive strategy game. I never managed to save the crew though
Thank you very much ❤️ I admit that I didn't had the time to balance it enough
Genius!! I think the game mechanics is of hardcore lolol
Yeah it's very hard, especially because I was willing to not have a game that you can beat the first time, to respect the limitation, but I admit it's too hard now
This is an impressive entry! Great strategy, lots of content, and surprisingly complex for a game made in a short period. And made with Godot too is always a bonus!
Really great job!
Thank you ❤️ I admit that I crunched a little, especially the last day, and my first plan was way more ambitious, I have to get rid of that habit for the next jam
Absolutely wonderful! I was surprised just how much strategy there was to the game, with positioning proving vital, and target priority making a big difference to how long I survived. I found on each cycle I'd make it a turn further, which felt pretty perfect in terms of progression.
The various upgrades were great, with the tradeoffs between different boosts being genuinely interesting decisions.
I love the tiny 3d models, which I found really charming, and the UI was clean, uncluttered and easy to read.
Only real complaint is that I didn't immediately realise that enemies were capable of ranged attacks - would be great to have something to show this happening visually. Would love some music too if you were to update :)
Didn't manage to complete this evening, but will be returning to try again for sure!
Thank you so much for your feedback, I'm glad you had fun with the game !
For the various update, I made my system to support a lot of more various upgrade, like they were two upgrade I delete two hour before the jam (the first was "Move next to an enemy cost 0 action points" and the second was "Attack ennemies cost 0 action points", I just realized that combined with other powers they were two over powered")
I did a lot of effort on the UI, it has to be simple and readable, if you say that you didn't saw the ranged ennemy property, that's a failure to me... But you know if you have no unit selected you can hover an ennemy to see its move and attacks range, maybe I'm missing some tutorial here.
And yeah the game is pretty hard, I didn't managed to balance it enough, I really had to sleep and stop testing my game 😅 (there were a lot of bugs)
Thank you very much ❤️
I came back again to play and managed to beat it - it really is a fantastic game :)
Nice ! Did you manger to survive with all the mechs ?
Just about! Took a fair few rounds but I got there
