good job on your first game jam. The game feels very short, but the level design progression is very good.

Thank you, i was planning on having more levels but ran out of time to work on it

Submitted(+1)

very cool idea, it's a pity that there are so few levels

Developer

I was planning on making more but didnt have the time.

I really like the implementation of the limitation here, mixing puzzle and ability. I would be great to add tons of juicy effects on it.

Developer

Thank you

Very decent entry! You've nailed down a fantastic core mechanic, intriguing enough to keep the player's attention, while also deep enough that you can create quite a few more levels. Since this is your first game jam game, I'm gonna point out a few things that I think you can work on your next jam:

  • A core mechanic is just, well, a mechanic. Without other bells and whistles like art and music, the game feels more like a plain math problem than an actual game. Try to decorate it a bit next time: choose a theme, design the art around that theme, pick some sick music, etc.
  • You obviously know a bit about level archetypes, even if you don't realize it. May I suggest you this reading material for your next puzzle game, so that you can dish out interesting levels with ease for your next jam?
  • During the development of a game, there are a lot of things that seems obvious to you, but the player won't understand them at all. Sure, you know exactly where each lazer goes, its orientation, its length and blah blah. But that's because you've been programming and staring at each lazer for hours, while the player did not. After completing a feature, I suggest you sit back and think about whether the player can understand the feature immediately, and if not, then how much explanation you will need to put in. If you have friends or family members, you can give it to them and ask them to play blindly, with no instruction, to see how well they understand a game. That's what I'd usually done for each game jam.

Overall a decent entry, and your first game jam entry too! Pat yourself in the back, read all of the comments other people have written, play some more games, and prepare for the next game jam. It only gets better from here, good luck!

Thats a lot of great information, ill definitely try to add a bit more decoration and music/sfx next time. also thats good advice to get someone to blindly play it. I will definitely have a read through of the material you sent.

good for a first game, pretty basic but it gets the job done. Congrats!

Developer

Thanks

sorry, but i can't walkthrough this game, 'cause my window resolution mush lower than expected by game / please in next time set stretch mode to 2D(in godot 3) or Canvas_Item(in godot 4), it's literally 1 click to fix it

path to this property: display/window/stretch/mode

Developer(+1)

sorry about that, thanks for telling me how to fix this, ill implement it when i can

Developer(+1)

should be fixed now

Last level was tricky, need to push character to wall to clear it

Submitted(+1)

Not bad for a first game, movement felt good, you got me a few times with the timer lol. I would say it just needs some sounds to spice it up a bit

Developer

Thank you, I thought about adding sounds but I had no time and had never done it before, next time I'll definitely try to add some

Submitted(+1)

fun but got stuck on the 3rd level

Developer

make sure you are on fullscreen, also you cant pass though beams

Submitted(+1)

We all have to start somewhere right? Keep going!

Developer(+1)

Thank you

Neat game once I figured out that I needed to expand the game window to see the whole screen. For some reason the game view was cutting off the button.  Once I did, I was able to complete some levels and the game ran great! I ran out of time on the bigger map. Good job!

Developer

Thank you, i should probably explain that you need to expand the window lol

Honestly, no clue what to do in this game! Not bad at all for what's seemingly a first game, the moving character feels nice! Some sorta tutorial would be cool, even if it's just text on the floor haha

Developer

Your supposed to move onto the buttons to power the beams of electricity. thanks for the feedback

Submitted

Ya I did that but then I just kinda got stuck :/

Developer

do you mean like the game didnt progress or you got boxed in. because you cant go through the beams. Its like that so you have to plan out your route

Submitted

I was at a room at some point, there was 2 laser things, and the game did not allow me to leave, so I basically was just stuck in a cycle of moving around in that room, respawning, repeat.

Developer

thats strange, you should be sent to the next level after you activate all the beams. If you dont mind could you send a video of you getting stuck so i can fix it?

Submitted

Yeah. Honestly, no clue what to do! I seem to move on to the 2nd level seemingly at random?

Developer

you need to play in full screen, the rest of the screen is cut off if you aren't

Developer

Wish i had more time but i had to do stuff so this was the latest i could submit
