Enjoyed it, the graphics really stood out to me.
the game is very cool and the visuals are really pretty, It's cool that you increased the acceleration, the first time I tested it I found it a little slow.
Damn, it's so smooth and satisfying!
The movement is so polished - great job!
amazing!!
Cool game, it gets really frantic but the rings and shields are visually distinct enough from the traffic to avoid situation where you get caught out by not know which lane you need to be in. Looking at the other comments I suspect the difficulty has come down in the update because I made it to almost 450k on my first go, my only criticism would be that it occasionally felt too generous as I think there were times where I pressed the button too late for the sprite to switch lanes in time but still didn't seem to get punished for it.
You would be correct! The difficulty hasn't come down exactly, but it was adjusted (lower max speed, speed gain is on a curve now, traffic density was increased) and I finished the combo counter which resulted in higher scores. There's also a lingering collision bug where the colliders "miss" each other at high speeds, but I haven't reworked that yet to use interpolation properly - I believe that is what contributes to the "too generous" feeling. I'm going to do a few more updates after the jam. Thanks for playing!
Awesome job guys. Game feels like it could easily belong in an arcade cabinet, it’s fun and feels good to control.
Music was great but the game started off pretty loud, would’ve preferred if the default volume was lower than it is currently. The sound design in general is great, swerving between cars at high speeds brings it all together and then resetting the speed on damage allows you to build up your shields again, I think I would’ve liked to reset to a slightly higher speed when taking damage at max as compared to eachother when you go slow it feels verry slow
Apart from that though overall it feels like a well put together game, nailing the outrun aesthetic
Thanks for playing Murgn! A new build was uploaded: Rebalanced the speeds and audio, and have added a combo counter to incentivize the risk v reward of keeping your combo going vs shield safety. Also, lowered the volume. I hope these changes address your feedback.
The presentation is outstanding! I love the atmosphere with the environment art, the music and the sounds of the ship, the gameplay fits that nice chilled-out vibe too then wakes me up from that trance when the ship starts ramping up to high speeds.
Anyway, I scored ~66000 on my first try, 102290 on my second, might give it a third try to see if I can go higher.
I got so far (72,350) idk how many you guys have did, anyways love it !
This game is really pretty with nice intuitive controls — though starting with “Press Left / Right” instead of “Press Spacebar” might have better conveyed that it’s a two-button game — unless i’m missing that spacebar does actually do something?
You’ve really captured that frantic feel one gets from antigrav racers like Fast RMX or the F-Zero games. I’m not sure if it’s just my 13” screen being difficult, but it can be tough to distinguish the shields from the other vehicles, so at higher speeds i mostly find myself trying to target the big rings, but the twisting turning track means sometimes i target wrong! I appreciate the full reset on speed upon taking damage, preventing spiraling. My high score is only 128860, but it’d be much lower without that! It also provides an opportunity to recompose and to appreciate the gorgeous backgrounds.
Great graphics!
This is so satisfying to play, and the presentation is stunning! I scored 102k. I also love that there is health and shields to prevent you from failing immediately at high speeds, as well as the slowdown when you get hit. Just gives you more chances to save a good run.
I applaud the presentation of this one. Great graphics and music. Core gameplay loop is solid as well even if it has not much to do with gravity.
AAAAAH died at 99K, a very good game. Everything was great execept the fact that we go back to slugish pace after being hit (maybe just decreased the speed by a few)
