Tough but very enjoyable game!
Jumping isometrically felt a bit inaccurate, I think something that could help would be a 2D shadow following you on the ground (can be achieved with a raycast). Thank you a lot for making re-spawns work fine when you get to 0 HP without resetting the cookies, I think the game would've been unbeatable otherwise for me haha. Final fight with Evil was also very challenging
Loved the character sprites and ended up beating it :D
Thanks for playing to the end!
There should be a shadow underneath the character unless there's a rendering issue (you can check the screenshots). But I did it the lazy way with a "Shadows only" capsule mesh and a point light source pointing straight down. It might be a bit hard to see against the dark floor as well.
Excellent and polished little game, with solid mechanics. Loved the mix of 2D and 3D graphics, reminded me of Mario RPG and Sonic 3D. I also liked that making mistakes never felt punishing or unfair. 48/48 fun.
Thank you for your kind words. I appreciate it!
very neat, I really like the look of the 3d models for drones while the rest of the world is more psuedo-3d. Platforming and boss fight were pretty fun. It would have been nice to have some way to restore HP other than dying though, at least when going into the boss fight. Whether not I would damage or be damaged when jumping on a drone seemed to be a bit inconsistent, so I ended up just trying to avoid them entirely.
Totally, if I had more time the drones would probably have dropped hearts sometimes.
Regarding damaging the drones, the game checks if you're above the enemy and falling when the hitboxes overlap. So you can't jump into enemies, only drop onto them. Try to line up the drop shadows since it might be difficult to judge the correct height, and hold the jump button when you connect to bounce higher. The enemies need to be closer to damage you, than you need to be to damage them.
Thanks for playing, and providing feedback! :)
Great isometric platformer. It even has a boss battle.
Thanks for playing! :)
Damn this game reminds me a lot of a PS1 game I cannot even remember the name!
Good job!
Alundra maybe? There were probably a few games like this on PS1.
Thanks for playing!
Not Alundra because it was isometric camera, I can't remember hahaha
should have definitely read the page first, didn't realize i could goomba stomp the drones (didn't make intuitive sense to me because blades hurty)
i had fun :)
Yeah I think it's dumb that itch game jam pages don't make you navigate to the actual game page for downloads, as it does with browser games.
I'm glad you figured it out and had fun. :)
Its a cute game mixed with 2d and 3d element. Can't complete because I crash lol.
Cookies/10
I'm sorry to hear about the crash. Another player had a crash after the intro, that seemed to resolve itself later. The only crash I know about happens if a gamepad is connected (or reconnected) while the game is running. So maybe check USB devices? I don't know, I might just be running an especially bad version of unity.
If this rating period ever ends I'll try to get the WebGL export working too. If it's a Unity issue, then maybe a different platform export may work better.
Fun game. I like the Mario mechanics being put into an isometric world
Thanks for playing!
I'm glad you liked it. :)
I don’t think I’ve ever seen an isometric platformer before. It’s cool in theory but in practice it’s very hard to see where you’re jumping. At least the game is forgiving and the design is very nice!
Yeah, they used to be fairly common back in the 8bit-16bit era, but the perspective was often a challenge. I feel like most of them didn't even have drop shadows. :D
I tried to be pretty generous with the size of platforms and enemy hitboxes.
What the hell, this game is so cool. Love the retro isometric game look. Even though it was short, it's still one of the coolest submissions. Really good job!
You're too kind.
Thanks for playing! :)
The game is quite impressive
Thank you!
I tried my best. :)
I like mirror match in video games.
I'm typically bad at these kind of games, but this one worked well, I landed on the platforms I wanted to and didn't slip.
Got all the cookies!!
Thanks for playing to the end!
Heartheartheartheartheart <333333333
Really cool! Play this during the boss fight.
Is Evil the Shadow the Hedgehog of the Neuro-verse? 🤔
I'm trying to play the game but it crashes after the first dialogue :(
Edit: I got it to work (I don't know how) and it was very fun! Nice art art the gameplay feels pretty good.
I'm happy to hear you got it working.
Thank you for giving it another try! :)
Great game!! A bit confused in perspective at first, but after a while it's a blast!! :neurohypers:
But I don't want to hurt Evil :evilBLUBBERS:
I'm glad you enjoyed it.
I feel like Evil is like a bratty kid that's always ready to start shit, but cries uncle as soon as someone fights back a little. I'm sure she's just fine. ;)
Its the first game I've played where an enemy try's to stomp YOU like a goomba.
I figured they would have the same abilities, since it's like a mirror match. :)
Thanks for playing!
