Description
Genres: Psytrance

Daw: FL Studio

Scale: E-Minor

BPM: 140

Plugins Used: DUNE 3, X-Pand!2, Opus, FabFilter Plugins, FL-Studio Native Plugins such as Maximus and Multiband Compressor.

Game: Mercury is a high speed first person runner and stealth game telling the story of Mercury (a thief) and a stolen special child. The game would have the player running away from people trying to get their hands on the power the child possesses (the power of spontaneous generation) in forbidden jungle ruins. The game would feel as fast as some racing games (think Redout) during tense escape scenes and then slow down during puzzles and adventuring.

Where this would fit: This track would play the player is running away for the first time into the jungle to escape the authorities.

Theme:

Runaway
Picture theme

How does it fit the theme?
Jungle-like instruments were used, the E-Minor scale creates a sense of restlessness, and the track has a pretty fast BPM of 140.

Really cool track! I can totally image this being in a high-speed racing game like Redout like you mentioned in the description! I really feel like you captured that sort of vibe. I love the way the synths sound and the aggressive, driving nature of the bass line!

Great submission!

Thank you very much!

What a great track! I love the foresty intro juxtaposed with these savage synth beats. I imagine this is what happens if you enter a dark forest and eat the mushrooms. :D

Really great and energetic mix. Thanks for sharing!

Thank you! I’m glad you enjoyed!

I stumbled upon your track on SoundCloud and was blown away by it. Really cool, great work!

Developer

Thank you for listening! Unfortunately I didn’t master for SoundCloud and it sounds pretty bad on there with the clipping and all. Glad you still liked it on there!

God dangit , the first psytrance track!  I like the fact you said stealth game as when i'm hearing this, I don't know how anybody can hide, its so explosive ! But yeah you nailed the psytrance style though, really on point.

Developer

Thank you so much! I didn’t want this track to represent the whole game, just a “runaway” / chase scene. Yeah I agree, I don’t think this would be a good track to play during stealth scenes lol.

Oof this hits hard, I love it!

Is this my favorite? It might be my favorite. It POUNDS.

Developer

Wow! Thank you so much! Being a favorite seems almost unreal to me!

Nothing like some acid for runnin' away! I always really like those 303s :D

And I really like the flutes later on in the tune.

Cool track!

Developer

Thank you! Glad you liked it!

Makes me wanna drive at night through the city, but you know, without traffic lights. Love when the harmony comes in at 1:40. A certified bop :)

Developer

Thank you! I'm glad you loved it!

Almost immediately started head-bobbing-- gurl this would be so fun at the club...

Definitely a big fan of this track, and I'd say for the genre you really aced it. Always love to hear stuff outside of the traditional. Keep writing!

Developer

Thanks a ton! Glad you enjoyed it!

That's definitely a tribal-trance-acid-infused banger. This could fit a sort-of skill-based game where you need to master a level to finish - like in Hotline Miami.

Developer

Thank you so much! Having  my track being called a banger by others really makes me happy! I’m glad you enjoyed!

Driving rhythm that swept me up in the movement and dragged me halfway down the street. I liked the sound of this track, it would definitely fit in a pursuit/chase style scene.

Developer

I’m glad that you liked it, thank you!

This is very groovy. I like this very much, very driven, definitely puts me in the mindset for the gameplay and setting you describe. (sorry my comment accidentally went through 3 times, my internet bugged out on me)

Developer

Thank you! I’m happy you liked it! And no worries; I’ve had that happen to me too lol, just internet being internet.

Really nice work! Really like how much variation this song has as it keeps progressing.

Developer(+1)

Thank you! It makes me happy that people like my style!

Cool vibe! I wasn’t expecting an acid track but it works really well with the theme. Good entry, My main nitpick is that I feel like the snare could be a little louder

Developer (1 edit) (+1)

I actually tried making it louder and making it tighter,  but it sounded muddier since it has some low end to it for when the bass drum stops.   I get what you mean though for sure and I probably could make it a tiny bit louder; thanks for the criticism!

Submitted(+1)

No problem! If the muddiness is the issue I wonder if layering a different snare on top of it would work better instead of just increasing the volume

Developer (1 edit) (+1)

That might actually work, didn't even think of layering even though it's so obvious! I'll definitely try that, thanks for the advice!

I like the variation! This caught me off guard haha, as I read the story as I'm listening. I can definitely visualise what you describe. I can hear this in a Quake-style game.

Developer

I'm glad that it caught you off guard in a good way! I sometimes have trouble blending parts together so hearing this makes me believe that I did a pretty good job.  Thank you!
