Description
Artist's note:
"First attempts at Renoise. I tried the risk because I learned it during the composition.

There are incredibly many possibilities, but time is running out and I am sending these two tracks that I would like to continue a little more😭

In terms of genre, it is a combination of 90s Jungle / DnB + a bit of Footwork and a lot of beautiful Synths.

Inspired by the PS1 / Dreamcast Era" music.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

An arcade Time Trial "running game" (like Pepsiman for PS1), but here you're a Japanese schoolboy or schoolgirl and you have to reach the first bell in your school and run through crazy alleys full of even crazier traps and obstacles...

The game is meant to frustrate players at times as it is a fast-paced game full of quick reactions.

The streets are full of people, train tracks and various chaos and you have to try to bump into them as little as possible.
Similar to "Outrun", you can run up to a "Rival student" who has also fallen asleep, and if you outrun him, you'll get points.

There are also crazy creatures that are created when you run very fast
(by collecting various power up points)
the so-called adrenaline hallucinations arise and you may encounter, for example, "giant buttered toast".

-- Artist's Note --
"I just hate that cliché in anime where the character can't keep up and runs away with toast in his mouth. I hate it so much.😅"

During the run, it is possible to get a bonus in the form of a bicycle or even a skateboard or Rollerblades.

The goal is always to reach the school area (or other areas), where you will then see a table with your score, the remaining time and the number of accidents.

If you manage to complete a certain base score, you continue on to the next run.

Levels also vary by objective such as:

- Run to the station and catch the train,
- Make it to the department store before they close.
- To run to a sports match
- Maybe make it to the date on time

Some tracks and events will be different, depending on the choice of characters (students).

The game should have clean low-poly graphics at the level of Dreamcast to Sega Model 3. Visually colorful and very dynamic in all directions.

Theme:

Tick Tock...

How does it fit the theme?
Hopefully, yes..😅

Heck yes! This is absolutely my jam, I’m in love with the premise too! (Pepsiman is a gem!) Perfect accompaniment for some split-second action! “In the City” is a favorite, love the selection of synths and that drop at 1:30 is incredible!

Hello, fresh and funky beats! This is amazing work - you've captured the PS1 style perfectly! Made me feel nostalgic. :) Your layering of sounds kept me constantly riveted and the tick-tocking in the background was integrated very well. Truly enjoyed this entry!

In the Village: I like how the beat keeps the ticking clock ever present throughout. You have a very consistent style that is super impressive to me. I admire that you are able to consistently produce high quality music that fits in your style almost every time.

In the City: The background risers and white noise gives this track somewhat of a floaty feeling, yet it still feels more energized than the first track probably because of the higher energy in the percussion. There is a noise at 3:10 that sounds very nostalgic to me. I’m curious what you used there? It almost sounds like the noise Lickitung makes in the sushi mini-game of the first Pokemon Stadium.

Perfect for Ps1 and Dreamcast era! The combination of sounds is great and there is a good attention to details. Amazing arpeggiatos and funky groovy beats and bass 👌

I just know Renoiser by it's name, but congrats from getting this out of it on first try!

Thanks😊👍

We're the only two entries whose album art is a console parody, and we both chose the same console to parody, which I find truly wild. We should probably either be friends, or bitter rivals, or something. Fate has drawn us together.

I came here for the cover, but stayed for the music :) it matches the Ps1 90s sound perfectly, so great job

This is so cool. Your music always captures that PS1 feel, and also reminds me of the Megaman Battle Network games with those lush extended chords and the breaks. Had me bobbing my head the whole way along. The production quality is so good. My favorite was In The Village, very addictive track! The modal interchange in the chords of Not Too Late really caught my ear, I love these chord choices. I love that moving subbass that comes in around 6:20, helps solidify the Hard Level feel. Loved the kakegoe "yooooo" sfx, unexpected but cool inclusion.

Amazing work as always!

Wow, this really takes me back to the PS1/Dreamcast days. I love it. Totally nails that sound.  Interesting blend of instruments and effects, mixed well. Thanks for making and sharing.

P.S. Did you do the art? It looks great! I love the color scheme.

Feels like an extension of Persona's style using Jungle and DnB conventions and the result is infectiously catchy tracks!

Really well-made tracks, reminds me of Ridge Racer. I'm not familiar with the games of that era but I do love some breaks and dnb. Really like how you leaned into "clocky" percussions for the hard section. I feel like that'll push the player to hurry up.

WOW thanks....  Excellent observation btw.😊👍
