Description
Title: The Descent of a Man-Made God

Genres: Metal, synthwave, ambient, breakcore

Submission for Ost Composing Jam #6

Track 1: The End is Nigh

This track is a dynamic battle theme used to establish the end of the world is coming. The sound I was inspired by was artists like carpenter brut, northlane, mick gordon and hakita. Using alot of glitchy breakbeats, heavy guitars and soaring synths. I included samples of a clock ticking signifying the countdown.

Track 2: The Descent of a Man-Made God

This track is essentially the buildup to the 3rd track Godslayer. I wanted this track to be super ambient and haunting similar to the silent hill soundtracks. I used a sample of a robot which kinda sounds like its laughing which fit my theme perfectly.

Track 3: Godslayer

Track 3 is the boss theme against the Man-Made God. I repeated some of the motifs in the other two tracks like the clock ticking and robot laughing. But I mainly just wanted this song to be as chaotic and heavy as possible to make for a fun cathartic boss fight ost.

Message from the artist:
HIIII THANK YOU FOR LISTENING TO MY MUSIC I <3 YOU!!!!!

Theme:

Tick Tock...

How does it fit the theme?
The theme for this ost composing jam this time around was tick tock, and I immediately thought of a countdown idea for my imaginary soundtrack. The idea I came up with was Man-made God. I made 3 songs around the idea that humans have created an ai/robot thing that gains a consciousness and views itself as a higher being than its creators and wants to destroy the world and stuff. Its a pretty loose vague idea but this was the main inspiration for these tracks

I love how the guitar riff is syncopated on that first track! Best part is the end with that alarm sounding synth around 2:50, dope!

Nice work on the ambient transition! Then, the first synth notes of Godslayer really feels like "geeet reeeadyyy..!"

And yes it's heavy as fuck haha! Great job, it must really be cathartic to finally destroy a final boss on that song! 🔥

Very high quality sound mixing here. Both battle tracks are pure hype, and "The Descent" serves for a nice "calm before the storm" to build up to the pure headbanging energy of "Godslayer." That track absolutely slaps. Great work!

Maaaaaan, I couldn't stop headbanging to this! Godslayer was especially attention-grabbing - it's such a killer theme for a boss battle. I think my heart would be racing just from the music, even before the combat started! Your use of the "tick tock" sound was really well done too - it fit in so perfectly amidst the chaos. Super cool work!

Descent of a man-made god is such a dope name, I feel like the world is doomed just by reading it.

I like how the first one changes styles yet stays consistent and coherent, I don't like how the second one creeps the hell out of me and I am in love with how bangin' and slappin' the third one is.

The genre said "metal" but it opened with a kind of chiptune-y thing so I wasn't sure whether I was going to get, like, metal metal or some kind of chiptune metal - I was pleasantly surprised when I got a real mixture of genres as described - metal, synthwave, lots of interesting digital stuff sprinkled throughout.  For me, the main theme (which really shines through in the last minute) is the best thing about the entry generally. I love that you've managed to deliver a really empathetic melody over the top of the hard orchestration, that's a winner for me. Thanks for including it in the jam.

I really enjoyed listening to the album. It's a while since I listened to such good metal. However, I didn't expect the sudden shift in the first peace, maybe introducing the guitar in the background earlier could smooth the transition. The second track is cool, but maybe you could consider to integrate it in the third piece and shorten it. Leading right into the action of the third piece would make the silence at the end of two even more impactful. It does probably not fit your story as well, but switching the first to be the last would resolve the introduction point mentioned before and could lead to an even better flow. Regardless of the suggestions, your album is on my favorite list.

I didn't get the point of the second track, but the first and the third really blown up my mind! I love the style of Carpenter Brut! Just a few less rating cause the second track is out of place, despite that it is really kick ass soundtrack!

GODSLAYER is an excellent boss battle theme! The balance of all the layers is on a professional level.

People usually make some conceptual retrospective tracks but you hit me with 2 whole-ass character studies of a badass boss monster with 10 health bars. (probably) Second track was also trippy. Awesome work.

Oof I think I just got slapped on the face by a truck. That mix of metal and synthwave is godsent, I'll definitely check some of your inspiration. And your album is so well made, everything so well written and fluid, it packs a punch, it's chaotic, but you can still make sense out of this chaos and it's beautiful. Amazing entry!
