Description
I used daw ableton, some field recordings and various vst effects and synths. This soundtrack is made for an imaginary dark rpg game with simple graphics. It's about the adventure of the hero in a dark, acidic and of course magical forest.
Track applecore - stroll down dark alleys is used as a calm main theme in the game, for example on the splash screen or in neutral (without enemies) places in the game.
Track applecore - a menacing swamp in a dark forest is used in special zones, for example, dark acid and magic forest, in magic swamps. In these places, the hero can improve his skills, heal, sleep and regenerate his strength, as well as buy the necessary things from the acid merchant.
The track applecore - acid forest is played when you encounter simple enemies or various exciting and, of course, magical tasks.
And the track applecore - acid harsh is played on exactly strong enemies and bosses. To make the atmosphere of their acidity and magic.

So... Finally, I'm trying to leave a comment on an amazing soundtrack that I've wanted to listen to for a very long time... And which I listened to twice last night, heh)

IT WAS F**KING AWESOME. Incredible work with electronic music, effects, synthesizers! All this adds up to an atmosphere of some madness and horror... cool! I love this genre of music... Heh)

Even in some moments it reminded me of a more "synthesizer" version of Frank Klepaki's soundtracks, heh)

Thanks!...I'm sorry, please. I really wanted to leave a comment

Thank you so much for such a comment, really glad you enjoyed it

Was not sure what to expect with this! Interesting submission - a lot of rich and deep textures in this. I like the use of the occasional top-end work where melodies or SFX bleed through above the mix and then gradually melt back into it - particularly around the 6 minute mark.

Takes a very different direction around 9 minutes in, almost becoming a more typical arrangement. I dig the acid-esque vibes here and a defined bass-line. The percussion that gets layered here is pretty cool too - nice and buried but still prevalent in the mix. At 14 minutes or so it changes again, still falling more in line with a more standard arrangement and, truth be told, I think this is my favorite part. A lot of really cool textures here and the resonant synth bouncing around the stereo space is great for building atmosphere. Percussion also becomes a bit more defined here which is neat.

Ending the submission in the same kind of ambient-bed as the beginning was clever, and a nice way to book-end the track as a whole. Great work with this - one of the more experimental submissions I've come across but it has a lot of cool ideas and unique sections to it. Best of luck!

Not gonna lie, not the style that i would usually listen to but I enjoyed the production, its well produced, mix is great, everything is coherent. Well done.

Developer

Thank you for the kind words, I tried to do beautifully and not to adjust to the game style and do as I like it

I was playing some Returnal playing this, it fit great!! thanks for the submission and amazing work for a week of work!

Developer

Thanks, I've been thinking about recording something with an acid sound for months, and I came across this jam. And so the inspiration came to me quickly.

Nice one! very experimental and like the atmosphere! Like the fact that around minute 10 in Youtube (not sure which track is) when the chaos starts, that high sound texture seems like 10000 crazy birds.

Nice one!

Developer(+1)

glad you like it, it's my field recordings in the forest near the village, there were different birds and roosters)) all this I gave deleys and other effects for a crazy atmosphere.

This is a great ambient soundtrack, I like the sound design on this a lot and it fits a dark rpg well. I am reminded of Yume Nikki, despite the minimalist looping nature of that game. I am also reminded of IM SCARED from some of the effects. So with that being said, I think you are right on the target for what you were going for thematically. Great work!

Also, the poor child who stumbles upon the art on youtube kids. Or perhaps it will make them happy, that is one big smile after all.

Developer

thanks for the kind review, but about the wild picture for youtube kids, I've seen what horrifying toys they sell in children's shops nowadays, so my picture is quite cute)))

First off, that album cover is nightmare-inducing. Secondly, this was such a great listen. I've never heard anything like this before. The only game I can think of is Earthbound because that too has very quirky music but this is on a whole other level. You did this lane of music so well man good stuff. Keep it up!

Developer

thanks, I'm new to game soundtracks and like to experiment, so this was unusual

That was really experimental industrial-electronic-noize journey! Pretty good soundscapes, great work!

Developer(+1)

thank you for these styles that I started out with and that I have slipped into every track I play.

I totally agree with Marchen! These would fit exploration perfectly :D In fact, the more I listened, the more my brain kept thinking about my time exploring planets with toxic biomes and acid rain in No Man's Sky, and how the atmosphere of the game in those areas could have been improved if it had your tracks playing while exploring as opposed to the relative silence of the game!

The magical elements are a really nice touch too & suit the type of game you described :3

Developer(+1)

Thank you for liking it, I didn't think about a No Man's Sky type setting, I was thinking more of a magical universe, but your comparison is also very interesting, I'll have to try to play it))).

This was a really ambient set of tracks! These tracks would be good for a game with a lot exploration. Thanks for sharing!

Developer

Thank you, that was the idea, lots of exploring locations and few monsters.

This is fantastic, and a treat at 22 minutes! I love the ambience, but having those acid sounds and beats just takes everything to the next level and makes it hit way harder. Very well done!

Developer(+1)

thanks for the feedback, i make often long tracks and i didn't want to restrain myself to get into the canon of game soundtracks and reduce the length, and i tried to convey with my acid tracks the crazy atmosphere in the imaginary game.

Submitted(+1)

I'm really into ambient, so I dont mind the long length! And it is pretty amazing what you have made in a week :O It really fits the vibes you were going for, and when the beat starts, it keeps me intrigued! Very very good work!

Developer

thank you for the feedback, yes I make when I have mood and inspiration a track in about 3 days, well and preparations in the form of field recordings and acid presets I prepared in advance.

Really cool color palette!

Those acid sound are just the best, particulary in menacing swamp.

Awesome job!

Developer(+1)

Thank you. I tried to capture the atmosphere of dark and glitchy fantasy. I hope I succeeded.

Submitted(+1)

and you made it ☺

I think the tracks might have been a bit long but they gave heavy Metroid vibes which is great. I liked the songs with more going on so the second and third ones.

Developer(+1)

thanks for liking the more edgy tracks, but I like ambient works too, you have to relax too.

Submitted(+1)

Definitely makes me feel like I am trudging through an acidic swamp!!

Developer

Thank you. I was trying to capture the atmosphere.
