Description
Mindbleed is a game about a man called Walter who's thoughts manifest themselves in the physical world through intense episodes. One day a particularly intense episode puts Walter's town at great risk and he is forced to confront his inner darkness.

TRACKLIST

Menu - The menu theme

Episode - Start of the game. Walter's inner-thoughts break through like never before, casting the town into disarray as monsters flood out.

Title Card - Dramatic opening credits sequence after the episode.

Journey - Walter walks in determination towards the source of the insanity.

Confrontation - At the source, Walter confronts the darkness inside of himself, and in doing so, the town returns to normal.

Credits - Walter returns home. The dark clouds above the town may have gone away, but they remained in his head.

I composed the soundtrack using the DAW: Reaper, and plugins: SurgeXT & Spitfire LABS

The stunning sense of darkness and thrill must surely lead to exciting adventures in this world.

Another Reaper user yeah!

These atmospheres were VERY WELL crafted .I loved the dark quality you've achieved as well as the different textures of your work. Really nice mixture!!

AWESOME SOUNDTRACK!!!!

Developer

thanks!

Good... First of all: Cover art fire!

Menu - Heh... I love this VCH effect and the synthesizers gradually appearing in different ears (I love when composers play with my ears, heh)

Episode is alarming. It's like he's saying with his whole atmosphere: be afraid of me, and of everything that will happen to you next...

Title Card is the same as Episode, only even more alarming...

Journey is scary and, to be honest, the synthesizer in your left ear is starting to get boring (You're using a cool chip! But if you use it too often, then the ears begin to get very tired of the load). A "broken" piano part... I like it!

Confrontation - Heh, I feel the confrontation of something small with something powerful

Credits - mysterious, scary. The chorus is muted, the adventure ends...

In general, your entire soundtrack has a cool horror atmosphere! I like your creativity and approach to creating the soundtrack. Thanks

Developer

thanks so much!

Good use of stereo-space with this, every track has varying elements panned to some degree and I feel like this should be done by a lot more folk. I like the use of minimal outright melodies in Menu, Episode and Titlecard - it gives an eerie and disconcerting vibe.

The use of pads and ambiences in Journey is really cool, and I like how you've opted to keep the voicings separate and use quite a variety of them. It's haunting in a lot of ways, but most of all it gives this incredible sense of foreboding tension, like having someone or something breathing down your neck. Not running in fear from something, but cowering in terror from what is hunting you.

This was cool to listen to, and super thematic. Really leaned into the dark elements and just soaked it up. Album artwork is fantastic also, by the way. Great work!

thanks a ton!

Fantastic atmosphere! I’ve gotta say, Confrontation was my favorite track but they’re all really well done! :D

Developer

thanks!

Great cover art and a really cool effect on the youtube video!

Absolutely MENACING. It's ambient enough that it plays into the creepy feeling but I don't think it would be distracting from the gameplay, which is great for a video game soundtrack

Developer

thank you!

What a dark vibe with powerful synth!

Anxious i was after listening to it so its a success x)

I find the bass is taking too much place in your mix and it get muddy really fast.

Good job ^^

Developer

thanks! Yeah my mixing skills in general need some work. I've been learning a lot this year. How would you suggest I remedy the bass issue? Just lowering it in the mix or maybe editing some other aspects(my audio engineer speak is not the best lol)

Submitted(+1)

So usually to fix that kind of issue, get a great volume balance between all your elements and pan them well first.

Then eq every instruments while listening to your track, very important for the mix stability!

Mixing is a skills you train with Time and a bit subjective according to your ears.

Also try to get a good headphone like dt 770 or HD 600 it help a lot hearing all the details.

"I hope you like my silly little jingle extravaganza." I didn't like it... I loved it :P Incredible atmosphere & cover with a concept that all blends brilliantly!

Confrontation is probably my favourite with how suspenseful and creepy it is :D but the whole thing is absolutely soaked in atmosphere to the point that I can see the story playing out in my mind as I listen :3

thanks so much for the kind words :)

The vibes are spot on! Your choice of soundbank was excellent. This is definitely one of my favorites so far.

Developer

glad you found it cool

Great spooky vibes, and really smart use of melodic patterns, the tracks really build and evolve.

Developer

thanks!

I liked your use of the glitchy noise as a sort of leitmotif to connect all the tracks. Really creepy and cool overall!

Developer

thanks a bunch!

Very unique take on the theme, and an awesome soundtrack to match! The mix of the ominous synths, the suspenseful piano, and the dissonant vocals sounds amazing. What plugin did you use for the vocals?

Developer(+1)

Hey! So glad you liked it :)

For the vocal, I used Gaelic Voices from LABS: https://labs.spitfireaudio.com/packs/gaelic-voices
They have loads of free sounds and they're all pretty solid.
