Description
This represents the title screen and level music of a puzzle platformer, I see the player having to jump and grab floating bubbles to traverse and occasionally reaching a place where they can float and the character can have a moment of self-reflection before the next set of obstacles.

Message from the artist
I'm proud of finishing this piece, it is my first ever original piece of video game music made from scratch and I learned to use LMMS to do it. I tried to get an underwater feeling by using arpeggios. The drum beat is inspired by The Dismemberment Plan.

Theme

Picture theme

How does it fit the theme?
The picture and prompt made me think of an underwater version of Celeste, mixing platforming with moments of introspection.

Always love seeing some dedicated chiptune pieces. Really dig your choice of waveforms and patches throughout - good use of fully utilizing accompaniment as opposed to just running a lead and bass then calling it a day.

Percussion was great - unobtrusive and gets the job done. Love the core progression and the layering done toward the mid-section of the track. The slowed pace that kicks in right after really reminded me of something I might hear in Golden Axe back in the day.

All in all, super solid! Very faithful to the genre and done with much love and care. Made for a fun listen and a nice hit of nostalgia. :)

8-bit is my jam and you nailed it! I do think this is more Megaman or DuckTales than Celeste, but the vibes were great and the piece was very well written. Great job!

Saying there was a DuckTales vibe is very high praise to me, thank you!

I think I stumbled through your entry on YouTube prior to the deadline of this jam. Quite the manifolded piece you got there. I think it has everything a cool retro game OST needs. Cathy rhythm, spars but interesting harmony with a floaty melody and of course that soring raspy but wonderful sound. Really got your vision of the game through, though it might sounded a bit more like Mega Man underwater to me :D. Great job!

Thank you!

Genesis type beAt sounds amazing, and I Love the cover art! 🌵

This could be in a retro game I wouldn't even bat an eye. Amazing job here! Took me back to my Genesis years!

Sounds very cantabile for that type of chiptune sounds, which is so cool!!

Also I really enjoyed the cool mixture of sounds of different kind.

Very well done!!

Thank you! I did try to adjust the synths to get the smoother sounds and avoid some of the 8-bit crunchiness, so I'm glad that came through!

It was an interesting, diverse and stylish composition!
I like that I used chiptune+ standard drum machines... It sounds interesting!

Captures the underwater atmosphere really well I think! I like the slightly detuned quality of some of the sounds, you get that sometimes in some of the old Game Boy Pokémon games like the Alph Ruins music in Gold/Silver/Crystal.and it really works for unfamiliar, quite unnerving levels and zones in games. So that's very clever I think. Great work!

The OST gives me some Sega console vibes, and I like it! Great work! ❤

Underwater version of Celeste? Sign me up! You nailed the platformer vibes with your music while still doing well to keep thing submerged. Good job!

great job for a first composition. I think the drums were a little too loud at points but otherwise it was nice!

Loving some of the composition ideas in here. Great job!

Thank you! I haven't written a song in awhile so it was nice to use the music brain again

I can hear the default synth LMMS preset lol, nice song though some instruments are quieter than others.

Developer

Yeah, kept it simple while I learned the software and I'm looking forward to exploring further!

You had some interesting melody lines and ideas! This soundtrack had am old-school platformer feel to it which is always welcome to me. Nice one!

Very old school rpg sound. ❤️❤️❤️ I remember my friends gameboy advance. I didn't had one. Haha!

Anyways, good job. 😊

This really gives me the vibe of an old school 8bit platformer adventure. The first melodic idea definitely kept me guessing but the second and third parts were really nice to listen to.  I recommend you continue to experiment and explore your sound in chiptune bc this is definitely a good start! 🙂
