Description
This soundtrack is for a sentimental, allegorical story about growing up and moving on. Think something like Celeste or Gris in terms of theming, as I've always been drawn to those abstract representations of that which is too heavy to face as reality. For me. I composed it in Garageband using entirely the Kontakt Factory Library 2 VST. The first track I envisioned as the main theme, likely played in the menu as an introduction to the main themes. The second song represents a segment in the middle of the game, where the protagonist (someone much like the little girl from the picture, I figure) is delving deeper into her own mind and facing her own emotions. The last song is the main theme stripped bare, like a music box. It's a song for cutscenes, the raw real memories without the mysticism of her imagined world.

How does it fit the theme?
The theming of my imagined game was entirely pulled from both the picture and text. The picture is very emotional to me, innocent and whimsical and sad all at once. Put in the context of the text theme, though, it's especially potent. I drew upon the idea of memory, because for me, remembering the past is a lot like diving. When I've gone diving in the past, I recall the beauty and mystery of the undersea world, but I also remember the sensation of pressure as I got deeper, as well as the human need to return to the surface. In short, I wanted to capture all of these, at least in part, in my songs.

cool OST! It definitely captures the mood you were going for. I like the music box version of the song to respresent a somber reflection.

Hey, it was a vibe adventure!

Submerged in Memory is my favorite) It has the soul of something old and very precious to me, but it's like I'm looking at that “old” with an adult eye....

Gorgeous writing choices, this was so relaxing and felt oddly nostalgic. Your harmonies (ESPECIALLY IN INTO THE DEPTHS) were absolutely stunning, you should be proud!

Great haunting and emotional music. My favorite one was "Submerged", very emotional and nostalgic, but the three songs are really great. A very good submission, excellent work!

The first track caught my attention in a strong way. It is a very beautiful OST and quite enjoyable. I loved your use of synthetic and organic instruments. Great job!

Lovely soundtrack--I think my favorite was the music box of submerged (something about music boxes makes everything 10x more emotional...). I think the submission fits your game idea very well. Good stuff!

Good work! I think the mixing of the second track drowns the lead melody out a smidge, but the third track was very beautiful and nostalgic; I liked it a lot!

Very relaxing, I liked the harmony movements and thematic approach! As Gris inspire me too, I found a lot of common references :D Great work!

I loved the combination of chiptune and realistic instruments it made a very nice pairing!

I think you've nailed a kind of "wandering sadness" with these, in line with your description of the picture. I'm on the same wavelength personally - I thought there was definitely some sombre tone to it. Each piece is put together and arranged well. For me, I think Submerged in Memory is the most notable of the three - interesting choice of instrumentation, a plodding progression and it treads a very fine line of loneliness. Great work!

Thanks! I'm really happy I'm not the only one who found the image so compelling in its sombre implications, with the half-faded figure by the girl's side and the abstract beauty of the world. It's a relief that I succeeded in treading the fine line of loneliness, as you said, since this is my first time creating songs for a broader theme instead of just for myself.

You did a great job! Much the same for myself, these things can be a little nerve-wracking but what matters is you push through and have something to submit in the end. Glad I wasn't the only one who latched onto the sombre aspect of the picture - at a glance it is easy to chalk it up to being a sort of child-like joy with all the bubbles, chalk animals and the laughter but I definitely think there's another layer beneath that. :)

This sounds quite emotional and lonely, the first track with the flute for example. The mixing is good, the instruments and synths blend in together very well. The composition and the chord progressions are also veeery solid, especially the last track, the melody and the arpeggio is amazing.

Ovreall, it's short, but very good.

Thank you for this feedback! This is my first composing jam, so I was quite nervous about submitting for it. I'm especially glad the emotions I went for resonated in some capacity. Hopefully next time I'll be able to write more songs.
