Description
The game is a 2D platformer with different areas to explore and a safe place where the player can rest and upgrade their tools.

The main character is an unnamed being, which finds itself in an unknown apocalyptic world where the only living people are monsters trying to kill him.
The only way out is through a portal that can be found in a dangerous area, which will only remain open for a limited amount of time.

Waking Up - The protagonist suddenly wakes up in a destroyed world. He searches for living people, however the living things are the monsters that are trying to kill him. You must exit this place before the portal shuts down.

Going Places / Exploring Areas - The theme that plays while exploring areas.

Being Safe - Track that plays in a safe place, essentially a "temporary home".

Saving Your Life - Encountering monsters.

stuck forever - The portal shuts down, and you are stuck in this world forever.

Getting Out - You manage to successfully get through the portal and come back into your real world.

(also I'm a beginner in FL Studio so sorry if the layout and organisation on the screenshots made you vomit)

Some neat synth work here. Very laid back. Waking up sets the apocalyptic world scene you imagine immediately. That "tear in space time" effect at the end is really cool. No idea how you create this. love the arpeggio chord changes in Going Places, and the change in pace half way prevents fatigue. Subtle dissonances in Being Safe feel a bit menacing, as if being safe were something to wish for, or as a reminder that danger lurks outside. Very energetic boss theme, could fit with a high speed race or similar. Bad ending feels outright depressing. would not wish this on my worst enemies! Good ending is somewhat sad too, but in a motivating way, perfect fit for the apocalyptic setting once again. Very cohesive soundtrack that fits the whole story well. This was very enjoyable. Thank you!

Thanks for your detailed review ! The effect you talked about at the end of the first track is a "bitcusher" ("FL Squeeze").

Oh cool!

Very cool and chilling! Love the DnB sections and I feel like I even heard some like HL2 vibes in there at points. Very nice!

Nice submission! Some tracks reminded me of FTL's soundtrack! Really good ambiances :D

I love when the beat kicks in on Going Places / Exploring Areas, nice work :)

Great soundtrack, idm and dnb especially enjoyed in a nice enveloping ambient atmosphere

Really beautiful low and brooding melodies. You nail an overall feeling of dreamy uncertainty very well

Love when the breakbeat drum comes in on the second track! Very ambient OST with cool arpeggios that establishes greatly the overhall mood of your game.

I liked the distortion in going places/exploring areas.

Well crafted - Vital is a monster in the right hands. The first three tracks have a great dark kind of presence to them - foreboding but not overtly ominous. I also like how the percussion is kept to a relative minimum outside of short sections toward the end of Going Places and Being Safe. This works especially well when giving way into Saving Your Life which then has the percussion absolutely take control of the track. I love some good DnB and breakcore so this was right up my alley. I wouldn't be afraid to go a little heavier and more distorted on some of the synths and drums here - it works well as is, so just a consideration for the future. :)

My favorite of the bunch is Stuck Forever - it's ominous, and unapologetic. Paints a picture off the bat and lets you stew in it. Thick atmosphere, washy noise drones and pulsing bass to leave you perfectly lost (or stuck 😄). Great work with these!

Some of the ambient soundscapes are really on point here (especially Stuck Forever!). Overall you’ve also got a nice sense of structure to your soundtrack, with nice use of textures and contrast. I agree with Don Gi that I think you could go even grittier with the DnB influences, but overall there is impressive stuff here :)

The correlation to theme is there, and the atmosphere is brilliant too! Especially love the breakbeat vibes in Saving your life!!

The OST 100% matches your description. Stuck forever is an amazing ambient track that evokes so much with so little. Great work!

Your music gave me those "2000s PC video game" vibes that I really like. Also amazing work on those drums, overall really cool!

Love how each track progressively evolved nearing the end, the whole soundtrack is well-thought out for your game idea! (Esp including the ending themes) The textures and movement you chose were very mesmerizing, I especially loved the change in Going Places/Exploring Areas.  I also really enjoyed your drum chops and the lfo'd bass! I think it would sound even grittier if it was in a lower octave, or was layered with a sub, maybe even saturate the chops a bit more.

Great textures, movement, and sound choices fitting of your game idea.  Good job!

I can see it, I can see the game ! That's a good sign. You had a vision and you made it alive GG ! Love the two endings !

I enjoyed listening to this, I think your ideas were pretty fleshed out and I felt very connected to the world you described. I really like the choices you made when picking synths, I cant place my finger on it but something about Saving Your Life has some synths in it that are really familiar to me, I think ive heard something like that cool low wobbly synth in some dubstep and I think it fits really nicely here for creating a sense of unnerve while driving the beat forward along with those drums. Good job!

Thanks for your review! I made the bass from scratch (with Vital) by using some simple waveforms then modulating the low pass filter the hell out of it, I tried to mimic the bass you'd typically hear in breakcore / drum and bass.

Great job!

Waking Up - the atmosphere of being alone in a strange world (Lose bit's effect? Like-minded person!)

Saving Your Life... ahh... I love this breakcore!

Stuck forever - causes fear

The rest of the tracks are good too) Well done!

Loved the drums in Track #4! Had a very Transistor feel to it, great job!

Hi Alpikespot!

About the sounds and their combinations, I think is very solid.
I'm not really sure if some of the tracks fit the story you told (eg "Waking up" seems too calm to me for the scenery you describe). However, I really like the overall sound of the entire OST. And the drums in "Saving your life" really create the necessary tension for a boss situation. You've done something very interesting!

Very fitting soundtrack for the game you described. I love the use of space you employ in each track.

Favorite Track: Saving Your Life (boss theme)
