Description
What type of genre is this?
An orchestral and ambient composition intended to suck the listener in.
I relied most on the piano to give the listener a feeling of nostalgia and comfort.
I also added these gentle synth sounds, water flutes and a violin, which helped give the song variety. The DAW that I used is FL Studio.
What type of game could this be in?
I made this song with an interactive, story-based game in mind; it would be filled with beautiful watercolor strokes and a pastel painterly style, following the storyline of a terribly ill girl who falls into a coma and finds herself in a dreamscape world filled with various elaborate lifeforms.
What is the story behind your music?
Even though this is one full song, it is split into three sections to tell the story.
The first part of this composition starts with a beautiful and mystifying theme with tones of melancholy. When the child awakens to her underwater dreamworld, feeling anxious and wary of her new surroundings, she decides to explore. The more she drifts through the wide depths of the ocean, the further she ventures, Sea creatures begin to surround her, offering her company and soothing her worries, fueling her curiosity. She is overtaken with child-like wonder as she, for the first time in months, confidently explores this new universe bubbling with life and color, feeling joy and excitement wash over her. Suddenly, a bubble-like entity resembling a middle-aged woman appears, gesturing wordlessly to the surface. Before the child figures out what this mysterious yet faintly familiar lady means, She feels herself being propelled towards the surface, a dolphin having settled between her legs and lifting her upwards. She feels everything around her blur the closer they get to the ocean surface and then before she knows it, she startles awake to familiar voices (her father and her doctor), finding herself in a hospital bed. She wonders to herself if that woman saved her life.
The runtime for my project is 17 hours and 41 minutes.
What were your inspirations?
My main inspirations for this project were the indie music maker Tottomori with my orchestral section, Studio Ghibli for its unique musical storytelling and full sounding songs, and lastly, Nintendo’s Super Mario Odyssey underwater level themes inspired some of my arpeggios and relaxing melodies.
Message from the artist
This composition Jam really pushed me to be creative and experimental and to continue on even if you are unsure of your progress and your creation.
Theme
How does it fit the theme?
Both the picture prompt and text theme inspired me to write this story. The dreamscape is her own little world and the lady with the bun in the picture is her deceased mom, whom she had never had a chance to know. The deeper the child went into the ocean, the sicker she’d get. Her mom woke her up from her coma by having a dolphin escort her to the surface. The man you hear talking to the doctor is her father, the sole parent who raised her.

OH, WHAT A BEAUTIFUL VIDEO
It sounds very beautiful, vibe and with a sense of the underwater world) Especially good work with effects!
Thanks)
Absolutely beautiful, and such wonderful storytelling too! I loved the sound effects and the seascape - very well done!
Don't be alarmed but I think your FL studio is underwater!!!
I didn't read the description before I listened to this and the ending hit really hard, it told a story that fits so well with the theme. I loved the sea life/ambient sounds that you chose throughout the song as well.
Very dreamy and relaxing. I love the variety of sounds that ebb and flow as they please. Sometimes the harmonics from having all the ambient sounds come in take over the piece, I would look into some EQing for that. Great work!
This was a really cool track! Awesome story telling, that was made even more rich with your use of sound effects, and the voice over at the end almost had me in tiers (but that might also be because im tired, still a very good song!)
Really nice sparse-sounding arrangement that doesn't get boring. All the subtle layers really work well together, and the foley choices really compliment the track as a whole!
This is lovely, really good use of ambient sounds.
Really neat ambiant track :)
Really liked the quality and ambient feel of the track, maybe a bit short (1/2 tracks more could have been cool) but apart from that very cool :D
