My submission's only 5 tracks so it's easily digestible!
I used FL Studio for all of the music that I made, but had also used FamiTracker for some of the songs. (I wrote some of the melodies/basslines in FamiTracker and exported them to be used as audio in FL Studio.) For the rest of the music, I used a mixture of soundfonts and realistic-sounding instruments for variety.

The image theme looked very abstract and dream-like to me, so I imagined the game would be similar to games like Yume Nikki and OneShot. I actually took inspiration from a film called Cat Soup, which also has a similar dream-like tone that I think the theme conveyed. Some of the tracks like Big Whale Circus are directly inspired by scenes from that film.

Theme

Inside my world
Picture theme

How does it fit the theme?
So, I had made a bit of a train-of-thought type of connection, but initially, I had interpreted the theme in a bit of a morbid way. In the image, there's one character in an obviously dream-like environment, underwater with imaginary fish and a their mother(?) beside them. Along with the text, "inside my world," I kind of figured that it would only make sense that we're referring to the girl's imaginary world, which also includes the parental figure.

Going back to my main inspiration for my submission, I mainly used the events of Cat Soup as a framework for the songs I made. It's a very abstract, dream-like film! On first watch, I thought it was very whimsical and cheery, but on reflection, the movie carries a lot of morbid undertones and has a bittersweet ending.

My point is, I feel like this jam's theme also conveys that implied sad feeling, which is why I think my submission fits it! I hope my music does a good job at sounding cheery on a surface level, but ever so slightly sorrowful.

AAAAAH I LOVE THAT CAT ON THE COVER ART!

Heh... you definitely made a soundtrack that has the incredible energy of some national flavor of some unknown culture (especially the big whale circus)... Sounds awesome!

Overall the soundtrack sounds alive! Interesting choice of tunes. Thanks!

P.S. Hey, I want to play this game!

The composition here is amazing, I'm surprised that this doesn't get enough ratings as it deserves. Your ideas in composition is amazing.

The windup at the first track is neat and really sets the tone for the entire soundtrack, a great first impression. then big whale circus came along and became one of my favorite songs in the JAM; the circus atmosphere, the synth melodies that take up the 2nd half of the song, it's amazing.

"seamstress" is cool with its strings, it's such a vibe. the way you did with the piano and how distorted it sounds is very nice and the bass for "reattachment" is a treat to listen to. Amazing track

You've got a very unique sound.  I like the darkness and mystery that present.

In Big Whale Circus, the question and answer close to the end is lovely! And the ending is amazing!!! Caught me off guard  ðŸ˜†
