Description
A girl cleaning out her childhood home rediscovers her old computer and suddenly gets pulled straight through the monitor! The computer got so lonely over the years that when it saw its old friend again, it couldn't let her leave. It willed her into its digital reality and trapped her there so they could have fun together forever. Now to survive and escape, the girl must confront her past come to life!

Girl Among Circuits - Inspired by 90s classics like Half Life and System Shock, this first track represents the strange and hostile environment the girl finds herself in shortly after being transported into the computer.

Buyer's Remorse - This track represents a level dedicated to impulsive consumerism, something the girl used as a coping mechanism for past trauma. Unfortunately, in this instance, she fails the level, leading to the music falling apart in a garbled, glitchy mess. Inspired by 80s/90s corporate lounge music.

Memories - Inspired by electronic tracks by Brian Eno and classic rock ballads of the latter 20th century, this track represents the girl at her lowest point. Unable to run from her past anymore, she must confront it, process it, and finally grow the courage to live above it.

Shut Up & Shutdown - Finally, after overcoming her trauma, she's ready to face her computer captor head on. Nothing can stop her from breaking free! Inspired by modern electronic works by artists including ClascyJitto and Mr. Sauceman.

Theme

Inside my world

How does it fit the theme?
In the lens of Hello My World, the theme can represent two things. One, the protagonist's world as it once was, with her memories, hobbies, hopes, and fears all manifesting. Two, the computer's world as it always has been, its home and only reference for its limited understanding of the protagonist.

4s across the board except 5 on quality. This is v well done.

Buyer's Remorse was my favorite.

I initially thought the first track was two tracks, that might be on me though.

Girl Among Circuits: What an ominous story! This sounds like almost a horror game concept. The opening to your soundtrack introduces that dark emotion and fear immediately. When the beat comes in, I hear many interesting melodies from synths that sound like Blade Runner synths. This really helps set the cyberpunk type of vibe for me.

Buyer’s Remorse: So cool that you used the old computer dial-up sound to start this off. What an oddly specific genre to base this off of - I can’t say I’ve ever seriously thought of writing “80s/90s corporate lounge music”. The upbeat nature of this song changes the vibe, but there is still an undertone of negative emotions like greed driving this track.

Memories: I appreciate the dynamic range that this song uses. It really helps convey some tough and complex emotions like despair through determination. The build up at the end is really creative!

Shut Up & Shutdown: This track is very upbeat and has a sense of bravery to it that works really well for a determined final battle theme. The melody and harmonies are well-written and really fun to listen to. For that reason, this is my favorite track! Nice ending with the shutdown computer theme!

Overall: This was a creative (and spooky) take on the theme. All-in-all, I really enjoyed this OST and the progression through thee songs feels unique but also complete. Well done and thank you for sharing!

Really nice the concept.

I think the sound design has elevated your music incredibly. Super cohesive, solid and on point, I absolutely love it!!

Memories, my favorite one: 6:00 and the way it progress towards 6:39!

Great work!!!!

I really liked the weird organ instrument you used in Shut Up & Shutdown. What was it?

Developer

Thanks! Most of the sounds I used were created using a TyrellN6, though I'm unsure which instrument you're referring to. Do you have a timestamp?

Okay.. You've been playing with various SFX in a very interesting way! It turned out to be a rather experimental sound, which feels the atmosphere of old 80's -90's music. Cool!

Shut Up and Shutdown are my favorites)

Loved the aesthetic choice and the OST goes super well with it. I love Synthwave so damn much that's an automatic high rating lol. Great job!

yo! this is a super interesting ost. it really sounds like i’ve been transported inside of some 90s pc. very cool sfx too. good stuff!!

Really interesting! I like the atmosphera that you create, also the action in "Shut up and shutdown" really enjoyable synthwaving trip!

A Girl Among Circuits: Very nice introduction with unique 8-bit type sounds and very unique drums. The track flows smoothly. Transition around 1:00 isn't the greatest I've heard, but that's just me nitpicking because there isn't a lot wrong with this track.

Buyer's Remorse: Very smooth song with more unique sounds and an upbeat tone. Hi hat is a TINY tiny bit too loud and can sometimes drown other parts out, but the average listener will never realise this tiny detail. Apart from that, very nice track.

Memories: Quiet at the start but becomes louder :o (i love those type of songs). Really makes you feel like this is the bottom, and now you have to go up. Guitar and drums combo goes hard. Really can't complain about this track, really good work

Shut Up & Shutdown: Sounds like it was ripped right out of a retro indie game. I've ran out of things to say at this point as my brain isn't braining, but the quiet part sounds very nice and the transitions between quiet and loud parts is smooth. I'll say it before someone else does - This song (especially the ending) is giving deltarune chapter 2 vibes. Which ig makes sense because the theming is similar.

Overall really good OST, very VERY unique and you clearly put a lot of thought into the theme, and a lot more thought than me :)

Day 2 of Rating Submissions with Few Ratings in the Hopes of Getting Some in Return

While the soundtrack doesn´t quite remind me of the games you mention in the description - I really associate 90s games with those time stretched, resampled ambient ambient pads that were so prevalent in productions during the time - I really enjoy what you did here. The lush, quasi-analog synths of the 80s that you chose are slowly becoming a timeless sound that I enjoy whenever it pops up, and I also do enjoy the things it *does* remind me of. The range from creepy italian horror synth score to the celebrity driven aerobics tape music is the exact right kind of cheese. Good job and a fun little OST.

Buyer's Remorse was my favourite track. The overall ost was really well put together with it's theme and I thoroughly enjoyed it!

Your interpretation of the theme is very cool, and you know how to keep the listener engaged! Your tracks are very  dynamic, and they don't overstay their welcome. The end of Buyer's Remorse is cool. The final track is a banger! Impeccable storytelling and sound design throughout - really fantastic work!

This was a fun listen, all three sound different which is a plus in regards to keeping some variety going. A Girl Among Circuits is ominous, and Ballade is a little more curious and progressive - particularly when the 3/4 mark comes along and the guitar-sounds come in. Still ominous, but I think not quite as much as the first track.

For me, Shut Up and Shutdown is the breadwinner of the bunch. Playful, upbeat and explosive with how it continually swells up with accompaniment and then strips itself back again. Some really good melodies in this one in particular. Great work, and best of luck!
