Description
Genres: Synthwave, Bass Music, Chiptune

DAW: Audiotool

I made DAYSHIFT & NIGHTSHIFT two sides of the same coin. They're fundamentally similar songs, but there's a distinct contrast between the two to show how insane things will get during the night shift. Specifically, this final night shift. UNPAID OVERTIME would play just before NIGHTSHIFT to signal that the character you control has completely lost it.

OST & Game Description: You work at a cybernetic research & development facility. Your job is to aid your coworkers in the upkeep of a cybernetic portal. Word on the street is that the portal's destination is supposed to be the Astral Plane. Sadly, you're the one who is always pulled aside to do the things that nobody else wants, like cleaning the damn toilets.
|
The day shift is a simple, passive factory simulator. The night shift is an extremely overwhelming and downright unbearable mess of unreasonable demands, and angry corporate big names, and what makes it worse is that you are being forced to work unpaid overtime, right after your day shift was supposed to end.. Not tonight. This is where everything changes. Tonight is the night you break the contract that binds you to this job. Screw the consequences, you want your life back, and you'll get it by any means necessary. This night shift will turn into an aggressive beat 'em-up; as you slowly walk towards the exit of the facility without permission, ai enforcement units are deployed to put you back in your place. You will need to use whatever cybernetic tech is around you at the time to break out.. including that damn toilet plunger.

Runtime (Without Loops): 2 Minutes & 51 Seconds

Message from the artist:
Make sure you take care of yourself, especially in this time of declining mental health. You still have a whole LIFE to live, don't let anyone or anything take that away from you.

How does it fit the theme?
Society may have evolved technologically, but socially, it's the same thing. Same workforce ideology, same politics, same social classes. There are amazing things that you can experience in this age, things that you never could have in the past, but nobody is safe from the consequences of deep-rooted corruption.

Some really interesting synth voices and composition. Keep up the great work!

Cool synth work throughout, and some creative rhythms in the phrases. And then Nightshift is such a cool version of the first track. Amazing work!

Ooh, this is fantastic! The music suits the story you're telling really well and it all sounds so fun. I really love all the textures you have in your music, the synth work is awesome. I love NIGHTSHIFT the most I think.
Awesome stuff!

Wow, there's a lot of creative stuff going on here, from the melodies to the effects. Great job!

Great tracks! Very musical, even dancing while being in the cyberpunk theme, nice!

Oooh, love these weird little vocal chops! Great section transitions, and the cheesy gated-reverb snare is fun and very fitting.

(I also abused pitch drop effects, they’re so much fun!)

My one critique would be that the lead synth in DAYSHIFT has a lot of high-end buzz to it, which can get a little annoying. I’d recommend just a bit of EQ to tame the highs on it!

Super high energy tracks, very fun to listen to. Great work!

Cool, glossy vibes on the first song, it's my favorite of them. The vox sample on it is great. Overall good headbanging music. Nice distorted stuff in the middle.

Great tracks! Would fit perfectly in the game

With Dayshift, pretty cool to hear a swing rythm track which, I don’t think, you hear a lot in this genre! Creative use of the record stop effect and just an overall nice wall of synths :D

“Did you just say unpaid overtime?!?!” builds up perfectly!

Man, when Nightshift kicks in, damn, I wanna play that game! Then the slowdown and the rampup again, the track keeps things interesting!

I love the second one, it sounds like a critical kernel error. Very creative!

The first and ESPECIALLY the 3rd tracks are so good! And the imaginary game description is funny, it's like a rant of actual work haha

i just dropped in to say this swept me off my feet. absolutely amazing work. i expect to see this in the top three

DAYSHIFT: Love all the special effects you have in this. The slowdown, the little vocals left and right (they blend in so well, that it took a little while before I even realized they were vocals). And fantastic synths. Love the happy vibe in this.

Did you just say UNPAID OVERTIME?!: XD

NIGHTSHIFT: Love how it opens up speeding up. Gives a nice sense of starting up. Could totally see vibing to a videogame to this. Can't stop bobbing my head :D. And awesome! Here's that cool speedup effect again! Very nice work.

Totally awesome.

My favorite: Probably nightshift because of that speedup, but it's very close with dayshift.

Such a cool idea and perfect execution. I love the unpaid overtime track, it's like you can feel the anger in the character before it moves on to the nightshift track.

Reminds me of 90s techno. Very wholesome! Also neat use of panning for these L/R echo effects. I love the overall vibe. Very energetic. Might listen to this during my next night shift haha!

Hmm excuse me but this is fire? Love the story you told, the aestethic, and the tracks went super well with it. This is bopping, keep it up!
