Summarise your game!
“All’s Fair in Love and War” is based on the popular idiom. The game is based on match-making and the courting behaviour of birds (and people alike!).

The player will try to woo their colleague by funding their endeavours from their job. This will require players to identify bird couples in fast-paced ‘puzzle-sort’ mechanic. After their shift, players can use the money from their shift to bring presents to their colleague and chat.

The gameplay is mainly delivered in two phases on a day-to-day basis. From 9 to 5, the player controls bird Cupid’s arrows through a point and click mechanic, matching the correct couples based on corresponding thought bubbles and trying to avoid homewrecking. This earns CC (cupid coins), which unlocks different daily items that the player can bring to their co-worker. The second phase is a visual novel style where the dialogue choices and responses are affected by the player’s bought item and their choices.

The game’s mechanics are simple, meaning it can be played with just a mouse! Left click selects dialogue and shoots, and right click zooms while in the shifts.

Please explain how your game fits the theme:
The definition of a ‘weapon’ on google being: “A thing designed or used for inflicting bodily harm or physical damage” meant there were a few ways to approach the theme. The well-known idiom “Alls fair in love and war” was the main inspiration. For one, love is a volatile force. The famous portrayal of ‘Cupid’ shows the bow and arrow as a driving force between love, and while there are positive reactions when you match up couples, accidentally breaking up pre-existing couples has a negative effect and inflicts ‘harm’.
The game emulates a top-down shooter, while not violent in nature. There is a secret fourth shift based on dialogue options that is a ‘heartbreaker’ level, with the full intention to nestwreck as many couples (destruction!!)

AWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW

Man the dayjob portion of the game is pretty simple and fun but the micro dating sim on the side is just beautiful, this made my day.

Also the bad ending where you get to nestwreck is both sad and hilarious. Way to flip the script at the very end!!!

I had so much fun playing this <3 You already got me with the birds tho xD but it comes really good together with the writings and everything else.

Your Idea is kinda unique from the others, very nice !

Keep it up :D

Very cute, I support bird love! I was having a very nice run until my first "nestwrecking" and I seemingly lost connection to the game. Could be bad internet, but in case it was a bug figured I'd mention it!

Developer

Thanks for mentioning it! I'll keep my eyes peeled. Fingers crossed !!

I really enjoyed playing this game, the writing was humorous, the art was cute, i loved the Redditor route, was just trying the bad dialogue options and stumbled across it, more content than expected, 9/10

Who thought bird cupid could be so fun? Love the concept and the art!

Those are some cute birds indeed, love the general aesthetics of it and a really nice game-play loop too~ Magnificent entry!

This is so cute, the artwork is absolutely charming, the writing feels like being hugged somehow, y'alls got me kicking my feetsies in joy over here. I was surprised that pointing out that they were the biggest, fattest, bluest berries didn't impress, but hey, that's love (and war, but mostly love) for ya. This was a really nice change of direction from the norm, and I'm so happy with how everything turned out for those sweet lil' lovebirds. Great work!

Thank you so much! :D

SO FUNNY!!! I love how much character and fun you put into this game. The bad ending is the funniest thing I have seen all day.

If I can't have love, no bird can! Great game :)

Cool little game. Pretty fun, good art, cute story. If you were to expand it, you'd just need to add  other conditions for matches like hairstyle or something.

A simple beautiful game. The art and game match great and the bad ending is funny.

Lets go!! Really cute, I had hesitations at first because romance games often feel like shovelware to me, but this was really cute and a fun game! I had some confusion at first on the second day when I didn't realize there would be already-made couples, but I figured it out in time to not make too much of a mess haha... The game worked really well, flowed smoothly, and looked great.

What a great experience! Great art! I think some visual improvements could be made to the matching game to make it a little easier. It seems like you have to select 2 birds, but there's no visual indication of the first bird you've selected.

I got rejected ;_;  but i had fun! Awesome job!
