  • Functional, but that's the kindest word I can think of to describe this... game is also too strong a word. This is a school project, that shows the creator can perform the most basic function required for game development, and I hope they use this opportunity for motivation and practice to continue to make games in the future.
  • I think I read this is your first game, congrats! My feedback would be that it's quite simple, and a little tricky to navigate some spots (fell through the middle of the top part of the map, couldn't seem to climb down ladders) and maybe a little tricky for the first level. But a fantastic first step, good luck to you!

This was my very first Game Jam and Very First completed released Prototype video game and Thor you have motivated me to keep learning and to have the balls to do this.

Hey hey, this was a super fun lil game! Especially for your first-ever publicly released game!

I was a little unsure of what I was supposed to be doing (because I'm illiterate and didn't look at the instructions), but once I started cruising I realized I just needed to escape.

The only critique I have is that when the toxic slime starts rising, it could go a little slower to make it feel like your character is trying to escape the lab before it fills up. It filled the whole screen so fast, that I had an absolute panic before I realized I could survive thanks to the character's forward thinking in wearing a hazmat suit.

Nice work. Keep it up!

Cool stuff. Pretty simple. Nice job finishing your first jam! eerie vibes.

Cool game! I was a little iritated that I can't jump when I press D and W.

Developer

I will check it out, I do know you can hold A or D and press W to jump but it's not a hold to keep jumping more of each press once you land to jump. Jumping is not the main goal it's climbing the ladders and will lead to doing tasks.

Awesome for your first game, has a lot of potential, sounds add a good vibe.

Skys the limit with this one...

Developer

I've already began working on dialogue and story with random tasks to complete. Thank you for the feedback.

that was really awesome! The art was super sick, I think if you wanna continue working on this game you should definitely look into particle effects to sell the idea of nuclear radiation. Also some animations to show the player is getting hurt. Super cool and amazing work for your first completed released prototype, it only gets better from here!

Developer

Thank you for your awesome feedback. I am planning to rework the radiation and how you "see" it.

A short game, caused a bit of panic when I first clicked "start" and had no idea what was happening.

Here are the notes I jotted down while playing:

  • Would add support for the spacebar as jump
  • Add an intro/tutorial to explain things
  • Would not start the radiation until the player moves just to let them get comfortable when the level loads
  • Not sure what the UI controls do at all
  • More levels or longer levels but with items to pick up along the way would be nice
Developer(+1)

Spacebar does in fact work as jump, understandable with the instructions intro/tutorial and I am currently working on that along with more levels that add more depth. I will also being adding an oxygen tank pickup to add more ("time") to your play as the levels with be more in depth and longer. This is a first released any part of working game and I am learning so much. Also adding in locks and needing codes and interact with items. The radiation will also change and not be Green but more of a screen tear grainy effect.

I'm glad to hear that; I hope you continue on your journey and keep at it! I can't remember if this was built in Godot or not, but I stream daily and do Godot dev. If you want to stop by with any questions, feel free: thornityco

Developer

it is built in Godot 4

Very fun little platformer, you might add a sound when the player first touches the green liquid to show that it's hurting them.

Developer

thank you for your feedback, I will eventually link the gas to the o2 meter. but a sound might be nice as well.

Nice game! I also like the music, makes the experience very creepy.

Developer(+1)

I'm glad you enjoyed, more to come. And I'm glad the ambience translated well.

Found it! (I think!)
The goggles, they do nothing!

Developer

it is not the goggles.

Submitted(+1)

The goggles was just a quote. Is the secret button...how do I put it without giving it away...yellow?

Developer(+1)

ahh,  awesome you are correct lol.

Submitted(+1)

Not to bad for a prototype. kinda fun maybe a few change like make the player move a bit faster. And more levels.

Developer

thank you for the feedback once I expand the level and add more levels I will see how the speed might need tweaking.

Submitted(+1)

Really solid for a first prototype! Interesting game mechanic with the nuclear radiation!
Would love to see you expand on this. 2 weeks is a very short time to get a lot done, even shorter when you are learning things as you go! You did great here, everything works well!

Developer(+1)

thank you so much on your awesome feedback and I am glad you enjoyed it. stay tuned as I will be expanding on it.

Great work Zassassin. The art style is really impressive.

Developer

thank you. with using royalty free tilemap and being solo dev I really tried to make my own style rather copy a template of what the artist put on the site. and make it nice to visualize and easy to understand the navigation areas.
