Have you checked that your GDD is publicly accessible ?
Yes

Is your game set to public on itch.io so we can see it?
Yes

Summarise your game!
My game is a roguelike dungeon crawler like binding of isaac or enter the gungeon. You play as a gun that takes control of different avatars to escape the dungeon. WASD to move, mouse to aim, click to shoot, shift to dash.

Please explain how your game fits the theme:
In my game you are a gun that can possess different avatars. So I took the "You are the weapon" theme pretty literally and made it so you play as a gun.

Is there anything you'd like the judges to pay particular attention to?
Not really, I hope you like it and I'm sorry if it's buggy.

Hey nickbdawg,

This is a great game! I really enjoyed playing it. The art was cute and nostalgic, the vfx fit the art/style perfectly, and the sfx were on point as well!

The game felt a little difficult at times, but that is probably just a skill issue on my part. While I love playing these types of games, I'm not generally super good at them.

The tutorial was a very nice touch. I can see you put time, effort, and thought into the programing, the mechanics, and the game loop.

I will say that the theme 'you are the weapon' doesn't really jump out at you. And by that, I mean, It doesn't change anything about the game between this and another game of the similar genre. I'd like to see the theme incorporated in a more meaningful (change the way the game is played) way.

The GDD is simple and succinct. It told me everything I needed to know about the game, and gave the impression that you finished all the aspects of this game that you set out to in the beginning, so massive props to you!

In all, the game is fun, nails the artwork and vfx, and has tons of replay value. Great job!

Ah a good old isaac clone. Well done for a jam game too! It's not that often to see jams games with proper level generation system in place. Must be a lot of work! Good job!

The gameplay is also quite smooth too, besides the occasional lags that probably came from a web build, it quite well done!

For some feedback I'd say the room is a bit on the large side, and backtracking sometimes feels a bit slow. There are also issues where you spawns in an incorrect position when entering a room. I don't know if this is an Easter egg or not, but I entered a strange white room by accident and seems to get stuck eventually in a strange shop. Not sure what it is.

Anyway, good job on making this game!

Cool game ! I feel like the bullet speed needs to be like 20% faster then the player, I found when first playing the game I was shooting and walking towards the enemies but because the bullet is exactly (if not under) my speed I was getting hit first

really good foundation though for something a lot bigger - I hope you keep updating!

Played through your game on stream, if you wanted to watch the playthrough heres the vod timestamped to your game (if it doesn't work your game starts at 3:23:53)

I encountered a few minor bugs, nothing game breaking like, entering a room from an odd point relative to where i was, or a boss health bar starting at half and going to full a moment later, or the wall enemies not necessarily only moving on walls but also the air xD .

Overall this is a nice little game similar to "the binding of isaac". Though i get that you, as the player, are the weapon, it still feel like you as a character with a gun.

I liked playing as ghost and like getting the attack damage, I accidently went into the bug 'secret' room and then everything went down hill from there.

This is fun! Kept wanting to play more runs. I liked playing as both characters, good job setting up the procedural dungeon system.

Angel's playstyle was my favorite part. Upgrades felt substantial. Nice job getting an entire roguelite done in a jam!

On my first play through I think I did soft lock after the 'secret room' bug described below. Went through a single tile wide passage. I thought it was a secret room too, it was all white and I could only leave the way I came in. Leaving dropped me in an entirely new zone, and I didn't have a green position marker on the map. Went into the next room and it was the shop without any exit. Tried again and beat first boss then got distracted and died (pause pls!).

Thanks for playing my game on stream again, great to see some live playtesting!

It's okay. I wish there was a better hook for the game. So far it's was already seen top-down shooter mechanics.

Thanks for the feedback! Yeah it's not a super original idea, I was mostly just interested in figuring out how to make a procedurally generated dungeon and map. Thanks for checking my game out!

we found a secret room above the shop in the tutorial, but after exiting got teleported to a different area? having secret rooms are cool though! great amount of content, items, powerups, enemies, and even two characters. we had fun playing it!

Developer

thank you so much for playing my game and for the feedback!! Shoot that sounds like a bug I didn't have time to add secret rooms lol, sorry about that. So glad to hear you had fun despite the jankyness of the game tho :)

Roguelikes will always be interesting to me! This one was really fun to play! It just needs some polishing, but it's already a great game, the mechanics are nice! Congrats!

Thank you for the feedback! Yeah I really wish I had spent more time on polishing and bug fixing. Thank you for the kind words and for checking my game out!

Really cool, ii think it could benefit for smaller rooms, and maybe faster player projectiles, but that is maybe a taste thing. Anyway, idea is good, with a little polish i could see myself playing longer.

Developer(+1)

Thanks for the feedback! Smaller rooms would definitely be better I think you're right. Appreciate you taking the time to check my game out and leave a comment :)

A fun rougelike! I enjoyed the enemy designs and bullet patterns of the rooms. Each room offers a good balance of enemy swarms as well as environmental traps. There are some bugs where rooms that are visible on the map are inaccessible as well as some accidental pathways that lead to broken rooms. You have enough upgrade options and opportunities to make yourself a very solid build. Also enjoyed the boss encounters that offered a challenge even when I had gotten to a pretty strong build.

Developer

Thank you for the feedback!! Sorry about the bugs, I ran out of time to fix them all. So glad to hear you had fun despite the jankyness of the game tho! Appreciate you taking the time to check it out and comment :)

You have a good foundation to a game here. I think the movement and shooting mechanics can be tuned a bit. And i got stuck in a shop room with no exit :) Still, I can see the vision, good work!

Developer

Thanks for the feedback! I always tell myself I'll polish up the player controller more later and then run out of time before submission time lol. So Sorry about the getting stuck in a room with no exit, I knew there were bugs in the map generator but I hadn't seen that before. Appreciate you taking the time to check my game out and leave a comment :)
