i really liked the music and visuals, i did not understand how to actually fish, and i had performance issues

Developer

Sorry to hear that. To fish, you simply go in the water, aim at the fish and click left click on your mouse. It will shoot a spear, and collect the fish.

Then you can walk up to the vendor and sell your fishes to get currency and points (score). You can also buy upgrades using the currency.

Wow, this game is really well done! The level design is top notch. The sound and music fits perfectly too. I had a great time!

Developer

Thanks a lot for the comment. We really appreciate 😁

Honestly, the fear of a shark showing up had me on edge the entire time. I suffocated before I saw one if they do exist.... I think the hitbox and/or aiming for the spear gun is slightly off because a lot of shots that felt like they should have hit just didn't. Could very well be user error as well though.

Any game that, though, beyond rod and reel is a welcome submission in my mind.

Really nice game, I wish the oxygen tank lasted longer so I could explore more, great level design.

Developer

Have you upgraded the Tank by visiting the vendor?

Thank you for playing our game! 😁

Nice gameplay loop with the hunting, selling, upgrading. Could probably be extended with more content to make it a bit more long-lived, but quite good for a game jam entry. The voice acting was a nice touch.

Maybe something to add would be an incentive to explore more. I see that others found interesting places that I didn't think existed. You can get by with just hunting around the shore right in front of the shop.

Took me a bit of time to get used to the harpooning mechanic, but after that it was pretty nice. The vendor UI was a bit rough and it took me a long time to find the "Resume" button the first time. I think there was also a bug when I tried to buy the last harpoon update where it stopped updating the UI (said I couldn't afford an update when I still had over 1000 coins).

Developer

Thank you for playing our game and providing feedback!

There's a lot of additional features we would've liked to pack in. Sadly, the UI is one area we had to cut short due to time restriction. Maybe one day we'll revisit it and improve on our current design! 😁

Loved the UI, it reminded me of Dead Island 2 haha. The idea of using a speargun was cool too. I do think the oxygen tank should have refilled by a tiny amount over time as you resurfaced (maybe cap it to a certain amount). Only because my first playthrough took a while to get the hang of things and by the time I did, I was out of oxygen and dying. Other than that, it is a solid game and I hope your team expands on it more!

Thanks for your kind words!

Well, our thought on the oxygen tank was for it to be realistic (irl oxygen tanks need to be filled with compressed air), for that reason it made sense for us to have to go to the vendor to refill. But this is a game after all, and I do get your point.

But thank you very much for playing our game and for your comment. Hope you had fun! 🤿

I haven't voted as yet because i'm not sure about something. Is the oxygen bar not supposed to go back up? When i'm out of the water it doesnt refill. It also moves a big sluggish for me (i dont have the best specs but i am running a rtx3050 and an I5 10700H)

Edit: Nvm i found out you have to purchase the refill for the tank.

Edit2: Ok i changed the quality settings in the games save file and was able to play smoothly. This was the best one i've played so far! I love that you have to bring the fish to you to actually collect it. The menu could use a bit of visual work but overall very fun, will play again. I died catching the shark then trying to open the chest lol

Developer (2 edits) (+2)

Hey, thanks for playing. You have to refill your oxygen tank in the vendor store.

Submitted(+1)

Is the chest actually openable?

Developer(+1)

Yes it is! You just have to shoot it.

Thanks for your kind words!

oh nice! honestly, perfect score! I loved the spear fishing. I started adding that to mine but was running out of time so i started optimizing and bug checking instead

Hey, so i'm working on the spear fishing in mine and i'm trying to figure out a way to fire and retract the harpoon. If you don't mind, how did you accomplish that?
I'm tried spawning an actor but it doesnt work as well as i want it to, then i considered animating the harpoon mesh forwards and back but i'm not sure how to accomplish that

I like the highscore mechanic and the gameplay itself! Was very satisfied overall! Only thing was a weird "Dash" behavior sinking to the ground. The swimming could be more fluid/direkt for me. Also the HUD is very good! Well done!

Developer

Thanks for your comment! Hope you had fun!

Really fun game!

This is my  score, also I think that sometimes there's something in the way between the player character and the camera rendering the minimap (the minimap camera gets really close the the player and i can see my ass on the map)

Developer(+1)

Yeah, I created that map, and I was in a hurry to make it  sorry :D
