Funny thing happened to me with this entry: originally I was put off by the fact that there were no fish and no feedback for catching a fish, but then I went to the shop, sold all the fish and got a couple of upgrade and that allowed me to get more fish faster and upgrade more and all of a sudden I was hooked. I was a bit sad that I reached the maximum pretty quickly.

I guess it shows that you can have a game with rough edges that's still fun if the game loop is satisfying enough. So good job in that regard. If you add a bit of polish and more money sinks I think this could be quite enjoyable for a little while.

Good work on the overall vibe of the game. Between the chill music and sound effects it is very chill. Like the shop and ability to upgrade gear.

Water and environment look great! I think it needs some sort of feedback when catching a fish. Without having the inventory open i had no idea that a fish was caught. Additionally, something else to sink money into would be welcome, perhaps upgrading the house to prepare for retirement ;)

Expanding the game, with things like buying a house is a great idea thanks

The fishing mechanic could use a bit more work, but I really like the music and the sound of waves, very relaxing. I hope you continue developing the game, you have a strong foundation so far.

Good job! I liked the graphics especially the water! (Do you mind charing what asset this water is from? Or is it your own?) Music sound and UI was fitting well. 2 things i didnt like = i could walk under water and even jump there and that i had no callback when catching the fish. Some sort of "you caught one!" as widget would be enouhg i guess.

Hi, I used this marketplace asset for the water: https://www.unrealengine.com/marketplace/en-US/product/cartoon-water-shader?sess....
And you're right i would have liked to add a more visual way for the player to know when he catched a fish and when a fish bite the hook

Game assets looked nice, Ui and widgets all filled your stylistic theme and worked well, music was right choice for laid back fishing game. Was hard to tell when to start reeling in the invisible fish!. level although fitting the theme wasn't very interesting. the fishing mechanic wasn't very satisfying.

Good work on menu system didn't experience any glitches.

Developer

I wanted to make a more visual fishing system where you could actually see the fish, but i could not. also thanks for the menu compliment, this is my first time doing a menu that actually looked somewhat good.

How did you get your water to look so good? I literally stood at the edge of the water for 5 minutes and just took a moment to take everything in. Very relaxing atmosphere.

thanks, glad you liked it, for the water I used this asset I got free a few months ago, https://www.unrealengine.com/marketplace/en-US/product/cartoon-water-shader?sess...

It looks really good, and I like the menus.  Would have liked an effect when the fish is caught of some sort.

Developer

i'm glad you liked the menus, this is my first time making a good menu. I definetly wanted to add a more visual fishing system to actually see when you caught something, but i don't have that knowledge yet
