Nice idea, makes for a good puzzle game

I figured it out hahaha, the autosave was only applying to specific case(inventory updated, quest progressed) so if the player didn't do a manual save (ESC/P to get to the menu) and then exit the game, it would try to set them to (0,0,0) which is slightly under the landscape
I've fixed it (and also initialised the transform in the save file as a backup) but as we can't update it during voting I'll just have to wait until the end of the week

Thanks for your help!

Really cool idea - reminded me of the Shrimp in Shark Tale that was being used as bait

Loved the music, and the glowing eyes added to the atmosphere. I think being able to use points to purchase ability upgrades would definitely enhance the gameplay but overall it was a really solid submission

Great job, liked that you could see what you could potentially catch (made it easier to avoid the stronger fish when using a weaker rod). Good strategy game

Good environment design. Liked the unique mechanic of driving the boat in a circle

I did have a few frame rate issues where the game would stutter as I was going in a circle so I couldn't close a few of the loops (just handled it by doing smaller loops instead)

Nice work overall though

Good job! Very calm game - could see it being played on an ASMR channel

Good use of narration. It did take a while for the fish to catch, but that's what its like when you fish IRL

At first I wasn't sure what to do, but saw that you put some instructions down below.

The game was great visually, it had a good atmosphere to it.

However, it was a little too loud. I saw there was a settings button but that didn't seem to open anything up. Since that game relies on a audio cue to notify when to start reeling, I think turning down the ambient sounds would have definitely helped a lot.

I can see this becoming a narrative action game in the future

Loved the opening cinematic, the transition from the menu to the cut scene was very smooth. And the fake out with the rod at the start was hilarious. Made me laugh seeing what he would pull out next.

I do wish there was a bit more to the fishing aspect but at the same time, I fully understand where you were going with it. Hope you continue to expand on it in the future!

Thanks for the feedback, seems like the controls and UI were the main issues here

Thank you for playing!

Thanks for the feedback, will take the suggestions into consideration in the future!

Thanks for your comments - I also think I should have added some UI tutorials for the shop

Yeah, I've seen a few people mention the inverted Y-axis hahaha. I work in Blender often so for me Mouse Up = Look Up, but I can see why people prefer the opposite and will update that in the future.

Apologies for that, I missed the checkbox to mark it as Windows compatible (which it should be) and wasn't sure if we were allowed to make changes after the submission.

Thanks for checking it out!

Thanks for the feedback - yeah with the controls, I do spend a lot of time in Blender and playing Japanese games so instinctively mouse up is look up for me. I should have added a controls setting to change it as that isn't common for most people, will update that at some point.

Thanks for letting me know about the spawning bug, that never happened during playtesting so it'll be interesting to figure out what the issue is.

This is also my first game so I appreciate the feedback and will include it in my future games!

Unfortunately I think the devs forgot to include the rest of the folder when uploading the packed version so it's just the .exe file

I get a warning from Windows Defender saying it's an unrecognised app and that it has prevented it from running

There is a good amount of mechanics that work very well together. Having to reel in and out was a good mechanic to implement.

The character reminded me of Luffy from One Piece haha.

I think having a mini tutorial to help the player catch their first fish would have made it easier to get the hang of things, but fortunately when the fish did hook on, everything was pretty intuitive from there. Also clamping the mouse movement a little when moving around and driving the boat would have helped as I did feel quite dizzy in some points (but that's mainly on me for not wearing my glasses hahaha)

Overall it was a very nice entry, very relaxing - could see this becoming a nice cosy adventure game in the future!

It reminded me of the old school flash games on Newgrounds in the 00s - very nostalgic haha!

Very well put together and easy to understand what to do

Congratulations on making your first game - especially with only 30 days to make it in!

I can see where you were going with the fishing mechanic (I am a fan of QTE mechanics haha) and hope you're able to continue to expand on it post-jam!

Many thanks for the feedback and for pointing out UI the bugs!
Yeah, I wasn't sure whether to block off the lakes  or add swimming, but that's something I'll definitely think about

Great job with this game! It was a good idea to have the coin spawner along with the fish spawner as it did take me a while to gather enough fish to purchase the boat. I think maybe reducing the price of the boat or increasing the sale price of the fish would help get into the fishing aspect faster.

It was a little hard to see the control commands against the sand but after moving the camera around they were easy to read. The UI and sound design were great and I like that each island had a lot to explore. I think a map with all the vendors would be useful as I did get lost the first time. I would have liked a proper fishing mechanic as it felt a bit underwhelming to get the boat only to have to pick up fish in the same way.

I can see where you were going with this and hope you continue to add to it as I think it would make for a very nice game with a bit more work!

Thank you, much appreciated! :D

Very fun to play. Love the lowpoly style. The controls are very smooth and having the day/night cycle helped keep things from becoming too repetitive.

I did wish there was an option after the lose state to restart as I was ready to get my revenge on those Sharks haha and having the game close right away was a surprise the first time.

I can see this game being expanded on in the future and really hope you do so!

Thanks for the feedback! Ahh yeah, I tried to implement it so that the chance of getting junk was medium to low but my maths has never been the best hahaha

Thanks for pointing out those bugs, hopefully they didn't disrupt your experience too much!

I liked the visuals and that the fish kind of fight back. It reminded me of the Fishing Trawler minigame in RuneScape hahaha. Could see this becoming a multiplayer game in the future

(1 edit)

Loved the UI, it reminded me of Dead Island 2 haha. The idea of using a speargun was cool too. I do think the oxygen tank should have refilled by a tiny amount over time as you resurfaced (maybe cap it to a certain amount). Only because my first playthrough took a while to get the hang of things and by the time I did, I was out of oxygen and dying. Other than that, it is a solid game and I hope your team expands on it more!

I like the retro PS1 style graphics - very nostalgic, but it did hurt a bit when moving around (probably just my mouse's sensitivity). I liked that there were stakes with the pirates shooting at you. There was a lot to do and the gameplay loop is very solid - you've definitely got something good here!

Just submitted mine today - good luck to all of you!
