I made a video of your game. It's at the 6:32 mark of this video. I tried to cover as much possible ending dialogue as I can, though it is likely that I missed several of them.

Fun subversion of the genre of cooking-based horror games and a little character study into the psyche of a monster who likes their cocoa perfect. Some more clues could help. The table slam moment was a fun way to up the ante on the tension. In the end I didn't make the perfect cocoa. But we came to simpatico. A sort of cocoa compromise. And I'm okay with not being able to fully please the monster so long as they don't do me in.
Thanks for submitting One Cup of Cocoa to the jam!
Ooh this gave me the creeps! Especially since I actually don't know how to make a cup of Cocoa >.<
Loved it! Last year for a Cozy Jam our team had a similar game, and this one feels like it's a darker, funnier version of it. Enjoyed the dialogues and the fact things don't get unnoticed, even if I make a drink without a cup. Very nice entry!
Very minimalistic and cool! I do wish there were a few more variations, though—I tried a bunch of options, but most reactions ended up being pretty similar 😄Or maybe i missed them?
I love giving him just a cup and cocoa powder, haha. The visuals are great. Nice game!
Oh man that was great! I had a good laugh exploring all ways to give hot cocoa to the creepy dude :D
Short little experience, not sure what I could even suggest improving here, it was great fun!
I think these are all of the ending dialogues you can get in the game:
The man shoots you- Don't select any items.
"It's rather...minimal." - Select a cup and no other ingredients.
"You could have said you don't like cocoa." - Don't select cocoa powder while making something
"Cup could've been nice, but you're the barista." - Make a cocoa, but don't select the cup
"Pure milk cocoa, I see." - Cup + milk + cocoa + spoon
"Isn't that just basically tea." - Cup + water + mint leaves
"Lumpy cocoa powder? Hmm." - Cup + milk + cocoa (leave out the spoon)
"The whipped cream always makes a mess for me." - Add whipped cream in your cocoa
"I see the kettle went to waste." - Cup + milk + cocoa + spoon + water
Ohhh! Very nicely gathered! You got 7 out of about 15 or so, not counting the few of the last lines I view as the "endings", one being "You should have said you don't like cocoa". Love to see someone so intensely going through them!
But to be fair... I knew the water kettle button was hidden too well, I think most people here haven't boiled their water lol I probably should also note that the order is actually important for good ending.
I believe I got the neutral ending... he slammed the gun on the table (which was heckin frightening when it happened, good one) but I managed to pull through after a restart and he seemed to find the new one good enough.
Anyway, pretty scary, short-and-sweet! Nice graphics, and the slow, subtly blue text complements the environment well and builds suspense.
Loved the atmosphere from the beginning, was immediately stressed to mess up their order. Super creative concept and you nailed it! Only complaint was sometimes I wasn't sure if I beat the game or failed, but overall was super fun to try out different combinations to see how they reacted.
Thank you for the feedback. And that's fair complaint, but by the sounds of it, you didn't fail, because the "fail" state is one you would know when you see it haha! So good job!
No, jokes aside, absolutely fair though, I realized a bit too late that the "Good ending" and the "Bad ending" are kinda specific so most people wouldn't really see them, but maybe it's good for us all to accept that in making cocoa, there is no failure, only your own artistic expression lol
I had so much fun! Is there a right combination? I'll keep on trying! No sleep for me tonight!
I don't wanna spoil anything, but I admit that it's hard, so technically there are 3 endings, Good, Neutral and Bad.
Good is the "right combination", it might be annoyingly specific, but I had to be a little biased, it's the way I make my cocoa always lol. Truthfully tho, the Good and Neutral ending are similar, so as the game goes: Enjoy cocoa on your own way ^^ But the Bad ending on the other hand :)
It was a great game. The art was nice and neat, and the gameplay was cool and was easy to understand.
In general, You did great job, Keep up the good work.
The first time I made cocoa, I did it without selecting a cup first. XD I love how the spooky figure has different reactions depending on what you do.
WOW this was so good !! The art was incredible?? I loved doing all of the different combinations it felt so satisfying when I found new lines of dialogue, absolutely one of the best games I've played this jam, I'll be rooting for you to win !
All in all a very understanding Eldritch being! We do all enjoy our cocoa in our own way :D
Love the mood and artwork, and the overall idea is really great. Would've loved to see a bit more feedback on why any cup of cocoa wasn't right for him so I felt like I could try again to make it better!
Amazing! One of my favorites of the jam so far. I actually played a bunch of times to try and make the perfect cup for the guy. Loved the atmosphere, how he responds to your decisions in making the cup of cocoa, and the animation on the gun on the table was just sublime. I didn't get the "good ending" but I'm definitely going to keep trying to figure it out! Great job!
