  • I liked pushing the doors open and trying to find ways to hit the enemies. The boss did feel a little easy, as I dont think I got damaged by his attacks. Creativity was great, loved the light mechanics. Gameplay could be improved. Not always clear when the player received damage. Theme interpretation is on point. Polish was great, some issues were expected, but the boss not appearing to do damage was weird.

Great atmosphere and very direct story, only thing that took me a bit long to figure out was the switching to the stun gun with the scroll wheel and then how to kill the boss at the end, but otherwise very fun!

Developer

The scroll wheel for swapping weapons in a footnote at the bottom of the second note, but you might've missed it. Anyway, thanks for playing! Glad you enjoyed <3

Very spooky game. I liked the challenge, although I wish there was feedback confirming that I have hit an enemy. It also lagged my browser quite a bit, and I could not get a good framerate. Overall, nice game! Good music.

Developer (1 edit)

There are sound effects on enemy hit, although maybe some knock-back would've been a good idea... Anyway, thanks for playing! Glad you enjoyed it <3

Edit: It completely crossed my mind but the enemies run off when hit, but they only run directly away from the player for only a second or so, and are completely invisible during that period, so it's hard to see

The game has a nice atmosphere and captures the horror. Well done!

I love using the light to weaken the shadows and then finish them off with the axe. Kinda reminds me of Aragorn from The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers PS2 game iirc. The music was tense and the visuals looked nice. The camera angle was fitting. I loved the tension and you nailed the theme. It did feel a bit easy to just run right through everything though I will say and there were some shadow creatures that even though their eyes weren't showing, they would come out of nowhere and get me even if I was being careful. The final boss did feel a bit random with the patterns, but manageable when knowing what to do. I managed to find the way out with the gold rectangle on the side at the end due to the glow; however, since objects in the game have vibrant colours and it is a small rectangle, it adds to the difficulty of it being spotted. I feel like flashlight item that was a health up could have been placed further in the game as you got close to the generator. I had a great time with it!

Developer(+1)

Yeah the boss is literally completely random with it's firing pattern, it just speeds up as you damage it (i didn't have enough time to make real attacks and such), I really should've made the elevator button more obvious but by the time I realized it was too out of the way I couldn't fix it other than quickly putting a yellow rectangle on it. I think the invisible enemies were hiding because you were pointing the light at them through the wall, and when you looked away they unvanished and jumped you, but I dunno since this didn't come up in playtesting. Otherwise, I'm glad you enjoyed it! <3

This is one of my favorite entries so far in this jam. The gameplay is simple, but very effective and didn't overstay its welcome. The boss battle was also pretty cool, I liked the overall atmosphere of the game, and everything was super polished. Great job!

love the way to swing axe all around! but i complained about absence of a pause system when reading clues and messages. 've missed to understand how defeat boss :(

Developer(+1)

i have no idea how to make a pause system, and i didnt have time to learn on the spot... Also with the boss you just stun it to get some hits and dodge the projectiles. Glad you enjoyed the axe!

i don't know Unity, but in GMS i do in this way : at the beginning of Step Event ( on Update in Unity ) i set an if condition that check for a boolean ( generally a boolean variable of the Main Engine object ) this bool could be named pauseEvent and if is false Update will be skipped

Developer(+1)

that could probably work, too late to update the game now but I try something like that for my other games

I liked the concept, but I didn't understand what to do after the boss

I would also still like to see how much HP the player has, because I didn’t understand when I received damage. Overall good job!

Developer

once you kill the boss you click the glowing button next to the elevator and it plays a little cutscene, there's also a little splat sound effect thing that plays when you get hit but its a bit quiet. Thanks for the support and feedback! <3

Solid concept, and I really liked the music. I wish there was better feedback to know if I hit an enemy or not.  I just kinda kept clicking like an idiot and hoping, but I'm honestly not sure if I was hitting anything or not.  Cool little entry.

Developer

The enemies make a glitchy scream sound effect thing when you hit them. Thanks for your support!
