How does your game utilize the limitation and theme?
Focus: Collectable - It focuses on collecting gears/coins which are the only way you can use to upgrade your robot. Theme: There and Back - There are 2 surfaces and only 1 is open per run. You have to go to the other side of the underground to enter the surface and to finish the run.

What was your team size?

Solo

You worked alone

Theme Party

In a Song

The game is as long as a single backing music track

Hidden Secrets

If you did any of the optional challenges, explain how they were used:
Theme Party: Underground (Palette Jam Theme)
- The core area of the game is the Underground. It's the only area where you can find Underbots and farm gears/coins.

In a Song: Underbots cannot function without a music. A run will start with a music and when the music ends, the Underbots will stop functioning and will not drop gears/coins even when killed.

Hidden Secrets: Merchantbots are invulnerable, but once you purchased all their upgrades, you can start attacking them and once killed, they will drop a large amount of gears/coins.

The shooting mechanic was very interesting, I’ve never seen a shoot-up then fire are target system before so that was quite fun to play around with. The platforming was good, the camera felt a little too slugish for my liking but that’s a very subjective thing. Had a fun time trying to work out what paths I could take given the jump heights, and i really liked the art style. The only thing I came across that felt like a bit of a flaw was that if I wasn’t careful when jumping up to the surface, my character would immediately fall back down, treating it as the end of that run and making me run back to the other one. Great job though, well done!

Developer

Thanks for giving me a feedback. Yeah, I get that a lot with the camera, I'll definitely update it post-jam :)

I like that you can get upgrades that lead to very noticable improvements. The biggest problem is that the game becomes a slog when the music ends because there are no enemies, no music, and you're just trying to figure out how to get to the arrow spot for an extended period of time. I think there's a lot of potential here for something fun though!

Developer

Yeah, It's kinda a little confusing to figure out the way, especially on the initial runs. Thanks for the vid, I really appreciate it. It's my first time to get like an actual video review on my game Haha. A big thanks!

Submitted(+1)

Great Game!

You might want to add some kind of tutorial (I it took me too long to realize I can double jump...)☺

Developer(+1)

Thanks! Yeah, I'll try to include everything I've learned in this jam on my next game :)

Submitted(+1)

Super neat game! I like the bullet redirection mechanic, but I wish the default direction it shoots in isn't going up. Other than that, pretty great! If you have the time, I'd also appreciate it if you checked my game out!

Developer

Thanks! Sure, I'd be happy to play your game :)

Submitted(+1)

fun game and perfectly fits the jam's these and limitation ;)

specially loved it when you can target an enemy with multiple bullets at once = instant kill >_<

Developer(+1)

Thanks bud! I really appreciate it :)

Submitted(+1)

I really like the art. I think it's a little too difficult.

Developer

Thanks! The game only gets harder the more you purchase upgrades.

Submitted(+1)

I really like the art in this game, it fits very well. I do think the camera panning could be better as someone else mentioned. I also thought that the game started a bit too slow, especially with the movement speed. It kind of made me want to stop playing because it was so sluggish. So I would suggest either increasing the base movement speed or reducing the price for it in the shop so you don't have to spend as much time without it. You did a really nice job!

If you have the time, I'd love to hear what you think of my submission. :D

I was just reading the other reviews and I saw the stuff about the music and how it affected the game. Honestly, I didn't even realize that happened but I think that's an awesome mechanic. I was wondering why the dudes weren't dropping anything anymore, really interesting mechanic. I would suggest making it a lot more obvious though because some of us (the blind folk) probably just glossed over wherever it was written. That might also resolve the movement speed issue because the runs would probably be shorter.

Developer

Thanks for playing and giving a feedback. The movement upgrade can be bought in your first run since the first upgrade only costs 10 coins tho. But yeah, thanks for giving your thoughts, I would definitely consider them on my next game :)

Sure! I'll play your game and give my thoughts as well :)

Submitted(+1)

Yeah, I was just bad so on my first two runs, I only got eight coins each time and since they're separated I had to go through another time to get the movement upgrade :p

Submitted(+1)

Really loved the game, the art, the implementation, everything! Only thing  i can suggest is the camera shifts very fast when turning left and right. And sometimes when i kill an enemy in the air the coin generates so high up I cant reach it. Other than that still an amazingly fun game to play!!!

Developer

Thanks for the kind feedback! I do agree with the camera panning, it could be better. I designed the collectibles to have a zero gravity to encourage the player to strategize on how and when to kill the robots :) But yeah, thank you so much for the kind words and feedback :)

Submitted(+1)

Liked this. I love the theme and the shooting controls. but the controls are a bit difficult to use. Good mechanic. Its a metroidvania with the shop.

Developer

Thanks for the feedback! I'll definitely improve the player controls on my next game :)

Submitted(+1)

The shooting mechanic was nice and interesting! The music was a bit high pitched. Had to tune it down a bit but no problem. A good variance on enemies. Theme was good matched. Great job!

I had a bit trouble with the controls thou. A bit more snappy would have bin nice :)

But all in all great entry!

Developer

Thanks for the feedback, I really appreciate it :)

I really like the jump, not many games can make it as comfortable as this, only thing that isn't awesome about this game is the camera returning to the player so quickly after movement not that that's even that big of a deal! love it!! especially the art!
ps: sorry i posted it in the wrong area, so i deleted the comment and put it here

Developer(+1)

Thanks! Yeah, I agree. The camera panning could be better, I'll watch this one out in my next game :)

Submitted(+1)

glad to hear it!

This is just an awesome game! The idea is super clever and cool. The graphics were also amazing. The only issue I had at first was because the colour theme is very few colours, I hade trouble knowing what I could jump on and what I couldn't. Overall, very cool game.

Developer(+1)

Hey, thanks for the good and kind feedback! Yeah I agree, the reason for that is, I was trying to make it look like an underworld/underground since I took the Optional Challenge 1 and so I designed the game to have an underground and surface :)

Submitted(+1)

Ah ok that makes sense now. Awesome job!

Submitted(+1)

This is a very cool game with an interesting shooting system, I love it! Also very nice use of the theme, collectibles and extra challenges. Though I did have some camera panning issues when moving through the level but that wasn't too big of a problem. Great job on this one!

Developer

Big thanks! I agree with the camera panning especially when you suddenly switch direction.

Submitted(+1)

Did throw me off a couple of times haha. Happy jamming!

Submitted(+1)

Very cool, as others have mentioned your shooting mechanic was very unique and interesting, haven't seen it in another game before. The music was great but unfortunately it didn't loop so I was playing much of the game without a soundtrack. Also, I loved how satisfying the screenshake is when you get hit, great job.

Developer (1 edit)

Thanks! The music doesn't loop cause it is a part of the Optional Challenge 2: In a Song. It's also in the description. Underbots will not function and drop collectibles when no music is playing. This is a design I made to stop the player from farming every robot in a single run and to let the player know when it's time to go to the surface :)
Edit: Typo

Submitted(+1)

Oh, I didn't realise the detail about the song. I've gone and updated my score accordingly :)

Developer

Thanks and happy jamming! :)

Nice game, novelty shooting scheme, really interesting. I have some issue at web play, i don't know if is local issue, but when i try to use several times the right click, a new window at explorer open up. so I keep closing windows to keep playing, it happen also at fullscreen. I cannot play the full experience. aesthetics is really nice.

great game

Developer

Sorry about that experience tho I'm not sure about that web issue cause I haven't implemented new window to open up when you are right clicking except when you left click the "More Games" at the title screen which will open a new tab to my itch page. But yeah, thanks for the feedback, I'll try to look more into it when more player will get the same issue.

I couldn't seem to figure out how to make coins, but great game!

Developer

Coins will drop on your first run and every left-to-right run :)

Submitted(+1)

I really loved the shooting and thought that It was a great concept :) Keep it up

Developer

Thanks for the positive feedback! :)

Submitted(+1)

Love the shooting mechanics, really cool havn't seen something like that before :D great game! the camera when you turn from walk left to right and right to left makes me a little dizzy. but well done you have created a great game!

If you dont mind, could you check out my game? :)

Developer

Thanks! Yeah, I was trying to play with the camera to adjust when you are walking straight but haven't properly implemented when you suddenly switch direction Haha.

Sure, I'll check yours :)

Submitted(+1)

Cool concept! The music is kind of funny for me i don't know why hahaha.

Check out my game and tell me what you think of it!

Developer(+1)

Thanks bud! Same feeling when I chose those musics Hahaha.

Submitted(+1)

Super fun little platformer collector game! and really loved the way you designed the shooting mechanics. Great job overall!

Some things that might be a bit QOL, An option to mute and unmute music while playing and keeping the same sound effects in game. This way for long playthroughs i can just chill out and listen to tunes or whatever.

Super solid and really fun!

Developer

Thanks! I decided not to include a  mute/unmute since the music is a core part of the game. But yeah, I should have had implemented it.
