NICE WORK

Developer

Thank you for recording your experience! You were really close to the end.

You should have had used your sprint to get over the hole where you failed. So the jump is be possible.

What I conclude from your play test: The movement implementation is terrible, we could have made that better and maybe a tip at your point of failure to use sprint would also be a good idea… And maybe more checkpoints?

Anyway, again thank you for playtesting it.

The game is beautiful

The sounds and effects are great, but if the game principle was vector the game would be better, anyway good work.

Developer(+1)

Thank you! But what do you mean with a vector game principle? Like vector game art eg. SVGs?

very nice limbo graphic!!! also like limited flashlight

Submitted(+1)

I love the graphics, and the game was fun and I like the premise of this game, but unfortunally  this game relies on trial and error a bit too much for my liking... I'd had liked if the torch had recharged instead of being a limited resource... Also make the jungle zone darker, because with that light level my brains thinks that it should be able to see the spikes, even in the "shadow zones", and get frustrated when it dies to a spike (this could be easily be just me, having this problem :/)

Developer(+1)

I don’t know what you mean. The flashlight does indeed recharge after two seconds.

Do you mean the background color in the jungle level should be darker? If yes, you’re right. Now thinking about this, sounds kinda logical. We’ll do it if we make a full version of the game.

Thanks for playing!

You're right: the flashlight does indeed recharge. Maybe i thought that it was a limited resource because it takes too long to recharge, and the flashlight bar is small to see (or maybe i was just trying to blazing through the levels, that i didn't even noticed, lol). Sorry for telling you otherwise :/

And yes, the BG colors in the jungle should be darker, that's what i meant

I love the art and the ambiance but (it's maybe on my end) there was a 1s delay between my input and the movement so it was really painful to play. The concept is neat, tho I would have expected the traps to be more "spot-lighted" once you die, this would prevent people for falling into a trap while going back to the place they died

Developer(+1)

This depends on which version you use. I also experienced input lag in Chrome with the WebGL version under Linux. Maybe try it with the native versions instead because these are more optimized and run better in general. Should have had written that in the description. I’ll do that now…

The highlighting idea of the traps is brilliant! If we decide to make a full game out of this, we’ll implement this, thank you! Another thing that we came up with was to spawn blood after some deaths at the same spot, that way you can tell if there is a trap but your approach seems better.

Great game! Art and sound design are top notch and the concept is quite good!

Developer

Hey, Thank you for your feedback ^^

Submitted(+2)

It's a cool idea, and looks great. Having background ambience instead of music was a good call, I think. It fits the general atmosphere.

It's super hard though. Maybe make the collision boxes smaller? The character dies if he's anywhere near the base of a spike, which feels a bit harsh.

I'm sad to say I completely failed to learn from my deaths 😭, but I can see that the concept is sound.

Developer (1 edit) (+1)

We actually wanted to make a small title music but then decided to do just ambient. We knew we were on the right track here ^^

Unfortunately we lack experience in game balancing because this is our first game we finished. We had a few testers before release (that’s why you have a checkpoint in level 2 for example) but I agree that we could have changed the box colliders a bit.

But thank you for playing our little game and I hope you still enjoyed it despite your many deaths.

A verry good idea for sure and the grafics are awsome, a bit like LIMBO, but controlls feel verry harsh and sometimes its also quite frustrating because the spikes are even in light only decent. But all in all awsome game and really a great atmosphere!!

Submitted(+2)

The controls need a bit of work, I found it kind of tedious to jump over the spikes. It feels boring waiting for the flashlight cooldown to fill up again, maybe it would have been better as a short burst thing? Really great atmosphere and graphics, although the foreground decor sometimes gets in the way. Solid game overall. Love the sounds.

Developer(+1)

Hey, Thank you for your feedback ^^

The subtleties we will improve in any case, but unfortunately we lacked a little time.

Developer(+2)

I agree that the controls can feel a bit weird. To be honest I had a bit of trouble implementing it right and like Blemd already has stated, there wasn’t enough time left to polish it.

As for the flashlight: I like the idea of a short light burst and then maybe seeing the outlines of everything, including the spikes within the radius? Maybe if we make a full version of this game… but great idea. Believe it or not, the flashlight was even slower back in development! We thought that you should learn where the traps are by failing but to also have a small option available to spot them right away. But it became too frustrating so me made it faster.

I’m glad you like the game in general. And thank you for your review, really appreciate it!

Like the atmosphere! Great job!

Developer

Tank you for your feedback :D

Very atmospheric game, and great art, well done!

Developer

Thank you ^^

Submitted(+1)

well made game, but the easy instant deaths from not remembering exactly where something was is a bit too frustrating for me

Developer

Oh thanks for playing this game :D
Use your flashlight to find the spikes ^^

Submitted(+1)

yeah, i kept running into them even when i knew where they were lol
