Very nice concept, takes a while to get a grasp on, and it is quite addicting, there's always this feeling "ok now i got this, i'll do better this time, let's restart." But... the RNG is quite too much for me for my liking, I only was able to pass 6 enemies, and I think it was strict luck anyway. I was able to quite consistant get to 4-5 defeated after playing for a while, but I would have to reset after first or second couple of times anyway. The idea was very nice, but the difficulty and rng might have stopped it in becoming as good as it could be. That being said I enjoyed the game, and kept playing like I said "next time I'll get further". I have to respect fellow auto-battle creator, and I belive that the concept was really ambitious and with few tweaks it could be even better.
I will be glad if you would check out my game too, as it is... well also an auto-battler, maybe you'll enjoy it, although be aware that I was also really ambitious and not RNG but bugs were my downfall :P.

Sidenote: two full-hp gladiators with vampirism and same weapon equipped fighting each other is... well it's interesting to watch, I could probably bring some popcorn for that :D

Developer

Thank-you so much for giving it a go, and for the feedback! I think it's a common complaint that the RNG is unfortunately a little too rough, and unfortunately, I don't think I included enough player choice... I've got some plans for the game, which will hopefully make it a lot better. Thank you for giving it an honest try! I'll definitely check your game out :)

yeah 2x vampirism is a spectacle XD

You had a lot going on here with the stats, items and mechanics! Could have used a little more for me as a player to do, in my opinion. I couldn't get too far, but maybe a system where you gain gold from each enemy and can spend it on permanent upgrades for your gladiator would make this a lotta fun!

I'm excited to see where you take this idea after the jam :)

Developer

Thank you so much for playing and for your feedback! I definitely get that, however I do have a feature planned which should hopefully add a lot more strategy! Permanent upgrades are actually available but they require you to get a little further in the game (you need more SPONSORS to access the ugprades at the shop), but unfortunately I made the game a little too hard... Thanks again! :)

I like the setting and that you can try to yield like in a real gladiator fight. I wish there was some more depth to it like if you don't let the other guys yield then they end up not letting you yield. I also think the auto battler for this type of game is somewhat boring because there is not any sort of positional movement to be randomized. The art and sound were nice.

Thanks for the feedback!

I think there is something here, I like the animations although I could only get about as far as three or four opponents, the yield mechanic was interesting but felt that alot of the time you fell under the 50% and it left alot to chance. It would be cool if there was more in the game that gives the player more choice in making the random events easier to overcome.

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much for playing and for the feedback! Yeah I made the RNG a little too brutal unfortunately. Yeah I feel as though  I should have given more warning when you were about to fall below 50%, too. Another person mentioned auto-pausing to give you a chance to consider yielding. Definitely something I'll be thinking about. More player choice is definitely something I'll be adding.

Thanks again! :)

Ahhhhhh. This game is definitly a gem. The yield mechanic is really well thought of, and the world you've painted is simple yet really effective. I love the art and feel of the game. With just some more polish to UI and such it could be a really solid full game! I really want to play more :)

I feel bad that this game barely has ratings for how good it is. I suggest next time making your game playable online. But again, wonderful game! You've done a real great job!

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much! I really appreciate the feedback and encouragement!

I wanted to upload to browser, and I'm sure it's fairly simple but I'd never done it before and only had a few minutes spare to upload, unfortunately. Thank you for the advice, though, I'll definitely make sure I make my next jam game playable online.

Thanks again! :)

I enjoyed playing, I couldn't get passed 3 enemies though and when I tried to yeild it said NO MERCY and killed me anyway LOL.

Thanks for playing! Yeah the RNG is very brutal and I should have described the game mechanics a little better! Unfortunately I'm a bit new to programming and so a lot of the ideas I had took a lot of time to implement, leaving little time for a good tutorial, which I perhaps should have focused more on.

Man, I played this for way too long haha. I swear, the more I understood the game, the worse I did. Some more information on what the different weapons do would be greatly appreciated. Maybe include some more info in the game's description or something? The intermission buffs could also do with some explanation. I have no idea what rig does and I didn't know if max health would heal me or not when I took it.

The highest I ever got to was 7 enemies defeated and then after that I kept dying at like 3-4. The RNG is absolutely brutal.

Also, would appreciate a hotkey for play/pause and maybe even the option to auto-pause at the beginning of battles so I can decide if I want to yield before we start taking damage. Currently you can't yield when paused which is kind of annoying and it's weird that play and pause are separate buttons. Since you would only ever want to do one or the other, why not reuse the same button but change the text? Like pausing or playing a video. Finally, showing the max health would be helpful as well. Just change the hp text to be current / max instead of just current so I can know if my yield will work or not.

Pretty enjoyable game once you understand what's going on, but man the RNG is just too much. Would really like it if that were toned down a bit. The yield mechanic is very creative and interesting. Overall, good game. Thanks for making it!

Developer

Thank you so much for all the feedback, and for playing! A lot of what you mentioned were worries of mine, although making the yield button un-pressable when paused was a huge oversight! Autopause is a great idea. Thanks again for all the great constructive feedback, I'll make sure I give your game a go!

This game felt intense and made me use my brain.
I like the idea of the chances of a successful yield decreasing with time.
I got to 3 enemies. Is it possible to beat this game with skill, or is someone doomed to lose sometimes?

A fun game, especially for someone who likes risk and upgrading characters.

Developer

Hey, thanks for the feedback! There's definitely a lot of luck involved. Knowing which weapons/traits work well together, and knowing when to yield and which upgrades to take definitely helps your chances, though. But thanks for the feedback! If I continue work on the game I'll definitely try and include some more strategic options to hopefully increase rewards for skilled players.

Sounds like there is a lot to it. I love games like that, where can I buy the strategy guide?
Good job, and I hope you continue with it.
